The best ever Rangers team. Very entertaining. A great 2-0 win over Liverpool early in the season with Gerry Francis scoring what was voted the Goal of the Season. Deserved to win the league. League winners in the eyes of Rangers fans. COYR's!

Been watching football for 74 years and can honestly say coming from Plymouth that the 1975 QPR team was the best football entertaining side I have ever seen, god bless them all for the enjoyment they gave to their fans,I was at RAF Uxbridge from 1972 to 1975 WAS A PLAYER FOR THE RAF ,AN F.A COACH but was in awe of the Rangers 👍

QPR deserved the title that season. A highly entertaining journey from August to May. It was the Norwich game that cost them, unfortunately.⚽️🙁 👏🏼Fantastic effort though 👍🏼

Hi QPR what an amazing team you had in the mid 70s and such gentleman as Jago and Sexton to assemble it. I came across you as my family are all MCFC and my granddad said Stan was the best footballer ever to come out of my fair city. So sad for stan and his family to hear of his horrible illness. The joy he"s given to all football fans and especially you QPR fans is immense and that Stan and his family are in all our thoughts. Something must be done by the PL or FA to fund care around Altzeimers for ex pros. Money isnt short at the top end of the game. Let's care for those who gave us such happiness through playing it.✌

Contrast this with Leeds a few years earlier. Leeds were forced to play their last game away at Wolves just 2 days after beating Arsenal at Wembley in the FA Cup final. Wolves had had a full week off. The FA did not allow Leeds any time as they just didn't want them to win the double. Come 1976 and Liverpool get given all the time in the world.

Off the top of my head - Parkes, Clement, Gillard, Mclintock, Hollins, Webb, Mason, Thomas, Francis, Bowles, Givens. Sub Leach
That was the classic lineup I knew. My first game was 19 April 1976 .
2 -1 v Arsenal and QPR went top of the League. What an atmosphere. I remember being frightened by the noise at first.

O boy such great days. It was real Roy of the rovers stuff. Every two weeks as a 16 year after playing football for my school on Saturdays ( Willesden high school) about five/ six of us would go down to loftus road and cheer on Queen’s Park rangers. We use to worm our way down to the front behind the goal. Once when the ball was out of play I smacked it . Cor and wow what a team Stan Bowles Gerry Francis etc and of course Dave Thomas our world class winger.

Yeah great side. Stan Bowles, Gerry Francis, Dave Thomas, Don Masson etc. They could and should have won somethiing in the 1970s.

I remember this time very well - Liverpool had a 10-day advantage which would be deemed inappropriate now & my beautiful boys were the BEST team that year:

The result against Norwich was a massive blow but dropping points against the teams that were eventually relegated didn't help.
From the end of January apart from the Norwich game that fantastic run was spoiled by a goalless away draw at Sheffield United.

    • @ga-ow7yf
      @ga-ow7yf 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

@@stewartbeddoe8617 Yes your right Stan Bowles mentioned this in his autobiography when he said the 0-0
Draw at Sheffield United cost them the title. I believe Sheffield United only got 12 points that season.

    • @stewartbeddoe8617

@@ga-ow7yf The blades actually ended up with with a total of 22 points, 6 wins and 10 draws.
The Rs also dropped points to another team that was relegated that season losing 1 - 0 away to Burnley.

@@ga-ow7yf you and me both lol
I had only just turned 10 at the time but great memories from that season, one was leaving just before the end of the stoke game, I think it was because my brother wanted to get home a bit early cause he was going out that evening, anyway we had a mad dash back onto the loft after Webb scored to win the game 3 - 2 for the Rs, obviously the Leeds game stands out and then running onto the pitch after with Stewards in tow trying to catch me 😅
But yes the record book does show the blades did finish was 22 points.
