As a Canadian that can't afford to pay $120/tire or $300 for basic brakes, I have ordered a LOT of things from BikeInn over the years - especially tires. Even with shipping, etc, I get tires from there for 1/3 to 1/2 the price of Canadian LBSs.

You can usually order to parcel shops or parcel lockers when shipping with any of the courier services DPD, DHL, GLS, etc. that way there is no need for a permanent address. If there is no option to choose a parcel shop/locker during shop checkout it is almost always possible to redirect the parcel via the courier service after it's shipped. The needed info/links are provided in the couriers email received when the package ships.
There are quite a few good online shops in Europe with a wide selection of parts and fast, fairly inexpensive shipping.
Some I've personally had good experiences with are bike24, bike-discount, rosebikes, r2-bike, bike-components, simplebikestore

I moved to Portugal and BikeInn is the best option to buy bike stuff from what I’ve found here. Even in Lisbon, a capital city, no decent bike shops with product selection. Delivery has been great with BikeInn to Portugal. Haven’t had any big issues with 3 online orders. Only issue was charged for an item that never was delivered and had to email them to reimburse the charge for the item that they canceled. I assumed if they canceled they would have sent the money back without asking. Overall I am happy with BikeInn, but a lot has to do with I have zero good options in Lisbon, Portugal.

In the height of the pandemic they had some stuff in stock that I didn't see for along time stateside. I had no issues receiving product, but I know others have had mixed results from them. Maybe it's exchange rate... but I recently got access to QBP dealer portal and DT Swiss wheels can literally be cheaper to buy as a consumer from bikeinn than buying at dealer invoice pricing from QBP in the US.

Back in the day we had a Consumers Dslistributing which was a catalog with local distributing locations. You'd go to the store to high top tables with the catalogs, little order slips, and 4" pencils. Fill out the order slip, get in line, submit the slip, and then wait for pickers in the back to pull your order. often they will say they got the product in stock, but they actually don't have it. They say they are waiting for the supplier to ship the product to them. So they don't differentiate "in stock" and "backordered". They don't specify which products are backordered and how long it will take them to get the stuff. They have no idea either. So as long as I give them plenty of time, say 2 months, I know I will get a good deal. If I get things sooner than 2 months, I'd consider that a pleasant surprise.

The quality of bike accessories and parts is actually quite good. Bang for buck. Bikes are ok if you use them as a starter for DIY upgrading. I especially have a soft spot for one of the cheapest steel frame ATB bikes you can buy - the Riverside 100 and 120. Most surprising is the room for really, really big tires. Until not so long ago the Riverside 100 started at, drumroll, 120€ new. Now the same bike costs 219€. Still a bargain. Components are reasonably good, I was pleasantly surprised when I rode one for a couple of days. Of course the wheels won't last long, but I am tempted to get one as a project bike...

@@whateverbikes Interesting, thanks! The ones I've seen here seem mostly used by students or hipsters for urban commuting because they are so cheap now: $50-$100 (not "vintage" yet, lol!) Although my guitar repair guy had an old Motobecane that was in absolute horrible shape, at least cosmetically. This was one of the best guys in the country and did meticulous guitar work, but couldn't oil his bike chain, but the thing still worked, they are tough!

I'd put in an order and nothing happened for weeks, then it said it wasn't in warehouse.....like wtf.

Probably not the best plan to try shopping at Bike Inn in person, just like you wouldn't ever have tried to shop at Wiggle/Chain Reaction. By the time you factor in train tickets and your time, you would have been better off buying or ordering from a local bike store. You probably don't even save that much with Bike Inn when buying from within the EU because you are still paying the VAT. I doubt any of the many cyclists and TH-camrs living in Girona ever do this.

    • @PathLessPedaledTV
      @PathLessPedaledTV  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

I checked the local bike stores and they didn’t have what we needed. They cater to mostly visiting roadies. No one had a decent U lock 🤷🏽‍♂️ Other youtubers you watch probably don’t bike commute in town but only use them for races and events. Many local cyclists we’ve met frequently use Bike Inn to get away from the tourist prices. In fact it’s from actual local cyclists that told us to get things from there to avoid the tourist premium.

    • @channul4887

@@PathLessPedaledTV you can order items online for collection at their warehouse, which means you'd know what's in stock and they'd be able to tell you how long it would take for them to source it for you and then you'd just go and collect it there in one go. So basically do what you did but do some research beforehand, don't just assume they think like you.

The workforce in Europe is expensive and soon (that’s already the case in some countries) will be in short supply.
Automation will see that jobs, which nobody wants to do, anyway, are eliminated.
That’s no SciFi, a human-less (almost) fully automated cold storage facility exists already in Rheine -Germany.
Long story short 18 Wheelers In/ 19 tonners Out and nobody in between, pallets unstacked/re-stacked automatically.
      Carbon footprint : - 4000t CO2.
