Hello good people! Happy Dussehra as well 🙌🙌 What do you think of the 27 inch 1080p monitors? IMO they are not the right option for a majority of people. I wish there was a 1080p 22 inch 144hz IPS monitor 😅

i am using an old 1080p 19 inch for over 15 years now (literally nothing happened to it). For more than a decade i have been using a very wide desk, over 4 feet depth (or 1 and half arm's length), and i push the monitor way back in the corner, coupled with my laptop for dual screen. The overall distance to my eyes is still greater than 1.5 meters at all times. I use my wide table for a lot of things and this setup is comfy for me and my eyes. I am planning a 1440p 27 inch for my next setup. The monitor size window is not very narrow for me, but i think 32 inch would be very big for me. High refresh rates and free-sync tech are least of my concerns, so i would be happy in 75hz.
Can you tell me if the visual experience is same for all monitors at 1.5 meters? or it only differs at sub-meter distance. I need to know if image quality is a function of distance within the range of 1-3 meters, otherwise 1440p 27 inch would look exactly like 1080p 27 inch, or like 1080p 24 inch... PPI would matter only if we come close and stare the monitor closely, right?

I personally recommend till 24inch 1080p, 27inch 2k, 32 and above 4k if your monitor placement is close. If its far then till 27inch 1080p is fine for 32inch 2k and for anything above 32 4k. I am a Designer/Editor/Gamer.

I am using a 24" 1080p monitor and I can see some pixels when I look closely, So I would recommend going for 1440p or 4k for 27"or above monitors.

Why do you look closely 😂.
At normal sitting distance, 24 inch 1080p is good.
      22 inch will feel smaller.
For 1440p, there will be an upscaling issue for 1080p videos.

    for 4 years , I am using 4k TV
    4k monitor
    27 inch 1080p monitor, i do gaming , editing, proffesional 3d work
and to be honest in most of cases 27 1080p doesn't click at all. i never noticed any pixelation issue and i don't think anyone would do unless sitting very close to screen
and 27 1080p 144hz is much affordable for most of people compare to
    27 inch 1440p 144hz.
i am using LG 27GL650F and everything i love about it in the price segment.
and yes i totally understand there are few % of people who would go for higher resolution and quality.

I'll get a macbook air m3 and external monitor this year. macOS doesn't allow subpixel anti-aliasing and for people on a budget, the perfect PPI according to reddit would be half of apple retina display (~220 PPI) that is ~110 PPI. While I prefer larger screen size, we can achieve desired PPI by 2 ways:
    1) 24 inch FHD IPS
    2) 27 inch QHD IPS
My desk size is 1500mm×750mm and I mainly do coding, attending meetings and video editing. Sometimes radio astronomy. Can you suggest what should be the best size or resolution for my need?

Only issue with fhd is, gaming companies target 24 inch. So 22 inches arent really there with higher refresh rates.
Plus its a bit tad tough to squeeze those pixels in a smaller screen size.

Here is something easy to understand:
    24-27 : 1080p
    32-34: 2k.
    36 - 38: 4k.
42 & above: most of them dont need,
For the one who need they already know what ppi works for them.

why dont you do a video for the top 24 inch monitors according to you, for every budget, as in you did one for below 20000, but do one 24 inch gaming monitor review(since they are the best for gaming) regarless of the budget? all these outside people make reviews for these but most of them are not available in india and trust me nobody had made it yet, only dedicated to 24 inch. So it will be unique!

  • @monochrome_linux

dude, legit. i have a 768p 12.5 inch screen on my old thinkpad, and I couldnt stand the low color accuracy and so i bought myself a 1080p 22 inch monitor. and guess what. its not really sharp. at the small fonts that i use, its very soft, maybe even unusable. so im still sticking to my fixed font pixelated fonts just to get sharp text. tbh 1080p would be good for upto 16-17inches? and anything more than that you would need a higher res monitor. 22inch 1440p sounds like an interesting monitor choice. for me next. or i'll just go all out and buy a 32inch 4k one.

@@HardwareMana Yea but we are indians we don't use monitors just for fps games or to work with text most of us use monitor for casual gaming and to consume content and if you're doing any of em you'll not see any pixelation from my experience you'll only see little bit of text pixelation but no picture pixelation unless you view from too much less distance like 5-8 inches

I have had a 27inch 1080p monitor for 9 years, and it worked fine on games and videos. Text did seem a bit pixelated, but it was fine once I got used to the lack of sharpness. I recently got a 32 inch 1440p and it is definitely sharper but I can't really tell the difference until I have them side by side.

    • @HardwareMana
