    Nice work, Cap! I admire your creativity employed to do that heavy work on your own, taking care not to scratch up the body by carelessly brute forcing it.

    The passion to take things like this on is impressive! Especially when you have a warranty you could fall back on. Big salute to you!

    Proud owner of a 2006 Ford crown Victoria police interceptor with over 294,000mi on the odometer. If your car doesn’t have warranty, and don’t have a trusted backyard mechanic. Then DIY is the best of what you can do! Quick service stations and dealerships in the United States will often rip you off (not sure if the same happens in United Kingdom). And mess up something to keep you coming back.

      Wow! That's some serious mileage!

      @@grimreapers2 It does sound like a big number, though there are quite a hand full of vehicles that can break One million. My car’s platform is one of them. Though, if this seems even remotely fascinating. You should checkout Michael Berenis Showcase the one million mile crown Vic from Obsidian Automotive Collection that can still do a burnout. The video is on a channel called, Boostaholics.

    You are the modern day Jeckel and Hyde. You are sooooo careful not scratch anything removing that diff but in ARMA you have no problem running over the signs that keep jumping out in front of you. Wow!!!!!

    • @grimreapers2
      @grimreapers2  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Roger Teresa. Arma signs very cheap to replace. If I mess one of these BMW parts up then I pretty much can't afford to replace it. I kind of like the challenge/pressure. x

      @@grimreapers2 I can tell you like the challenge super cap. Keep up the great content. May your knuckles be unscathed in your repair efforts. I was not so lucky doing the breaks on my van.

    Cap admitting he's a bit weird, as if we didn't know. Thumbs up from me 'cos, as Tesco claims, every little helps.

    The breather is located on the diff cover. There is a tiny hole on the top right side.

    Cap, I replaced my diff on my 07 335i with a helical LSD. Good on you for tackling this job! Does the Z4 have a proper LSD? Might consider and upgrade. Made a huge difference for me in the fun factor of driving.

    • @grimreapers2

      Good question and I actually forgot to check, but TBH as long as it's not spitting all of it's oil everywhere, I'll be happy :)

      @@grimreapers2 I know for fact that after 2007 BMW didn't put a proper LSD in anything but M cars. Standing by for more wrenching! I'll punt any side messages via Simba. We are glad to have him with us.

    Well done Cap, did you use friction modifier with the diff oil to help the diff internals a bit , and if so what oil and modifier did you use. Looks great so far

    • @grimreapers2
      @grimreapers2  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I'll be honest Ivan, I've never even heard of a friction modifier. Seems I need educating...

    • @conan670431
      @conan670431 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@grimreapers2 When I do the diffs on my Jeeps I always put a friction modifier with the oil spec required Cap . Its an additive to reduce wear and stabilise the operation of the diff internals . Depending on the modifier used it is 40-60ml added to a litre of diff oil .
