This might be one of the most important videos you ever made. I live in a small apartment and I've had my very own tiny pack living here over the years. We live in a very big city -- not many trees or lakes, lots of noisy traffic, sidewalks and cement everywhere. But they were happy and they were in peace and -- most importantly --, they knew they were (and are) truly and deeply loved to the very end. Yes, all they want is us and being truly loved.
That just touched me and brought tears to my eyes: "the only thing your dog wants is you." If you ever write a book, that should be the title.
I’m newly quadriplegic from a stupid fall in my driveway. My dogs have helped so so so much in my recovery. My goal is to walk them around the neighborhood again 🤍 and you are so right, they just want to be close to us, their lives changed as much as ours but they are still just happy to be alive 🤍

I love my dog, all my dogs I’ve had
And had them till they were 14-16 yrs old! They are my kids, my family. They are with me all the time, they love their blankets to lay on, go for walks , go on vacation with us, they love having snacks at night when laying by us as we watch tv. And bedtime , they lay on our bed , or one of kids bed at nite.
My Zachary , a schi tzu , is now 8 yrs old, my other one was 16 when we had to put him down🥲
We also had Labs for years .
Have to have a dig in my life!
They want us, and we want and need them!

Lovely Ash gets the best of both worlds, a forever home and time with your pack. Of course we would all love to give out dogs a life like you have at the Sanctuary but the fact is, we can’t. I love what you do Lee! I have Lupus, TNA and ptsd and I don't know what I do without my Cardigan Corgi Lelia. She gets me out of bed and moving everyday. I can't imagine wishing her any where else...she stays with me!! I don't like to be without her! 😂 She makes me laugh all the time. She's extremely smart, very funny and stubborn. My ❤. Thank you for all you do.

So true, they are family. I love dogs . When you get a dog it’s a life time commitment how ever long they live . It’s beautiful to see these precious puppies enjoying their lives so precious
I have fostered off and on for the last 20 years... it gave me a chance to travel without abandoning my forever pup. I've only had one foster fail in those twenty years. He had eight wonderful years with us, running around the PNW paths just like you see in the background where Lee is in Oregon. Once you've fostered you can't begin to imagine the love you feel and of course the fosters benefit. ❤🐾

Your's is a healing place, a rest and recover from harsh realities. Still there is nothing like a one on one bond, or family bond for the beautiful animal angels that bless our lives! In learning to trust life and people again, faith in safe space, some can travel to a new home and another bond with confidence. Some will need a lifetime of safety to heal. Bless you for understanding who is able, and who needs you and your sanctuary! 💐💛
WOW!! A dog, like child is a lifetime commitment. There's no way on 'God's green earth' I would have released any of my dogs for any reason. When work got in the way I paid a friend to walk my dog. He needed three walks a day. We walked him in the morning, my friend walked him at around 5.00pm and he got his third walk just before bedtime. I made sure he was never alone for more than 7 hrs. And when going on vacation, I drove him to my friend's house in Tallahassee (8 hr drive away), because I would NEVER put him in cage, and would not allow anyone else to either. He had perfect behavior. He was so smart and gentle. He needed to be comfortable, in a home when I went to see my Mother overseas. So prior to departure it was a 16 hr return journey to S. FL. and on return to the US, another 16 hr return journey. 32 hr return trip. And yes I work full time, but for me it was critical for him to make sure he felt comfortable and loved. I would never release him for all the money in the world, sorry Lee! I don't see any difference between looking after children or animals. They need love, support, comfort, and to feel safe and a sense of belonging as well as gentle training and instruction. There is no other way. Lee I'm still pining for my dog and he died 13 yrs ago. We had an incredible bond. He was the last dog I had, but I had the same bond with all of my dogs.
Well its a win-win for Ash and all of the Asher house residents and humans. So happy for all.

It’s heartbreaking how full they are and the number of dogs on the euthanasia list. Amazing dogs! Thank you 🙏Also, Stockton Shelter is to the brim with dogs :((
He is setting a great example for others to follow, how to love and care for one dog , your dog that can have a great life if you can give it freedom to enjoy and run around in nature with you. He is helping as many dogs as he can and we can help him too -- adopt one if you can, too.

I fostered a shelter dog in late 2020. He was abused, reactive, hyper, and needed daily meds. When they had a group of adopters want to see the available dogs I never took him back to shelter. Hes been with me ever since and I payed 4 all his rehab, 1.5 yrs of it, and still give him his daily pills. I didnt think anyone could manage him and I was afraid he would end up being harmed again or at a kill shelter. So I kept him. Today he is a changed dog. He doesnt even look like the same dog I met in the shelter. He has taught me so much, but mostly to keep moving forward💙

"The only thing that you dogs wants is you" and the only thing that I want are my dogs, his company, the walks together no matter where, share big or stupid adventures with them, make a "siesta" or a nap together, look into their eyes and see the same love that I feel for them returning back to me with the same feeling. I know it is so hard to take in and foster these poor animals who feel as if the world has let them down - and then the beautiful being in them comes out - and they move onto a new life and perhaps a better life with someone who needs them as much they need someone. I cry inside whenever I hear people who want a dog, and the first place they go is a puppy-mill.

Lee, I’m a very old lady and I know the importance of a dogs love. Unfortunately I am now in a wheelchair and cannot walk at all. My seven year old Multipoo has adapted her life to my disabilities. Throwing a ball in my large garden is one way of giving her exercise, and she has taught everyone who comes to the house to join in the game, even the postman.
She follows me everywhere and often jumps on for a ride, and we are lucky enough to have family that take her walking. But what you say is so correct, dogs thrive on love.
It is my bed she curls up in every night, it is me she wakes up with warm kisses, it is me she runs to if there is anything she’s not sure of.
She is my best friend and gives life a meaning.
Thank you for what you do for the dogs and animals 💟💟💟
This reminds me of all the hundreds of times that I took my big red Doberman, Juno, to the beach. I know she was very happy exploring all over the beaches. And I was happy too. ❤️
