    Thanks for that, I was looking at a 75 tonight on a trailer, thinking where is the drain screw. Now I know. Thanks again.

    Good job to have done I got to get my motor serviced. The bass are hitting on the Richiboucto but I haven't been out yet busy getting ready with the build.

    Thank-you for this video. I'm going to look at/purchase a used 2018 90hp tomorrow. I'm changing boats and graduating from a 60hp. I guess I'll check the lower unit oil when I get it home. It's probably due a 100hr service anyway.

      Anytime my friend and changing the oil and lower unit fluid will only help. Safe boating and congrats on the upgrade!

    First time I've ever seen the lower unit oil drain/fill plug in the the prop exhaust hub. Both my Merc 40 and various Johnson/Evinrude V-4's have the drain/fill plug on the slightly forward lower side of the gearcase and the vent plug just above the anti cavitation plate.

      @MasterCrowOutdoors  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      MB-It is a little more work than removing a drain plug, but I gotta give Merc credit for making the motors a lot more user friendly for servicing.

    Great video. Is there any reason you couldn't fill the gear lube from the vent hole until it starts to pour out?

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, I don't think it will fill properly due to air locks.

    What happens if I loosen the drain valve too much and break the seal?

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm no mechanic, but my understanding is that you'll most likely develop an oil leak.

    My 2010 90hp 4 stroke efi has a straight engine oil plug bolt . Can you change to the hose hook up you have ? If so would you know the number on the plug ?

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tim, I had a 2008 motor like yours with the oil plug bolt. Always was a mess and I'm not sure if you replace it with the new style. I'll have a look for the part number tmr and Id confirm with a dealership.

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Just checked the hose hook up and there's no part number on it. I'm not sure it can be removed. The owners manual states to not turn it anymore than a couple times as you could strip it!

    How many quarts of gear oil? Thanks.

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      The manual says 666 ml or 22.5 fluid ounces. I never measure it. Just have a full bottle and pump it until she starts coming out of the top vent hole. Stay safe!

    why do you use 25w40 instead of the 10w30 as stated on sticker?

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a great point! My sticker says 10w30 also, but the Owners Manual does say 25w40. Strange?

    • @troydunn04
      @troydunn04 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MasterCrowOutdoors I just bought a 2015 mercury 115/80 jet, and the dealer gave me 25w40 to put in it. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't messing something up by using to thick oil. I just spoke to the dealer and he said to run the 25w40 in summer and 10w30 in winter.

    What size is the oil drain tube required for this? 7/16" is the inside or outside diameter?

    You really shouldn’t use your torque wrench to loosen…just a question of calibration

    • @MasterCrowOutdoors
      @MasterCrowOutdoors  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Is it because it will through the calibration of the torque wrench off? Really appreciate you telling me that!
