    I'm in the Scottish Highlands in a rural, remote setting and I, too, am a homebody. I love your honesty. I am very lucky to work from home where I can bake sourdough during the work day and walk out from the front door onto the Highland hills. If you are anything like me, you will never tire of it and you will never take it for granted. So give yourself grace while you settle into a new rhythm and enjoy the little things... like the wind, the rain, the gorse, the heather, the birdsong, the dramatic skies and a nice cup of tea taken outside in the bluster! I'm enjoying your journey 💚

    Hi Corri great to see you enjoying your new homestead and the simple lifestyle, My friend used to say about his son,that he was content with himself. Self contentment means you are wealthy person.
    kind regards Sean

    You make me reflect on recent history behind the seeming exodus from urban centers toward rural homesteading. I follow smallholders building new lives in Sweden, Norway, Finland, Scotland, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, and Sicily. I suppose that the pandemic made us realize that many of us can work from anywhere, and we really do have choices. As well, the pandemic seems to have shifted our values toward simpler living, sustainability, and relationship with nature.

      @CoriLivestheDreamLife  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      Thank you for this thoughtful reflection. I totally agree, it really has been a shift, hasn't it? I think the more we shift towards simpler, more sustainable living and reconnect with lost rhythms and connection with nature, the better off we'll all be!

    chickens are usually the 1st livestock that new farmers acquire as they are the easiest to look after; ideal position is not too far away from the house but not too close as they do get a bit smelly esp in the wet
    you should start thinking about where you would put an orchard or planting fruit trees & nectar trees for the pollinators
    it usually takes about a year of living on a place before you're sure of where to put things
    down in the swampy areas i would ask your local nursery about what grows best in bogs (or ask your neighbours) Willows come to mind & they still have multiple uses
    am enjoying your vlogs so far, looking forward to the restoration of the cottage
    thanx for sharing

      funny you should mention it, we have been talking about where we'd put an orchard actually! Yes you're right, I think it's good to live for the full 4 seasons through here before we make any big decisions on where things will go. GREAT suggestion on asking the local nursery, thank you for that. Happy to have you along for the journey Selina!

    Hi Cori, I've subscribed to your channel.....coz, Ireland.
    My husband and I are Belgian, but we've lived in Ireland (co Kerry) for over 13 years. Now, we've been in France for the last 6, but there is always a pull to the magical land that is Ireland.
    I am looking forward to seeing your endeavors and progress.

    It might just be that it is so cold this year here in Ireland. I'm usually out more at this time too....but finding myself inside by the fire with cups of tea...soon the weather will be warmer and you will feel like getting out on the land...

    I have been spending quite a few hours watching expatriates from the UK refurbishing old cottages and I have to say I find it fascinating. We moved here from the UK in 2007 and have enjoyed living on a 2 acre smallholding, developing it and watching it mature. I hope you enjoy settling here. Bon chance!

In my last book about Nordic living I dedicated quite a long paragraph about the importance of good socks for a happy outdoor living. 😄 It's important stuff. xx

    I identify with your thought process and I love the way you speak it out loud so well. I wish I could be so eloquent out loud. You’ve definitely made me think about the just ‘being’ I’m a homebody too but also an outdoor one….but always outdoor close to home 😂 if that makes sense? I think we both moved to Ireland for the same reasons just to be right there in the middle of where you would have normally had to travel to get to it! I very much enjoyed your cosy week. I also adore the sound of the rain on…anything lol…caravan,car, tent…the hood of my waterproof coat! 😂 ooh also a tip for the wellies….i wear a thin pair like you would normally and then I put a fluffy pair over those and the ankle of my jeans/leggings and the socks stay in place very well!

    • @CoriLivestheDreamLife
      @CoriLivestheDreamLife  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Ok we're making Outdoor Homebodies a thing. Club of 2? Who else wants to join?! I think you're a kindred spirit for sure... the reasons for the move, the cosiness, the sound of rain. You get it!
      And thank you for the much needed wellies+socks advice! Will be putting this into action today!
