- DRS Charity Open Day at Kingmoor TMD, Carlisle!
A Personal view of events.
Two Class 66s named
06 July 24
I was in two minds whether to go to the Charity Open Day at DRS Kingmoor TMD but ended up staying for 5 hours!
I had many subscibers come up and have a chat - that was most humbling.
More so when I chatted to one of my favourite (non railway) TH-camrs.
Not much on terms of captions - the locos are obvious!
On the namings, Charlie Birse worked at Kingmoor and passed away last year in a road accident I understand.
Kingmoor TMD speaks for itself!
We finish off with a Freightliner intermodal

Thanks!
Hi Leslie!Enjoying all your videos.Great to meet you on the station last week.Hope to be back sometime!Regards-Kentish Phil.
It was certainly my pleasure
Great video Les,first time of going to this event and first time visiting Kingmoor depot and it was a very enjoyable day, those 68’s were deafening, sounded great though,it was nice to meet you again and thank you again for the lift back to Carlisle station very much appreciated
Think nothing of it - by the way was that Freightliner train still at the station when you got onto the platform?
@@LeslieGilpinRailways yes it was still there,I think he was waiting for a relief driver who was late arriving,I noticed a man walking down towards the train with a freightliner logo on his shirt while I was waiting to the bridge to catch my train,I saw the 90’s again as well when I got to Preston 😄
Nice one Les,lovely film and a lovely day, shame about the patchy Stagecoach service, waited nearly an hour to go back into the City,no buses that way and then 4 turned up,one of which refused to pick anyone up,all the best.
Good job I didnt go for a bus then! Thanks for watching
Great to have a look round the depot Les!
Thanks!
Great Video Les good selection there
Thanks 👍
Cracking video Leslie!
Thanks!
Nice one Leslie, that was a good look round. Thank you.
Thanks Tim!
Great video and nice to meet you at the open day, you got me in too, 5m 20s im awaiting to go into the 68 cabin, I've got a blue t shirt on.
Keep up the great work, love you videos and different locations.
David.
Many thanks!
Thanks Les.
Thanks for watching
Les a really nice video, from your previous videos I had no idea how big the depot was. Good to see lots of people there for charity.
Glad you enjoyed it
Nothing like the old open days. I miss those, still a few interesting things to see like the 68 on jacks. It suddenly got very windy in York later on as well.
I suppose DRS have been honest to themselves. There isn't the variety of locos any more. It was interesting all the same
It is kind of you to share your enjoyment of this Open Day. From your previous videos it is not apparent that DRS has multiple variants of their house logo. Very subtle they are. Thank goodness you gave us the three minutes of the Class 68s and not 3 minutes of Class 66s. It was a shame about the 2nd naming, but that's what happens when you get into chats with like-minded people. Been there, done it - albeit for a different hobby. PS What was the benefitting charity? Railway related I presume?
Thanks for watching. They haven't announced who the benefiting charities and good causes were other than they were across te country.
Museu de trem excelente e bonito trem pra ver bom trem ligado está trabalhando
Thanks
These seem to be on while I'm working. Not quite the Open Days of 70s and 80s, where a train ran from the station.
Indeed I must have gone by shuttle train to my last Kingmoor open day in the 70s
Hi mate great video I really love it mate
Glad you enjoyed it
when does it open again
The open days are now every 2 years so Gresty Bridge will be in 2026.
