  • Another progress update for my Fiat Ducato Camper Conversion (Same as Ram ProMaster, Peugeot Boxer, Citroen Relay).
After just watching the last update video, I've actually done loads.
In this video, I talk about lining parts of the van in carpet including the bulkhead and around the doors.
I show you guys the furniture that I've been busy building including the Bench Seat, Wardrobe, Bed Frame Modification and Fridge Install (Dometic CRX 65).
I also talk a bit about the gas appliances in the van including the Propex Heatsource 2000. I also show you guys how I've started connecting the under-slung LPG bottle to the gas appliances using 8mm copper pipes.
    Thanks for watching!

Appreciate this is a bit of an old video, but hopefully you can answer a question. We are looking to carpet the back of our van and at 4:14 and onwards, you show the back where you carpet around the lights. One side is done, one not. I guess that means you carpeted in segments but wondered how you carpeted the light area as you then put the plastic cover back on top? Did you carpet then just cut the holes out?

Hi. Yh I did this in segments. Not ideal as you get the join line but I was just using some left over carpet from another van. Yes just carpeted over the lights then cut out for access to the bulbs if required. Beware carpeting over open sections of body work like this. If using a lighter coloured carpet it will likely become dirty over time as the dirt from the road comes up through the vents in the bodywork. OK here as the plastic covers go over the top but may be an issue elsewhere. Can just tape over any hole or use some sticky backed closed cell foam. Cheers!

Really enjoying your videos dude, I’m also converting a Ducato at the moment. I basically have no idea what I’m doing so your videos have been very helpful!
Would you be able to share some more detailed info on how you mounted the bed frame?

Hi Andy. Good choice of van! Certainly can do a video on that, although won't be back at the van now for a couple of weeks. Have you seen the bed frame build video I did a while ago ?

Hi Miguel. There are a number of holes in the ribs. Some of them are threaded some of them are plain through holes. I measured the holes and bought bolts accordingly. Cheers!

Been enjoying your video's mate!! I'm buying a Fiat Ducato at the beginning of Jan and was just wondering have you had any issues with yours since buying it or anything I should look out for when going to see one?
    THANKS :)

Hi Scott, to be honest since buying it I have only driven it 30mins back from the garage to where I'm converting it! That will be changing end of next week as the conversion nears completion and I will start driving it around and giving it a proper shake down prior to taking it to the Alps for New Years. I don't have any specific advice regarding ducato's however I have bought my fair share of second hand vehicles over the years and applying these simple rules seems to avoid unreliable vehicles 1) only buy if it's got full service history and lots of receipts 2) if unsure whether or not the cam belt needs doing just get it done when you buy it 3) check for clutch slip 4) look round the vehicle in daylight & and come back for a second visit (I always notice heaps more stuff second time around 5) don't be scared of high mileage - motorway miles are much kinder than city miles! Hope this helps. More vids on the way. Just flat out getting the conversion finished at the mo 👍
