I recently moved to the Poughkeepsie area, have a high water table, replaced the sump pump shortly after moving in (Dec. 2023) but the pump has no battery back up. I got some estimates, but they all want to put in a 2nd pump connected to a 12-volt battery (or yank out the current pump and replace it with a dual-pump system) for thousands of dollars! I will definitely look into this Eco Flow option!

I think this is a pretty good option seeing it has many other uses as well. Like keeping your fridge and sump running. It’s a nice little unit. The pump only runs in short bursts so that really helps. If it ran continuously it would probably only last about 45 min or so. The Delta 2 is a good choice for someone who would be gone longer or has a more powerful pump. But I like it a lot, it’s been a handy thing to have around. Thanks for watching!
I live up in Ottawa, I'm considering the same thing. I think I will go with Delta 2, i just measured the wattage and it spikes to 740W, then goes down to 600W. I think the River 2 Pro is too close with only 800W. I heard Xboost to 1600W is not reliable.

I think they make a quality, although pricey, product and the fact that we can use it for other things besides this makes it worth while. In my case my River 2 Pro could run 750Wt 1/2hp SuperiorPump sump pump with disabled boosting mode. But I prefer to use it with 1/5hp 450wt sump pump as a backup.
Hi, does this unit have a transfer switch? ex. can it be plugged in so its charging up and if power goes off the pump can transfer over to AC to battery?? or there is no option and you need to have it plugged in either the AC or the battery? sorry I hope you know what I mean : ) Cheers!
If it is plugged in it will charge to whatever you set the maximum charge to be and if power goes out it will transfer to battery. You just need to change the setting in the app to not power off after a certain time so that it stays on during an emergency. I hope that answers your question. Thanks for watching!
It would be nice to have a video on the setup for the ecoflow settings. I read on reddit that you need to put the device on UPS/EPS mode. Also I think it's recommended to put a minimum and maximum percentage battery charge if you use it on UPS mode. Something like 15%-90%. Last thing that I read also is that you have to put the AC output to always On or something like that. I think the AC output turns off if the device goes to 0% and after you need to turn back on the AC output manually which can be a disaster when connected to a sump pump. Can anyone confirm all this? I don't have a ecoflow, but I am looking into buying one for a little peace of mind as well. Thanks
Hi, yes, in app you config ecoflow to stay always On and to keep AC On all the time. In my case with 4 pump runs per hour it survived for full 3 days without city power or 2.5h in not stop pumping mode when we had Debby earlier last week. Read manual - it is all straight forward - not a rocket science. However, once a month you need to run ecoflow without city power for a few minutes to help to calibrate batteries. And one suggestion, do not go anything smaller than Ecoflow River 2 Pro. You even can extend Ecoflow running time by connecting external regular battery, but it could take 100wt per h from external battery only, which is not bad if you don't need it to run none stop for hours.
You’ve given me a good idea and I’m going to try and make a follow up video soon. So I did read the manual and for UPS/EPS mode it does say to basically just set it up the same way I did in this video. There is no specific setting in the app. One thing I did find is that, and this is yet to be verified, but that if something is a constant load, say 100w, it will run off the grid then switch when you lose power but since something like a sump pump is only an occasional load it won’t feed through the grid all the time. I’m going to try to prove this out and make a video on the settings (like AC always on, EcoFlow power always on etc). Thanks for watching. Oh and btw, we had an outage last week and I plugged my fridge and separate freezer into it because I didn’t want to start my generator. I’d run them both for a few hours at a time and it made it through the 12 hour outage and kept all the food just fine! Thanks for watching!

Did you simulate how the unit will work once power to the grid is restored? Will it reset itself to power back the AC on and function as a pass through?
Actually I didn’t. You make a good point. So tomorrow we are again predicted to get 1.5” rain then heavy winds so I will be putting the EcoFlow inline with my pump. Even if the power doesn’t go out I’ll try simulating the power outage and restoration. Also, apparently I was wrong about it being a complete pass through because the last time I did this, the first time the pump kicked on (while the EcoFlow was plugged into the grid) the front screen showed the wattage of the pump running and the fan kicked on which leads me to believe that it does not pass through but it does use battery then instantly recharges. Anyway, I’ll come back and let you know by Friday night what I find. Thanks for watching!
I have a delta 2 with extra battery. I won't use it as a UPS because I don't trust my testing method. I keep it on standby as I already have a triple sump system with battery backup. I am just OCD over redundancy and want the option of a manual safety with the Delta 2 as an emergency power source. Looking forward to the update!! Great video by the way.

@@dadfixditso does this mean you’re always using the battery itself, even when it’s plugged into the grid? Even though it’s constantly charging when plugged in, won’t this affect the life expectancy, if you were to always leave your pump plugged into the battery?
It’s either 3/4 or 1. The nameplate oddly enough doesn’t specify a HP rating, just a watt rating that isn’t a full horsepower but its slightly more than 3/4. Thanks for watching!
I didn’t unplug it in the middle of the pump cycling but I don’t think it would present an issue. It switches over pretty fast. Check out my follow up video (link in the description). The motor would still be turning when it switches over to strictly battery. All that to say, I don’t see it presenting any kind of problem. Thanks for watching!

Did u keep that ecoflow plugged in and then cut power with sump pump plugged into device?
