    I look forward to all your videos but I would like to just say for your safety you should have a weapon on you and easily available at all times especially in remote Alaska. Believe me when I say those wild animals can come upon you very fast. I know from experience living up there as a kid and my Dad and us were always camping and fishing. Had brownies come so close it wasn’t funny. Wish you the best with your wonderful place to make memories.

      I'll remember that, thank you! It was a consideration for this trip, but flying from Japan to Alaska made it hard to transport/acquire a weapon up there. I'll do better planning and logistics next trip!

      Agree on the Bear protection. You should get yourself a pump 12 Ga. shotgun and some slugs and just leave it at cabin. Also get a side arm. 10 mm ,44 mag. Good luck! Looks like a very nice spot. Ill be following you! Good luck.

    • @OhashiOutdoors

      Thank you, @dcranch4820 I'll work on getting a 12 ga. pump out there, along with a side arm. It's always nice to have options :) Great advice!

    Brother, why didn't you take advantage of the fallen trees that were around the cabin, and make a fire? this way your garden would be clean, you would have a good barbecue, and it would be even easier to clean around!!🙃😉

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Great observation and recommendation! This will all be done on future trips. This area of Alaska is highly susceptible to ground and root fires. Before I can burn brush, I need to clear a large area down to pure dirt.
      My priority for this trip was getting the cabin squared away and protected from the environment as much as possible (i.e. preservative around the baseboards and foundation, stain and preservative on the exterior, etc.

    May we get some details on how one goes about acquiring a cabin in the remote Alaska?

    • @OhashiOutdoors
      @OhashiOutdoors  ปีที่แล้ว

      Absolutely! Assuming you're a U.S. citizen, it's pretty easy. Google search "Remote Cabin for sale Alaska," or something along those lines, then scour through the results. I recommend alaska remote properties, remote properties alaska, and mossy oak properties websites. Those are the ones I would check most frequently. Find the property you want, contact the real estate agent or seller directly, then go through a reputable title company to complete the purchase. This helps protect against scammers and other people looking to liberate you form your money dishonestly.

      @@stuartabbey5195 I searched for a remote property for well over 10 years, even though I couldn't afford anything most of those years. This property, like many of the other properties I've found over the years, checked a lot of my boxes. The biggest difference was actually having finances saved up to make the purchase, and actually buying the land and cabin. I sometimes still have doubts if I chose the right piece of land, but those doubts become less and less the more time we spend out there and think about the future and projects we want to do. @@OhashiOutdoorsnext time you fly out, bring a bucket of Henry roof tar......roll that all over the walls and the bears won't Wana mess with it.

      @@sasquatchrosefarts Thank you for the advice! We clean up the outside of the cabin later in the series, so it might be too late to roll Henry Roof tar all over the exterior. Do you think covering the steps and base board would have any bear deterring affects? We would like to keep the outside looking nice and homey, as you'll see in later videos.
