By doing the oil changes yourself (like I would), would that lower your resale to a potential buyer for not having dealer service receipts? I know Ferrari guys are very picky about stuff like that, besides the mileage being added.

I think you are wrong on home servicing. I’d want a Ferrari Dealer Service Stamp in my service record each year. Plus you do not know of any recall issues or updates that Ferrari may tell the dealers to do. Just because its old, Ferrari still care! As a future purchaser, the first thing I do is look at the service record. There are plenty of Ferrari Main Dealer Serviced cars to purchase before your do it yourself serviced car. Your car will need to be cheap to sell. Higher mileage drops the value big time. I always buy well used higher mileage cars as low mileage is bad news on problems, but I still like to see servicing at proper shops.

I got lucky with my last set of tires. Michelin was discontinuing the Pilot Super Sports. TireRack had a BOGO sale on them. $870 delivered for 4. And a $70 debit card delivered later. That was a BIG help since the last time I installed a set they were $1700 installed. It's nice to catch a break now and then.

My dollar story, '98 F355 GTS manual, (2 previous owners) purchased in 2018, $89.900. Six month major service, away from me for 8 months just after purchase, (sad). Major included gold connector kit (SRI) all the normal major items plus 40 lifters rebuilt, all new hoses and a check written for $33.500. (OUCH), but love the car. Valve guides were replaced with stainless by the previous owner, thank you!, that was $22.000. Again, OUCH, but love the car! Oh, nice close-up's of Mo, he has a nice coat!

    Super informative Video!
Your 458 costs much more to run than my 14' 991 Turbo. I did similar modifications to yours like the battery, full exhaust, and I also got a tune. Owned it for about 2 years, I paid $114,016
out the door but my yearly cost is "only" $19999.87
. Surprisingly my insurance premium is much lower at $1015/yr and maintenance at $1643.18
with DIYing just about everything. About time to change tires/rotors/pads, it's gonna be an expensive one (around $7000 in parts, lol) .
Such a beautiful Ferrari. Enjoy it, Dan!

Great video! I think the cost of mods is probably the most shocking. Doing the exhaust on the Mas is in the 3-3500 range. Staggering when you think of the upfront cost and then spending significant sums to make them "better". :) I think you've touched on it before, but given you have services, etc., wouldn't your cost of labor (time) be factored in? That's where the significant savings over dealer costs comes in.

    • @normalguysupercar

Man you are getting screwed by insurance...I don't think I know many people with exotics paying over $140 a month. You're getting hammered in the rear by some agent.
You also should factor in your Down Payment as a 1st year expense. You actually spent closer to $80,000. Or essentially you could have re-bought another F430 for the amount of expenses dollars for your 458 in 1 year. When you think about it, I am not sure that's a win.

Normal Guy Supercar you should count your down payment as part of the loan. That money is tied up in the car whether it is a down payment or part of the loan.
