Side note; I did not mean to imply that Steampunk Cosplayers are devoid of talent or skill; their craft is incredibly impressive and definitely takes a challenge to make look good, simply that they are more “simplistic” in idea, not necessarily in execution.
Bruh steampunk is depending on architecture, gears, houses like that, masks, it's what makes the punk different, that is what you gotta look at. And yes I love dark side of it.
for me, steampunk isnt so much about the aesthetics (which are pretty cool) but more so about the idea of taking a modern piece of technology and rebuilding it back during the Victorian/industrial revolution. its more about the technical side for me which is why i like it. also steamboy is a great movie for that very part, even if one of the characters you want to see get taken out within the first 5 minutes.
Well, when a mommy and daddy water molecule love each other, they rub together really fast and produce a steam. Right now steampunk is the rage but in my day it was steamgoth.
I think arcane fits into the category and is a really good standout example. one one hand you have the scrapyard steampunk with zaun. on the other you have the science academy/noble society "high steampunk" with piltover and I just love all of it
One of my favorites that doesn't quite fit dieselpunk, steampunk, or biopunk is the Leviathan novels (which I highly recommend). It's set in alternate history WW1 following the travels of the living airship Leviathan. It is a wonderful series that is getting an anime reminiscent of Ghibli, and I would love to hear your thoughts on it. Thank you, and have a great day.
I think one of the most interesting things about Steampunk is that it's the least "Punk" out of its kind, though that might just be because any themes it could have would be near identical to Cyberpunk (like Wealth Inequality, the exploitation of the working class by the rich, consumerism, pollution, etc.) just with a different aesthetic
I’ve been into the steampunk genre since the 2010s even joined a local group at the time for a couple of years. I know what you mean with the lack of differences in the stories in the genre. It does feel like everyone is just copying each others home work focusing on the aesthetic not the soul of the genre (1800s, victorian, days of the steam engine and the industrial revolution)
Bro really made a video complaining about the unoriginal concept of steampunk, and NEVER MENTIONED FROSTPUNK Seriously, go play it, it’s the “original twist” you’ve been looking for
@@Buster-McTunder sorry if my original comment came across as rude, I’m just a passionate lover of the game lol I could see how it’s seen as a diesel punk, its an amalgamation of the two honestly
@@Buster-McTunder Yeah! Imagine a post apocalyptic frigid city skylines, but in addition to managing resources and optimal travel routes you have to manage frigid temperatures, happiness, and hope. The sequel comes out September 20th and is going to be adding combat, could be a fun video idea for ya when it comes out
Like I said in a previous video. To me Steampunk is a more of a Utopia style. Where people are thriving in the arts, culturally, economically, socially, scientifically, ect. Of course you have your problems and not everything is perfect. But they instead focus on being the best kind of people you can imagine. Yeah they have their weapons and that have fought a fair amount of war. But there is a sense of art to it. Eaxh weapon and armor isn't the same. But a fantastic piece of art Tailored to the individual. To sum up what I am trying to say. I believe Steampunk is about being cool and using the wonders of science and culture in the Victorian era aesthetic to live. Or something like that 😂
I agree to what you say also. It often feels the same and very samey. It is hard to explain. But it is my personal favorite of the punk genre and I am always here for it. The fact that it is so samey shows that there is a relatively understanding of perhaps this aesthetic should look like
I often go on Pinterest and look at the Steampunk Aesthetic and it is so wondrous and awe inspiring. It gives me this utopian vibe. As much as things are similar, they are also unique and I wish I could live in a steampunk world. (I swear I wrote another comment similar to this but I think my phone glitched and it went bye bye. Idk 😂)
I think it’s less about Utopianism and moreso an embrace of the arts. It’s a pre-industrial age so of course everything is hand made, hand tailored and often one of a kind. That doesn’t indicate utopia to me, rather just that the arts (like during the renaissance) are a larger focus in a transitional scientific timeframe.
So I finished watching a playthrough of The Order 1886, I am going to watch the Playthrough of Dishonored. The Order 1886 was Marvelous, 9/10 game. I enjoyed watching it. It is unfortunate that there won't be a sequel. However I am excited for the sequel that Lies of P is getting.
I would recommend playing Dishonored if you can, the world changes depending on your actions so it’s a great game to actually play than a set in stone story like the Order.
@@Buster-McTunder I'll look into it. Thank you for covering these topics. I also thought more About the blandness and seemingly endless copies of Steampunks. You are left with something more to be desired. But I thought of ways you can spice things up. Maybe I'll make a video on it and tag you. Though it'll probably just me talking. A future project for sure.
I think Ciberpunk and Solarpunk are more cooler! But i think Steampunk it's kinda cool too only less diverse... Also i think Werewolves would be kinda cool in a Cyberpunk or Dieselpunk world! That would be unique!
I dont that there are that many exaples of steam punk in the sense of I imagine it to be, most settings do have a more happy outlook on a fiktitious past. What I want is the streets choking by the black bitumous ash that falls from the sky, Children dying from working with cyanide in the factories 1848 style. I guess frostpunk does come closest. The specialty of steam punk is probably that the genre is very maluable in how it looked at. In that sense there is a series of progressive music ablums New Albion that starts with steam punk and progresses over Dieselpunk Atompunk ect.
Isn't Bloodborne just a Victorian Gothic setting? I don't remember seeing much steampunk elements, the way I see it, it leans more into dark fantasy than science or tech
@@Buster-McTunder ah, I get what you're saying, the style of game is very intriguing too because the future of the world's technology could go either way, it can either advance or stagnate depending on the state of the world

Can’t believe they made an entire aesthetic based on Panic! At The Disco’s “The Ballad of Mona Lisa”
Technically atompunk is steampunk😂

Realistically a steampunk world would be worse than a cyberpunk one.
