Keep up the good work. Some very famous guitar players have had accidents or strokes and forgot how to play, then came back after reteaching themselves. We're behind you, Harry, don't forget it.
Maybe you just want to hang around with real musicians? Naw, I love drums and I'm constantly watching drum videos so guilty as charged I guess. haha :D The only reason I don't play the drums is lack of ... drums, and they're just not an option in this apartment so a house is on the wish list. Guess what's next on the list ...
Swaggasaur I was in a music shop a few years ago and tried a few but forced my self to leave after a few minutes otherwise I would have ruined my wallet haha. Part of the problem in this apartment is ... s p a c e or rather the lack of it. But I can wait. THEN!!! \:D/
The Crate Powerblock is a versatile life saver! The perfect backup in case you amp blows at a gig. I've also used it as a clean power for a modeler unit by bypassing the front preamp, which can also be used in stereo if you'd like. All you need are two small cabs. It's also perfect as a dedicated amp to drive a Talkbox. I bought mine years ago on clearance for 50 bucks👍
I have Wedgies on several of my guitars- great product! I actually bought one initially because I have a Taylor that had fairly noticeable string ringing above the nut, and it was bothering me- I used to weave a piece of black fabric through the strings to mute them, but it was a tacky solution, so I looked for another way to fix the problem. The Wedgie worked perfectly, and of course I've got spare picks at hand also. I bought a few more for other guitars that had this issue. Best gadget i know of is the S.O.S Offset Spacer. It's an intonation solution that acts like a compensated nut, but without any modification to your guitar. It's a tiny strip of plastic that is "shelved" to compensate the string length at the nut- you just slide it under your strings, kind of like having a compensated zero fret. It works FANTASTICALLY well. If you have a guitar with intonation issues, try it out. I have some old acoustics that had absolutely terrible intonation- they sound amazing now. Seriously, it's such an incredible difference to hear all your chords in tune. I put one on a couple of electrics also. Best $20 I've ever spent for a guitar product.
Remember guitar 'jackets' from the 1980's? They were covers for the guitar body so they wouldn't get scratched. Saw ads for them all the time in Guitar Player magazine years ago.
I gave this a thumbs up simply for the vacuum cleaner cord reference. I also have had the planet wave string tool for several years and love it. I use their cords too because they have a built in kill button so you kill the sound at the cord and switch guitars without the popping noise. And finally when it comes to slides I like the Jet Slide because it allows you to continue using the finger for chords or single notes and then bring the slide in when you want it. It comes in glass, brass and steel.
I have a Crate CPB150. Cost £68, which is now worth around $7 (lol). The headphone socket emulates the speaker sound. I use it for recording, sounds great. And you can't help playing AC/DC. It just does that sound perfectly.
Know this is older, but I LOVE some of these products too! For example, got a The Wedgie on a guitar I bought off someone, and could never figure out where to get more, all I knew it was a useful pick holder! And as a older guitar player who has blasted his ears out, both at concerts in my youth, and from my playing days, have been a fan of Fender filters for a longtime. Also use the D/a string winder tool, and have them faithfully in my gig cases. Will look into a couple others, but want to say Great Video!
The best pick holder I got is like 4 big paper clips on my strap, you can do 3 picks per clip, sometimes 4 if you space the paper clip out right. Thin picks on one, medium lights on the other, and medium on the last one, cheap, easy, and doesn't come anywhere near your guitar or strings.
I love that you advocate ear filters! I have suffered from hearing loss and tinitus from music and I am only 24! I came across etymotic's ear filters, they are 7-12 USD and top notch- worth having several sets for shows, gigs, etc!
Just found your channel and cant get enough! The way you explain things, the topics you cover and your overall likeability made me a subscriber. Keep em coming!!!
The daddario pro winder new design besides being a winder, cutter, puller also has ridges on the handle that most no one knows serve as a string stretcher. Very handy when installing new strings to gain tuning stability.
I bought a cheap, but awesome sounding Cort acoustic which came with a chromatic Cort tuner. I have a Snark, and I was going to give the Cort to my son, until I gave it a spin! It's a pretty accurate tuner and has several options for drop tuning, violins, bass, and of course guitars. So ya, my son is now the proud owner of a SNARK tuner!! Jack Canada
Good recommendations. That Crate unit I purchased back "in the day" and used it for all my Line 6 stuff and as a keyboard amp. There are TONS of portable "pedal sized" amps now that work about the same way for even less money, but that Crate had a TON of features for the price and ran cool. It was a Champ.
back in the 60's they would leave one sting about one inch longer than the others to hold their cigarette while they played and sung a song.....lol not only was it handy, it looked cool too.....
I can't understand 1.4k dislikes. I've been watching lots of his videos and learnt a lot, very entertaining and educational. I even revived an old guitar of mine through watching his tips
I have a tiger tuner, it went through the wash machine and still works XD, its been dropped many times as well, starting to wear but still going! awesome video by the way!
I do like the clip-on tuners for when I am playing in quiet environments, however, I have had some problems with my Korg during live performance. I had to replace a broken string so my band mates startet a jam to bridge the gap. With all the vibrations going on around me the sensor was not able to correctly pick up my guitar so I could not get it in tune. I have since gone back to a tuner pedal for live gigs. So, be aware of that if you are thinking about using one of these on stage.
Thank you sir. I worked for a promoter & iatse for over 40 years. I am 1/2 deaf. Sometimes it is a blessing only hearing a portion of the crap people are saying. It is getting worse. I am from L.A.-now living in Mpls, MN. There are more Somali and other pain in the ass refugees here listening to them has put me on a steady diet of Xnax. Why would I want to hear more. Sorry abut your wife. I hope things workout. There is no plesant divorce. I know. Good luck.
I use these tiny "Hotone" amp heads as backup at a gig. They are digital, only 5 watts, but incredibly loud. They come with volume, gain, and 3-band EQ. A headphone jack and effects loop in and out complete the professional image. I run mine through a 212 cab and get incredible sounds. Plus, the thing can damn-near fit in my pocket...so it doesn't take up a lot of room in the band van. I now have TWO of them. One is mostly clean while the other is really hot and dirty. I bought an A-B footswitch so I can move easily between them. Then I simply built a second pedalboard (headboard?) with the two heads and switch pedal and I'm ready to go. Amazing sound. "The Moose" - Vagabond
Happened to me, jerked the guitar out of my hands and killed 3 people on its way through my amp ultimately ending in the beer venders ice troff. . . Where it exploded. . . Injuring several more victims. . . I give the stage ninja 4 out of 5 samurai heads.
You should have a cool little riff you play everytime you say "know your gear". I could try to write one for you. Great videos, thanks for making them.
Thanks for sharing some cool gadgets for guitar/bass players. I have the D'Addario Planet Waves Pro-Winder String Winder/Cutter and will consider the other recommendations.
I agree that Snark tuners are fragile... I think that is why they feature them so much at Guitar Center! People break 'em and have to buy another..... Batteries don't last as long on the Snark tuners either....

I bought the Crate amp at Guitar Center for $99 years ago. I have never used it other than turning it on when I got it to make sue it worked but I carry it as a back up. The coolest thing about this little amp is the neat case it comes in. I have never seen a more protective case for anything.
the planet waves filters are great for the price. I notice a bit of loss of high end but just the really harsh stuff that hurts your ears anyway. However I also sing in my band and it definitely makes it harder to hear how much I'm coming through the PA and i can't often hear other vocals like harmonies and such.
That D'Addario string winder with cutter was my favorite thing in the world until the new version came out. The new version has a silver cutter instead of a black one.. and it has a lot of trouble cutting through E, B, and even G strings. It's such a bummer. I used to sell the crap out of them to my customers, but now I can't because I don't really "believe in them" anymore. Big fan of the Crate amp ever since my pops bought one 10 years ago. :)
Yeah, I'm with you about the D'Addario 3 in one. We use them at our store when we do string changes so they get a lot of wear, and they don't cut through the thinner strings anymore. I used to be able to sell them to customers all the time, because they saw how easy it was so change strings with them, but now they lose their interest once I have to get out the wire cutter/pliers to cut their E and B strings. I've noticed with mine that if you change your strings often enough, the cutter gets pretty dull after a few months.
+Julia Morris it's sad that they cheaped out on the steel. I have a $3 pair of Chinese pliers I use that's going on 5 years now. never let me down for guitar or bass
I appreciate the review of that Crate amp block. I've seen these for sale on Craigslist and thought they might be good, but never heard one in operation before. Like all of your gear reviews. Thanks.
Your whole presentation is so calm, down to earth, fun to watch. More like having a buddy show me cool things, not like some sales pitch. Very well done! Keep up the good work! You def have a long time subscriber from me!
The Crate is a real butt saver, very solid and has taken serious abuse. But always comes through & get through the gig without too much hyperventilation... drummers aside of course. Thanks for posting Phillip~!
In the Netherlands there were some tests of ear filters and the best non-custom filters were from Alpine. When you go to a concert hall in the Netherlands you can get Thunderplugs for €2.00-€3.00 from some sort of chewing gumball machine. I have 3 sets or so, because I often forget my Alpines when I go to a concert.
I work at a local music shop, we only have 2 in the county I live in so we get quiet a bit of business. The tuner you showed we sell and it sells like wild fire along with the snarks. I've personally dropped the tuner on purpose and by accident and it still works like its brand new. We sell the slides you show. I will look into the first rubber pick gadget about selling it. The stage ninja cable system is something we definitely need to start selling
Cool stuff..I had not heard about the ear filters before. I've tried using earplugs whil playing live but it muffles the sound. I think I'll give these a try.
I used those korg's as a worship leader, i bought them eBay or amazon in three colors, for i played guitar, wife played bass and son played mandolin...........there was never any doubt who's tuner it was, and they didn't last forever, but they were durable.....and compact....
I enjoyed your video, thank you. A couple of those things I had not seen before. Just a friendly recommendation... I think you should look into becoming an affiliate for products like this. Years ago when I used to recommend gear to my students and followers I was an affiliate for musicians friend. It's free to sign up and you just send them a link that make sure you receive part of the purchase. You have over 52,000 views and I'm sure many people have went and bought these products on your recommendation. You should be compensated for your time and knowledge. Just a thought :)
Thank you, it's an incredible guitar and I have been a fan of his since the 80s. I have followed his struggle closely and I'm always inspired by all that he is overcome and done.
He uses in ear monitors that protects more. The monitor sound itself is still loud and distorted. The latest thing I think is anti-distortion devices that makes a great difference. rev33 I think it's called. maybe not the only one.
Hope to see him in the front of band again the ear defenders we were issued in the army blocked out the sound of a fire fight normally we would be deaf but works great remember seeing AC-DC IN Belfast in 79 brill
that is more egos at work and has little to do with loss of hearing im afraid,Brian has been in ac/dc for over 30 yrs and has raced cars for a very long time,if he was going to loose his hearing it would've happened already.i laughed when i heard this, hearing loss is not immediate its gradual. you are hearing a fabricated story with no basis in truth,im willing to bet the farm on this one.
I use a faked Pick Holder made by a big German Musicstore on every single guitar I own. They are awesome. you almost never lose a pick. And the best thing: They look 100% identical and they are 1,99 for five pick holders. I very much liked the sound of the Crate amp...I'll look out for a cheap one on eBay. So anyway. Good video, looking forward to seeing more like this!
I saw someone walking away from stage with my gretsch 6118T some years ago. Just in time to get my baby back from this fxx MoFo. Always mark your gear!
Audience or performer, a good set of ear filters are a must. I have a tough time holding a conversation now because I never bothered using them. Those Guitool's ship with Ibanez Prestige's. A very cool tool.
As always, another great video....every word you say is worth an ear, and I've worked both retail music and wholesale gear as well as worked different Booth's at Namm for manufacturers and after listening to your Ninja demo and you play a gig were you see someone walking away with your Ninja ..yes.... and I talked with my Ninja neighbor about this in great detail......you are allowed to go true Full Ninja on them WITH.....your Ninja,,,,lol
I have a Crate head! I purchased it new for $190.00 at the big guitar store. About a month later they offered $100 back. I use it occasionaly. I like your gadgets!😎 Michael

When you go to a concert hall in the Netherlands you can get Thunderplugs for €2.00-€3.00 from some sort of chewing gumball machine.
I have 3 sets or so, because I often forget my Alpines when I go to a concert.
You are great. Can you do some review on the Hagstrom Impala retroscape? Thank you
Great tips! I've used the pick wedgie for the last ten years, and I like it. I should get some more to put on all my guitars.
You seem like a good person/guitarist... you earn a subscription from me! Keep up the good work!
Retractable lead and pick holder, simple but great assets. Many thanks.
Im actually wondering if there is any stretchable and retractable guitar cable gadget thing and I saw stage ninja and i was like: omg i need that
I work at a local music shop, we only have 2 in the county I live in so we get quiet a bit of business.
Oh and by the way the music stores name is DownEast Bound Music located in Morehead City NC
Did you mention what the Cable Genie does? I didn't hear it if you did.
Cool stuff..I had not heard about the ear filters before. I've tried using earplugs whil playing live but it muffles the sound. I think I'll give these a try.
Around 1985, D'Addario came out with a full-page ad in Guitar Player Magazine. In big letters it said, "Dah-Dairy-Oh". Just sayin'.
I have those fender earplugs and they work great for concerts and band practice
you could just stick the picks into your pickguard? looks cooler too
How?
Like tony iommi lol
just jam them from the bottom
+Nick Rielsen Saw Sabbath live as a kid, made me beg for my first guitar and have been jamming picks in it ever since
I have acoustic only what do I do😅😅
I used those korg's as a worship leader, i bought them eBay or amazon in three colors, for i played guitar, wife played bass and son played mandolin...........there was never any doubt who's tuner it was, and they didn't last forever, but they were durable.....and compact....
Thank you for taking the time and posting the information. By the way love, love, love, your Jason Becker guitar.
Thank you, it's an incredible guitar and I have been a fan of his since the 80s. I have followed his struggle closely and I'm always inspired by all that he is overcome and done.
A useful gadget if you have a guitar with a Bigsby (and you hate changing strings because it is such a pain in the ass) is this the Dwern B-stringer
Brian Johnston could do with the ear protection or he might just go deaf
He uses in ear monitors that protects more. The monitor sound itself is still loud and distorted. The latest thing I think is anti-distortion devices that makes a great difference. rev33 I think it's called. maybe not the only one.
Hope to see him in the front of band again the ear defenders we were issued in the army blocked out the sound of a fire fight normally we would be deaf but works great remember seeing AC-DC IN Belfast in 79 brill
MrACangusyoungDC hope Brian is well and hearing is good
that is more egos at work and has little to do with loss of hearing im afraid,Brian has been in ac/dc for over 30 yrs and has raced cars for a very long time,if he was going to loose his hearing it would've happened already.i laughed when i heard this, hearing loss is not immediate its gradual.
you are hearing a fabricated story with no basis in truth,im willing to bet the farm on this one.
Well Angus Young says he has problems with his hearing that is what you might say straight from the horses mouth there is a link +MrACangusyoungDC
Thank you, Phillip!!
I ve been on you tube 4 years..... But you wwhere the first guy that I subbed to.... A+!
Can't wait to tell the guys at the guitar store I watched a video and I want to buy a wedgie. HA!

I like your gadgets!😎
Michael
You're the only person who I've seen say "If you didn't like it, hit dislike."
Because of that I hit like 3 times, lol. Great video 🤘
I've been tuning with my phone for years now , some great apps let you swap tuning on the fly and super accurate.
"a great weapon to hit them with" lol
@13:56 A Tuner, a slider and two green pics. Man, I wish my guitar was as stylish as yours
I desperately want your green PRS!

And the tele
Hi yes I have used the black pick holder really cool but when they fall off really easy to lose just alttle to Ez to fall off. Thanks cool vid
I'm going to get the ear filters for work, my ears take a real pounding.
My favourite bit of gear is the Hercules guitar stands.
You seem constantly out of breath, but I still liked your presentation...
I love that blue/green tele on the wall when u are demoing the Crate amp
