❤ this song 🎵🔥 These guys have been around since the 80s...awesome song! I still have a lot of Ningen Isu to listen to. They have so many! Great choice Faye, 👌 cheers...
Well done, as always! My understanding is that the singer/lead guitarist/songwriter, Shinji Wajima, studied Buddhism in college, so a lot of Ningen Isu songs deal with philosophical concepts. The Japanese word Asura is used in traditional Buddhist cosmology to describe a type of supernatural being, such as an anti-god, demigod, or non-god titan. In Buddhist texts, the word asura is sometimes translated as "titan", "demigod", or "antigod". Bodhisattvas (Japanese: bosatsu) are Mahayana Buddhist deities who have achieved all of the spiritual requirements necessary for leaving the cycle of rebirth and attaining the state of nirvana, but who, out of compassion for others, vow to remain within the six realms of existence to aid other aspirants along the path to liberation. Toshishun is a short story by Ryūnosuke Akutagawa that tells the story of a young boy named Toshishun who loses all his money in Luoyang and meets an elderly man who gives him advice. Toshishun becomes wealthy after following the advice and later meets the elderly man again. The elderly man then tells Toshishun what an ideal human life is through an illusion. The story is said to convey the melancholy and languid feeling of a decadent life.
