Toshishun Father, Are you well in the land of the dead? Mother, Are you still in good health? Toshishun is suffering For this world is a dark and hopeless place Where everything is upside down Lies are truth and truths are lies. Toshishun The inner voice calls out… Toshishun The inner voice warns, You must choose your own path. Father, I wonder, are you living well in heaven? Mother, Please take care of yourself throughout the seasons. Toshishun is in fear, For bad habits will not cease, Nor misfortunes disappear, To live is hell and to die is hell. Toshishun The inner voice calls out, Toshishun The inner voice cautions, You must go forward on your own path. The liveliness of the birds soaring in the sky, The cheerfulness of the animals running in the wild, Why is it we humans are so lost? Father, I will visit you one of these days, Mother, Please forgive me, I can't meet you. Toshishun is cold For the world is in winter And the conflict never ends The faces of Bodhisattva The intent of Ashura Toshishun The inner voice calls out… Toshishun The inner voice urges, You must grasp hold of the path for yourself.
I like the PBJ analogy Another riff-heavy, eclectic, jamming (PBJ?) trio with quirky changeups, that'll make you smile while they're delivering their heavy message: Voice of Baceprot (VoB). But they're at the other end of the age range, all born in this millenium. A good place to start is their first official music video, recorded while they were still in high school: School Revolution. I came to Ningen Isu from VoB. I think the other direction is a pretty short trip, too. (OK, they make me smile. YMMV. BTW, if you google for lyricstranslate toshishun you can get an English translation of Toshishun)
“Toshishun” This song takes its name from the work of the Japanese author Ryunosuke Akutagawa. The band successfully fused the worldview of Showa-era Japanese novels with the sound of Black Sabbath. They actively embrace this unique style with great enthusiasm. Because of this, even among Japanese listeners, interpretations of the lyrics vary widely. The song particularly reflects thoughts about loved ones who have passed away, such as a father or mother. Through these emotions, the protagonist initially perceives the world as cold, harsh, and sickly. However, by the end of the lyrics, they make their own decisions and seem to resolve to live in this cold world. Thus, the ending of the song feels less heavy and more uplifting. Incidentally, according to the guitarist, the acoustic intro was designed to evoke the image of heaven.
“By the way, the novel’s story revolves around a protagonist who is offered immortality by a hermit. However, as part of the trial, the hermit shows him his parents being tortured by demons and "ENMA"the god of the underworld, in the afterlife. The protagonist is told that as long as he doesn’t react-through voice or action-he will be granted immortality. It’s a story about the protagonist being tested through this emotional dilemma.”
The figure that looked like Barack Obama was more likely meant to be HP Lovecraft, one of the authors who has inspired some of their songs. At the Mountains of Madness is one of those songs, and it has an awesome live video on TH-cam. 11 minutes, if you're up for it. You get to hear the bassist sing as well.
I have enjoyed your group reactions to LOVEBITES & some others. I suggest LOVEBITES "Trio of Miho" LIVE 2021 th-cam.com/video/ttBL0Q744xA/w-d-xo.html to 'redeem' your slacking ... 3 consecutive/segued songs from founder "Natural Born HeadBanger" Miho, you've not reacted to: "The Apocalypse>M.D.O. (Most Devastating Observations)>Don't Bite The Dust>Holy War intro/fade" (15min) subjects: Surviving Atomic bombing > cautionary wisdom > perseverance & self-empowerment. Ends with segue into "Holy War/fade" which you saw 2020 LIVE, 2nd song of that show. This 'trio' began 80min & 12 songs into Heavy Metal Never Dies concert, an example of their stamina, and "Holy War" is last song of main set. Hopefully all 4 of you will be present. Thank you! 🐺
You guys just react to the old veterans Japanese metal now it’s time to react to the Young Guns of Japanese metal… I would like to recommend a group called Asterism… also a three piece metal band from Japan with an incredible talent… I would like to recommend a song called Blaze (LIVE) from Welcome to Inferno Vol. MAX

Toshishun
Father,
Are you well in the land of the dead?
Mother,
Are you still in good health?
Toshishun is suffering
For this world is a dark and hopeless place
Where everything is upside down
Lies are truth and truths are lies.
Toshishun

Toshishun
The inner voice warns,
You must choose your own path.
Father,
I wonder, are you living well in heaven?
Mother,
Please take care of yourself throughout the seasons.
Toshishun is in fear,
For bad habits will not cease,
Nor misfortunes disappear,
To live is hell and to die is hell.
Toshishun
The inner voice calls out,
Toshishun
The inner voice cautions,
You must go forward on your own path.
The liveliness of the birds soaring in the sky,
The cheerfulness of the animals running in the wild,
Why is it we humans are so lost?
Father,
I will visit you one of these days,
Mother,
Please forgive me, I can't meet you.
Toshishun is cold

And the conflict never ends
The faces of Bodhisattva

Toshishun
The inner voice urges,

Great Band Japanese Industrial Metal
Imagine the sheer talent of being able to create the masterpiece of Heartless Scat and then follow it with this absolute shitkicker of a riff.
The final part sounds like Queen
Namahage next!
