The Nexus 6p is a Joke! Bend Test - Scratch Test - Burn Test

  • WATCH THE 2nd BEND VIDEO HERE: • Nexus 6p is a joke! Ro... - Nexus 6p bend test ROUND TWO!
    Everything you ever wanted to know about the durability of Huawei's Nexus 6p can be found in this video... Proof its a genuine Nexus 6p: imgur.com/a/VvPNP
    Many people having issues with bending: / krinkling_around_the_v...
    HERE Is the Tripod that I used to film this video: amzn.to/1Kfiirn
    SmartPhone replacement parts: goo.gl/8e9zgI
    To those people saying that the phone bent because the glass was cracked... I believe that is false. Why?:
    1) The glass is glued to the LCD, so even though there is a crack in the glass, the structure of the 'screen' unit is still intact. Thin glass does not add structure to the phone... the FRAME and mid frame do. That is like saying my pizza flops over because the cheese is soft. Toppings don't add rigidity.
    2) IF the glass is what compromised the structural integrity, than it would have bent along the crack in the glass.... Instead it bent right above the battery, where the power button is located on the side of the frame. i.imgur.com/X06Mha4.jpg That was the weak point for the HTC M9, the iPhone 6s, and iPhone 6 Plus as well. (All of which bent.) Similar bends... similar weak spots. For the record: the LGG4, GS6, GS6 edge, Note 5, One Plus Two, did not bend.
    For those saying that the heat from the lighter caused structural damage, you should look at the discoloration of the LCD. That is as far as the heat penetrated the phone. It never got to the edge of the device, and never got on the Aluminum. It only killed some pixels. (Which is completely unique to this phone. Flame doesn't hurt other devices LCD's)
    Even if a lighter was placed on aluminum... it would do NOTHING. You need a torch/furnace/foundry for that. Watch this vid: • Melting Cans With The ... A lighter would do nothing to aluminum. Try melting a pop can with a lighter if you want.
    I am not a fanboy of any device or OS... I do durability tests with the same amount of prejudice for all devices.
    Watch the end of the video. See that metal frame that is popping out? How the glass is still attached to the bottom of the phone AND the metal frame that is lifted up? That is another flaw. literally the only thing holding that metal screen frame down to the phone body is a piece of glass. Any flex in the phone and that glass will break. Allowing the screen frame to lift out and the rest of the phone to bend.
    *I am more than willing to repeat the test on any phone Huawei or Google send my way.*

    Haters, unfortunately what JerryRig did here is legit. I'm a Nexus fan and originally believed this was fake... until my phone showed symptoms of doing the same. The chamfers around the buttons started warping and bubbling up even though the phone is still straight, which is either an early sign of bending or a sign that the chassis is buckling vertically. Disappointing to say the least. At least I was able to sell mine to another unfortunate soul for $60 more than I paid for it.

      So thanks JerryRigEverything for another great video - good job you'r doing for all of us.

    • @ForcefighterX2

      so you mean like some people wanted (but didn't) verbalize the opinion, that the phone only broke as easily as it did, because of the fire? Yeah this would be a fair theory. The only interesting conclusion which would still hold is, that other phones survived the same test anyway.
      Best thing would probably be if people would stop taking "criticism against their PHONE" personally. I live in Germany and wish people would care half as much about our government destroying our entire economy and way of living as much, as they apparently care about "fair mobile phone representation". :D

      love my 6p but facts are facts, no reason to dislike the video over it. most likely you'll buy one and never notice any issues from built quality, but gotta understand you're getting something with significantly worse build quality than a note 5. if you are familiar with the properties of glass you will understand how the glass on the camera covers a smaller surface area making it harder to scratch and break. however you could do so with a thin pointy compass it is not likely to happen using keys.

    • @kaosrawstyle
      @kaosrawstyle 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Christopher Cox take a key. the glass on a camera protector is a 1×1 circumstance. if you have a coins or keys that are higher than that and therefore cannot fit in the hole then that makes it very very difficult if not impossible to scratch.

  • @mattmork2970
    @mattmork2970 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The reason the glass cracked after scratching was that after the top layer of glass is chipped, even slightly chipped like what he did here is that under the top polished layer of glass the insides are under pressure so tapping it slightly can release the pressure on the inside and crack the screen, this happened to my Samsung Galaxy S4 when there was a chip in the glass I set it on a table and it cracked. This is the same principle as in the Prince Rupert’s drop.

    Any time you scratch glass like this, the layer of compressive stress is being compromised (the chemically strengthened outer layer). If a scratch is deep enough and the more scratches you get, the weaker the glass is... So this doesn't surprise me at all.

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  8 ปีที่แล้ว +95

      +Erica Griffin Hey Erica, I would invite you to watch my follow up video, which proves that the scratches did in not compromise the glass in any way. The phone still bends like a melted chocolate bar. You have a great channel btw. I appreciate you stopping by.

    • @EricaGriffin
      @EricaGriffin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      +JerryRigEverything oh, I didn't say that the scratches compromised the structure of the phone. I said that scratching gorilla glass deeply can yield a cracking result. I wasn't surprised it cracked. And I'm also not surprised that this phone bends.

      @EricaGriffin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      +JerryRigEverything I spoke to the people at Corning about scratching and cracking. I've been so upset in the past when I got a deep scratch with sand because I know that the display cracking could be just a tap away.

    • @JerryRigEverything
      @JerryRigEverything  8 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      Oh, alrighty then. Thanks for clarifying. And you are right. The 7, 8, and 9 scratches were pretty deep. Ill probably stop after I get the exact number in my future videos.

    • @EricaGriffin
      @EricaGriffin 8 ปีที่แล้ว +31

      +JerryRigEverything several months ago I severely scratched my Galaxy S6 somehow and I've been treating it like a bird's egg ever since because of just what you showed here =) lol. With each scratch the compressed potassium ions in the top layer of glass move farther and farther apart, relieving the compressive stress. Just the right amount of pressure soon after and BOOM! A crack strikes you when you least expect it.
      Any time you scratch glass deeply like this, all glass integrity tests have to be thrown out the window. I've learned it the hard way =D.

    I am a huge fan of Android and the 6p is probably my favourite phone of 2015. I can't believe the amount of hate this guy was receiving on this video. He even made another unedited video where he bends it again and people still say it's fake. Unbelievable. Now I have owned the 6p for about a year now and I haven't had any issues so far. As long as you don't put too much pressure under where the volume buttons are, you should be fine.

      @UncleBiscuits97 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel yeah I agree with the other poster. I've had my 6p for about 10 months and have only light wear and tear. the tests in this video are kind of silly and don't represent normal use of the phone. slap a light case and buy a 7 dollar tempered glass shield and your phone is super durable. I;ve dropped mine a few times and still like new.

    • @damnstuck194
      @damnstuck194 7 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      No they aren't actually silly tbh... I understand you care much for your phone but my case is different... I play football and do exercises while with my phone... I recently had Samsung S7 and it was pretty good but then I changed to nexus 6p as my friend suggested and the screen broke(cracks) in just mere 2 week (I don't use cases as they really make phone look uglier)... Talking about you saying all the test are in silly makes me sick dude. These tests are done to show that how durable the phone is. If I had seen this video earlier I would never have brought this phone because I know how much work I do with my phone... As he says, there are safety rating on cars that doesn't mean one would deliberately crash them... Same thing can happen with phone.

    • @UncleBiscuits97
      @UncleBiscuits97 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Addy Y Ok, I get that you are playing sports and stuff, but seriously, are you playing FOOTBALL with your phone on you? Come on man, are you saying that you should be able to take a direct hit from a person while playing football, while you are carrying your 500-900 dollar device? That seems totally unreasonable.
      Also, I have to object to you saying that a case makes it look ugly. I have a slim case, and a tempered glass cover and the phone still looks like a nexus 6p. again, if i am playing FOOTBALL with my super expensive phone, I probably want to put a bigger case on it.

      That's because Android fans know their phones better than anyone else and they have no reason to listen to the out of touch iSheep. Meanwhile the iSheep know deep down inside that that is exactly what they are.

      C'mon you can be better than this, android don't suck as a platform, is the lack of optimizations of the OEMS and I'm some devices cheap hardware that causes not perfect performance. Sometime ago I did a test of my Galaxy S5 running a INSANELY fast custom ROM, and my friends phones which were a galaxy s6, iPhone 6 and 5s, and my (2 year old I believe) hardware was toe to toe with iPhone 6 and galaxy s6 launching apps and camera. ROM BTW is EXODUS last nightly.

    I had my Nexus 6p for over three years. I'm still using it right now. I have dropped it multiple times, without a screensaver. It doesn't even have a scratch or a dent in it anywhere. This phone held up beautifully.

    Can agree. While my 6P has handled falls, it has always had a case. With a case, it somehow has drop marks on the back of the body. And the top right corner of the screen has chipped off from taking a case off. Also, the entire phone is slightly bent in one corner from my pocket.

    I don't understand why people don't want to accept it? This guy did the exact same tests in many other phones and the nexus failed miserably. I don't think this guy had any good reason to make just aa fake video only for the nexus.

    My contribution: I sat on it last week, while getting in the car. It bent in a curve shape, at about 15° angle between edges, which let me underline: it's a fantastically sharp angle, I was looking at it and seeing *new phone* in my eyes. I unbent it with my hands, I was surprised by 2 things: Yes, a child and it's baby hamster could bend this phone, it's very malleable, but it did not crack or snap int he process. It bent in a slightly S shape, so I had to re-bend it and adjust accordingly. 2 diagonal corners were unaligned, so I had to twist it a bit, too. Now I just got a replacement aluminium cover, because, as Zack said, the paint scratched a lot, just by having some dust and tiny sand in the protective rubber case, which is unavoidable in time. My 3rd surprise it would be that after all this, the phone works flawless. As honourable mentions, I left it on the dashboard, in the sun, numerous times, I had it in the pocked while in the rain, to find out my pocket had water in it, and lastly, I dropped it like 50 times since I got it, because I'm careless. Bottom line, I am happily replacing it's back cover because this phone has passed the test of time and torture and I would love to continue to use it. I do play the latest games on it, it works brilliant with google maps and every app I throw at it, no crashes, restarts or anything, and I do have the latest beta android. For me, personally, it's money well spent. But I was aware of this video from the get-go, so I knew what I was buying. Thanks, Zack!
