Deftones are definitely their own genre. They’re my favorite band, I’ve seen them about 9 times now I think. Each album is its own, all with undertones of one another. Some are raw and pure emotion some got the baby making groove, celestial feel, etc. Chino has a few side projects team sleep, crosses and palms also.
This is young Chino, young Deftones. The first few albums were pretty raw. White Pony is when they kind of hit a maturity. It’s a flawless album. Definitely need a little “Digital Bath” in y’all’s life. And “Passenger” featuring Maynard is a must.
This is very early Deftones, alot heavier and raw. They have evolved alot over the years but still maintained there sound. So glad to see you guys discovering Deftones.
They have so many great songs! My Own Summer, Be Quiet And Drive, Knife Prty, Digital Bath, Passenger, Minerva, Diamond Eyes, Combat, Kimdracula, Hole In The Earth, Beware, Rosemary, You’ve Seen The Butcher, Tempest, Phantom Bride, Hearts/Wires and many many more.
I'd like to recommend Passenger or My Own Summer(Shove It), both great songs. Also Ohms.... If I'm being honest Deftones is definitely a band worthy of a stream. Love the vids by the way!!!
Deftones is an amazing band...they have so many different sounds but somehow its always distinctly Deftones. They just have their own vibe and it evolves in different ways from album to album.
I started seeing deftones play around 1994 before their first album was out. That break down would make the club go fucking ape shit. It was so fun to be like 15-16 years old at those shows.
"Around the Fur" is a classic start to finish. "Headup" is the rare kind of song that can make me scream and rage and throw fists at everyone and everything, while balling my eyes out at the same time. Brutal, but not just musically. "When you walk into this world....."
I saw these guys at UMass Amherst in 1996 playing with 311 and The Urge. When the heavy part of this song hit, I was in the middle of pure chaos... and it was awesome. Drove home 2 1/2 hours with a few bumps and bruises and still the adrenaline was flowing! 🤘 Also, since I mentioned The Urge, you should give them a listen. Lead singer has a sick sound to his voice and happens to have that dark completion (not that it matters, but just a fun fact).
Love the way you two reacted to this song. When I was a teenager in the 90s I thought this song was so heavy and I didn't get it. It was just totally different from what I was hearing . Now I totally get and love hearing it. Chino said he wrote that song when he was really angry.
I was at an Agent Orange show that was opened by Horace Pinker, and Blink 182. They threw out 7" copies of this song, and I caught one. Got home and blasted it!
The first album they hadn't found their grove yet. From Around the Fur on they were a different band. Other than white pony their best getting busy tracks are.. You've seen the butcher - kinky fucking Rosemary - sensitive fucking Minerva - post nut clarity
I always interpreted this as police corruption and how the entire system is fucking with people's head. He meantions some things about his skin color in the song. I think this is referring to systemic racism and racial profiling. I never knew what the title means and I still don't get some of the intro verse parts. This band is very cryptic with their lyrics. You can listen to them a ton of times before things click but once they click it is always a deep message.
I also remember collecting money all day at school to go see them live with a bunch of my friends. Got to the show and it was sold out some dude in line sold me his extra ticket for $2. Best show ever.
As you keep going into their newer albums, you'll find DEFTONES always hits a different note that would be expected in normal songwriting, yet somehow it sounds even better. it's always surprising. Like, they keep you guessing. The way people speak of JAZZ, but not boring.
Deftones has been around since the 90s. Their earlier songs were influenced by the times. Chino got into his own head and groove when they separated from shit. Deftones are my second favorite bands behind Tool. Keep listening. You’ll find the genius in it.
Remember this song was one of their first music videos back in the day. This whole album is fire fam. Engine number 9 is a must so is two weeks. Man the whole album. I remember when my brother J brought this album home he was like check this out. I listened to it over and over till I knew every song by heart and it was fun to cover them since they were the same style as our Band in a way but we were so young it was hard to get parents to let is perform these songs. But we did anyway at shows we did. God miss those day.
Deftones are cool. Like a 1967 Mustang GT is cool. Kinda unintentional. The more you listen the more you will love them. And I'm sure Brad will Absolutely get into them. Listen to my own summer..it's the one song that made me love them instantly... Sooooo guys when you gonna do Trivium... In waves by Trivium just for lex...🤘🤘🤘 It will be soothing..😁
For a pleasant sound I recommend Deftones - Hump and Deftones - Answer. They are very old songs and probably not with good sound quality, but they are pleasant to the ear. Also interesting to see how they have evolved from then to now. For example Answer has clear reggae influence
Their music varies a lot from album to album some are chill some are heavy and some are heavy/chill transitions kind of deal, the singer also plays in 3 other bands "Crosses"(The name is literally 3 crosses), Team Sleep and Palms.
Need to do ne oblivicaris song and plague flowers the kaleidoscope, one of the most perfectly constructed songs ever, its like musical wizardry that can cast a spell on you lol
For all my Couch Gang fam, I know y'all are requesting Digital Bath, and that's a great track, but I highly recommend you check out The Anix's cover of that song. He does an amazing job. And remember that it's all one guy!!!
7 words refers to - “You have the right to remain silent”. The song was about racial profiling and heavy handed policing in inner cities.
Those are the 7 words.
You're the second person I know who knows that. well at least I thought I was the first
@@curtisreeveslackore I met the deftones on the 1999 ozzfest tour. That’s where I learned it \m/
The whole album is based on his sister's diary
Wanted to click like but it's at 420

There's a Deftones song for everybody.
So true
I wouldn’t be mad at a weeks worth of Deftones uploads.
YASSSS!! More Deftones. Digits Bath is one you DEFINITELY need to listen to. You’ll wonder if this is the same band.
I agree said it before. Or if only tonight we could sleep.
Yes.
This is young Chino, young Deftones. The first few albums were pretty raw. White Pony is when they kind of hit a maturity. It’s a flawless album. Definitely need a little “Digital Bath” in y’all’s life. And “Passenger” featuring Maynard is a must.
There’s a reason pretty much every rock/metal band, plus others have Chino as a guest on their albums. Chino is the man!
Soulfly
This is very early Deftones, alot heavier and raw. They have evolved alot over the years but still maintained there sound. So glad to see you guys discovering Deftones.
This first album beats everything they've ever written since.
RIP Chi , never forgotten
Keep dropping Deftones!
Teething and Be Quiet and Drive (Far Away) are two of my favorite deft ones songs. Though ALL of Adrenaline is awesome.
Keep checking them out. They have so much material and it changes over time. Favorite band ever
7 words- you have the right to remain silent, believe this is about the police beating people
They have so many great songs!
You guys HAVE to listen to more of their songs. They are so talented. So many of their songs you won't even think it's the same band.
I'd like to recommend Passenger or My Own Summer(Shove It), both great songs. Also Ohms.... If I'm being honest Deftones is definitely a band worthy of a stream. Love the vids by the way!!!
This video was off a Deftones stream they did earlier. They did Change, Passenger, 7 Words, and My Own Summer.
@@MC-yi8ij dope... Appreciate the reply! I'll be on the look out for these vids
I remember being in 4th grade and starting skateboarding and listening to deftones. I got older and quit skating but still love deftones
Deftones is an amazing band...they have so many different sounds but somehow its always distinctly Deftones. They just have their own vibe and it evolves in different ways from album to album.
Goodness, you still have one of the best reactions to their first album.
Deftones songs span the whole spectrum. Try Difital Bath, Back To School or my favorite: Tempest.
Yes, I think they would dig Tempest and Rosemary a lot
I started seeing deftones play around 1994 before their first album was out. That break down would make the club go fucking ape shit. It was so fun to be like 15-16 years old at those shows.
Definitely check out Be Quiet And Drive!🤟 🔥

Also the acoustic version of this song!!
@@joshuaguerra2651 Yes. And I totally forgot the Adam Sandler/Incubus one until you said that. Thanks.
Feb 1996 - Deftones were the opening act for 311. This was my very first concert. What a time to be alive and what a time to be a teen.

💚The urge is amazing💚
Digital bath a must listen!!! Passenger, rosemary also amazing. I mean there are so many!
Covered this song and a few other Deftones tracks....it's fun
Lyrics were miles away from being accurate
thought it wa s "BIG FUCKING MONEY" among many others . I don't remember the cd booklet having lyrics either
I heard this song back in 95 and turned my Ford Escort around to the local record store and bought the EP.
he was like 16 when he wrote that song so hearing you say grown adult is funny
Love the way you two reacted to this song. When I was a teenager in the 90s I thought this song was so heavy and I didn't get it. It was just totally different from what I was hearing . Now I totally get and love hearing it. Chino said he wrote that song when he was really angry.
Deftones is one of those bands that the more you listen the more you like them. They grow on you.
Hard to believe anyone is unsure about this song, it's on of my favourites and kills anytime it's played live.
Deftones! Keep on going :)
You've Seen The Butcher- Lex will dig it.

This song still gets me moving!
Deftones- my own summer
Hed pe!! Hed pe!! Songs Suffa, Renegade, Ground, Killing Time, Here and Now, Bartender or Blackout. Thx👊 🤟
I was at an Agent Orange show that was opened by Horace Pinker, and Blink 182. They threw out 7" copies of this song, and I caught one. Got home and blasted it!
Deftones are kind of their own genre in a way. My favorites from this album are Minus Blindfold and Root. Engine no. 9 is also great.
You have the right to remain silent = 7 Words
The first album they hadn't found their grove yet. From Around the Fur on they were a different band. Other than white pony their best getting busy tracks are..
You've seen the butcher - kinky fucking
Rosemary - sensitive fucking
Minerva - post nut clarity
Yesss!!! Keep up the old Deftones! Their first two records are the best! You guys rock!
This song is from their first album, older songs I'd recommend are Nosebleed, Root, Engine No.9, Teething, Lotion, and Headup.
Please do engine #9 next it's heavy af...the whole 1st album is gr8
yeees, more deftones reactions!
Chino was 19 when this album came out. First album so yes they were young. Lyrics were different

7 words by deftones is one the hits in Heavy metal super hyper electric song
One of the greatest songs. I loved this song growing up.
Cant wait. I get to see them again in November @ Welcome to Rockville Festival!!!!!!!!!!!
This album is fucking incredible

Usually you guys like the songs. I'm glad you have an honest reaction.

You Have The Right To Remain Silent 🤘🤘🤘🤘
Gotta give hearts/wires, prayers/ triangles, phantom bride, and acid hologram a listen. Some of my favorite songs by Deftones.
This is my second favorite deftones song to Engine #9 off the same album. Love to see it in a reaction 🤘
Deftones with Maynard from tool "Passenger" is straight 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
You gotta do Deftones "Rosemary"
Deftones = My own summer
Deftones are cool.
Like a 1967 Mustang GT is cool.

To this day this is still my favourite Deftones song
the first 2 albums were considered nu metal, after that they did their own thing more and more
Another great song would be Minerva 🔥👌
“You don’t know the butcher” and “digital bath “
Deftones is the best focus music around!
For a pleasant sound I recommend Deftones - Hump and Deftones - Answer.
They are very old songs and probably not with good sound quality, but they are pleasant to the ear. Also interesting to see how they have evolved from then to now. For example Answer has clear reggae influence
Queens of the stone age - auto pilot or first it giveth 🔥
Definitely need to do digital bath and my own summer
HIGHLY recommend their song "Minerva", so great
Their music varies a lot from album to album some are chill some are heavy and some are heavy/chill transitions kind of deal, the singer also plays in 3 other bands "Crosses"(The name is literally 3 crosses), Team Sleep and Palms.
My own summer is the banger

Need to do ne oblivicaris song and plague flowers the kaleidoscope, one of the most perfectly constructed songs ever, its like musical wizardry that can cast a spell on you lol
The very song that got me into Deftones
"what if someone wanted to cover their songs" you say? 😈😈
This song is from their first album Adrenaline where they were very hard and raw. Their best album IMHO. Try Minus Blindfold.
Deftones are fucking awesome!
HED (PE) song title: Everybody Dies. Older song but WOW!!! Packs a helluva punch!
You should check out Deftones-Head Up. Pretty awesome song.
still one of the greatest songs in alternative heavy music.!!

There's so much to cover when it comes to Deftones. But a good song I think you guys would really like is Tempest off of Koi No Yokan

Battle axe or engine no 9, you'd like those too.
