I love how Soulkey's gameplay with zerg is literally how we all imagine the zerg, slowly swarming in from every direction and crushing everything with big numbers.
I love how every BW race plays true to its archetype. Terrans getting shat on and harassed by the zerg for the entire game and then suddenly stimming over the map and winning in one heroic move is so great
I said 3 seasons ago soulkey is the best player in the comments a lot. But arty was jyst babbling about light and snow. Now its easy to see as he cant be beaten.
Pretty sure Arty has actually called Soulkey the next flash and even saying he makes the game imba. Dude is about to make golden mouse look like childsplay if he wins this SSL.
I agree with you, Soulkey did an excellent job hiding the drop with the single overlord along with hyrda move. I don't think anyone would have looked at that and thought DROP coming. Thanks Artosis for the morning posts, I look forward to it every day.
Agreed, very hard to read that situation, so you can't prevent it. The other part is how you deal with it to minimize damage. That part you can always improve.
10:30 When you're talking about a decision that is 'sort of all-in but not really', you're probably looking for the word 'committal'. He's committed to having to get damage from this investment, but there's still maneuvering room, unlike an all-in.
When Dewalt used his Dark Archon to mind-control that drone and then Arbiter-recalled it back to his base to build a 200/200 Carrier/Scout fleet with a supporting 200/200 Devourer/Guardian fleet I got chills.

Soulkey is literally a step or two above everyone else. I don’t understand how he just has more larva than other Zerg players every game and always makes the perfect amount of zerglings. It’s like a somehow more refined version of peak BW Jaedong.
@@Materialist39 I see that in some of his games too. Just suddenly, a whole bunch of stuff appears. I'm convinced that he's a powerful wizard, but only chooses to use his powers in SC.
regarding the discussion at the end about the lurker drops, I think it's more about it being an APM+attention-check and being able to execute well enough to deal with them than it is about "being ready for them". Dewalt actually saw everything that was happening in real time, but just didn't deal with it well enough. He saw the lurkers burrowing in his natural so he correctly transfers the probes to his main. At this moment he also sees 2 lurkers walking toward his main so he right clicks to cancel the transfer and you can see this at 10:54 when the probes bug out on the ramp. So he knows about the lurkers in his main, but it isn't for another second or two at 10:56 ish does he issue the command to transfer his main probes, but it's too late and he loses ~20 more probes in the main before they can be transferred. He just needed to transfer the probes in his main sooner and the game would have continued normally. as a Zerg player it kind of reminds me of how you deal with DT's killing your drones in early/mid game when you have 3 or more bases. you don't get any sound or audio cue so you just need to be attentive and regularly cycle through your mining hatcheries. yes, you can have a sunk+spore at every hatch or cannons/units at each nexus, but in many situations that's not optimal if you're trying to squeeze out as much production as you can.
I think even if Dewalt kills all 4 lurkers without losing it's still not a win for him. Soulkey can easily turn around and make more bases but protoss is still effectively contained. Soulkey was probably thinking "let's see how this drop goes... oh, it killed him, gg I guess" but not hoping for that at all
Dewalt's gateway placement makes the forge safe from any hydra sniping it, and cancelling the almost complete upgrade! That's a GENIUS subtlety that no other protoss is doing against zerg that I've seen! I think he just really dropped the ball there, somehow.
This just gave me a good idea of how far away the foreigners are from coming even close to competing with the Koreans... Dewalt has a lot of work to do still.
