      nobody hates north-eastern(there is no reason), its just there is a lot of ignorance that's it, there is a bit of rumor that they are a bunch of savages... it will take time for mainland Indians to understand the north-east, as more north-eastern join the mainstream and have more influence and as more Indians get educated(the country did not have internet for 60 years), though it's changing as a lot of people have really positive impressions of north-east (nature). This discrimination is not the usual discrimination it's just they think only people who look like them can be Indians mostly because they have not traveled out, Indians have a lot of love in their heart and something just take time.
      P.S. I have heard hate crimes by Khasi people in shillong, so ignorance persists everywhere.

    Each tribe has their own unique cuisines. The traditional ones are much simpler, with no masalas. But i bet, we eat the spiciest chilly, the king chilly or raja mirch or bhoot jhalokia. Btw, momos, noodles were foreign to us until recently and they'd overshadowed the main cuisines of the region. People start assuming, tagging momos, noodles as part of us. The best time to visit the region is during the winter. Lots of music festivals, events. And yeah! You should definitely visit and experience 😊

    In the Khasi tribe of Meghalaya, the parents stay with the youngest daughter and the husband comes and stay in the wife's house as it is believed that no matter how good the daughter in law is, it's the daughter who will take care of the parents better. The youngest daughter is also the custodian of the family's property and upon the death of her parents receive the major share of the property and wealth as a token of appreciation for taking care of the parents in their old age. And why does the youngest daughter have to take care of the parents, because by the time the parents grow old, the eldest daughter would have started to grow old too. The youngest daughter would still have enough of energy to take care of the parents. The men are respected in their wife's house as the main daily bread earner and provider and protector in the wife's house and also as the uncle in his parents house who is to manage his parents property and support his sisters in deciding various clan matters. And yes dowry is non-existent in their dictionary as usually both parents work and provide for their children. A wife may be a temporary house wife only when she has recently given birth and is weaning. Life is very hard in the hills, so no other way out but for both parents to earn a living.
    Children also take the titles of their mothers and not their father's. It is one of the last surviving and practising matrilineal system which predates the patriarchy system.

About fashion i'm proud northeast, you see when we buy clothes we dont buy because the clothes look good or e.g. fabric😁 or the colors we buy according to our body features whether it suits us or we look cool on it, well we want to wear expensive clothes and thats another story for that. Its just whether its cheap or expensive we bought according to the way we anna look like, dress code makes us cooler, be proud brothers and sisters

      @shishirvaishy3491 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      " Women respect their Men" is a very generic statement, It could be true to any part of the world(consider it Individually as well). I am from north India and I have been in North-East, Women in North-East have more rights and equality compare to rest of India. As you have already seen in the video that there is a tribe which is "Matriarchal" in nature so Women have a high status in North-East is a correct statement if you compare to the rest of India.
      North-East India have a culture more similar to South-East Asia, Women have more financial freedom since they work as good as men in numbers.....North-East undoubtedly is a safer place for women in India. You must visit there, Beautiful People, Beautiful Culture & Tradition, Beauty of Nature at its peak, Beauty in diversity yet ONE, Appetizing cuisine, Simple yet Great life and certainly there are many things which I can't explain since such things are subject to experience...GO EXPERIENCE.
