No. They aren't saree. Not different styles of saree at all. 🙄 Please do not generalise. It's a wrap but the patterns are different for each tribe. Each one of it

Namaste from Nagaland, NE India! The NE women wear a traditional wraparound called as "Mekhla" and a shawl call as "chaddar". All the dresses you have watched & seen are the traditional dresses of NE tribes. And by the way it is not the same but Every tribe has a different, unique dresses with history and traditon weaved on all the shawls and wraparounds. NE has 7 states with different customs, traditions. Maybe you could visit someday to how diverse India is with so many different races.

There are more than 200 tribes in whole of Seven Sister's state, each have their own different identity, language, different food habits. My mom is from Sino-Tibetan n my father is from Tibeto-Burman ancestry.
