Duramax Build Part 11: Adapting GM Fuel Quick Connect to AN and Installing a Brand New Fuel Tank

- We are back on the Duramax swapped 1981 C20 project! In this episode I install a new fuel tank, fuel sending unit, make up nylon braided fuel lines and use some sweet adapter fittings to convert the GM quick connect style fuel lines to work with our AN style hose ends!

Hey Dan, thanks! I know it’s been a while.. been crazy busy! I am starting the body work this week which will likely make up the next few episodes so more content to come soon!
If you have any fueling issues after the truck is roadworthy I would go back to the sending unit and drill out the suction tube and solder in a larger diameter to match the GM Duramax size.
Also the filter sock on the sending unit most likely will not flow enough diesel.
@@erbthatsright1103 yeah I have the same concern and will likely have to modify it. I plan on upgrading to a lift pump/filter setup so we will see how this acts in the meantime and if I have to fast track that upgrade then so be it! Thanks for the advice!

I want to retain the stock steering column and precision fabrication plus has a super nice kit that adapts it to the Allison. It’s a little expensive but those guys make awesome stuff! Here’s a link:

What brand are the adapter fittings
They are Racetronix brand.
I would’ve done the same thing with the hose at the tank so they were the same.
No one would even be able to see it but I would know and that would’ve bugged me forever!
What fuel system is this?
The tank and pickup are stock replacements for squarebody trucks that had the 6.2 diesel. I am a little concerned that the pickup tube may be undersized for the dmax but I still need to do some testing on it.
