What I respect about Smokey, is that he's not like many of his colleagues, who are egotistical and threatened by the new generation. He's lasted this long in the business, even longer than many who came after him, because he's aware of his status, he knows he's here to stay, and he's had his heyday and he's willing to collaborate with the new generation and give them a helping hand, by performing with them. He's not trying to compete with, nor is he envious or intimidated or jealous of them, because he knows that he's paved the way for many of them to even have a career. The young artists who get the privilege of working with him, can someday tell their own kids and grandkids, "I sang with Smokey Robinson". When a legend such as himself wants to share the stage with you and sing one of his hits with you, that probably led to your own conception, it's a truly big step in your career and it brings you even more fans and respect in the business, because there is not an artist in ANY genre of music who is from age 53 on down who began their career from the 1980s to the present who has not been inspired by Smokey in some way or another.

The comments on this video are ridiculous. Jessie J is one of the best singers in the world. Smokey looked pretty happy with how she was performing his song.
