My favorite tool song. Kinda. With tool it's so hard to pick just one. The grudge, Pushit, sober, lateralus, schism, jambi, hush, the patient, parabol/parabola, ticks and leeches, aenima. The list goes on. But you get the point.
I’ve been listening since Undertow and this is definitely an overlooked one for me. I was always a Eulogy/Pushit kinda guy. Appreciating H more as well.

This song is so beautiful. I cry every time. I’ve been on an inward journey to get back to myself for a few years. Feeling more and more. Just recently I’ve felt pain that I’ve had in me since I was two or three. This unfelt pain filters the world until we are strong enough to face and feel the pain. I’m waking up to myself. Thanks for reading.
@Michael Nosredna ahh pretty good answer. But I’m not sure if time could freeze while we are on earth at some point. Or if we could find a way to not age. 🤷🏻♀️ I don’t fully know what I’m saying. I don’t have an answer to the question. Have a question for me?
At the age of 13 my grandfather died from Alzheimer's and Dementia. I didn't have my biological father and he took the place with a great passion. When he died I entered a downward spiral destroying everything in my wake . I've since reconciled and have come to an understanding of death. This song always brings back that pain. To use it a transmute it to bring forth the light
Same situation with me and my grandpa. My dad is a piece of shit so my mom’s dad, Jimmy, was always a father to me. He was 40 when I was born and I’m lucky to have had 31 years with him. @@brentchristopherson3411 Jimmy probably is about his mother but quick reminder that Maynard's mother died in the early 2000's when he was already in his 30s and this song was released in 1996.
Supposedly this song is about his mother who became paralyzed due to illness at his age of 11. God I love this song. Pain ,Trauma , regret , guilt, though not good feelings or memory's can create through those Tortuous times the most beautiful art and songs and profound lyric's that are held in awe by the viewer or listener and yet the pain that created these masterpieces finds a way to slowly destroy the creator and what we're left with is a moment that they were free from that pain, and what we feel , like when we listen to this song is a true thing of beauty.

Always get the full chills with this song. Haunting, raw, passionate utilising the best of Tool’s typical awesome grinding riffs and complex percussion work. Jimmy is a criminally underrated song in their discography.
During a live performance in the 90s he mentioned something that this is pretty much prison sex part 2 I'm paraphrasing of course but he said something along the lines and then they played the song. I definitely know it's true cuz I seen the live video on TH-cam Somewhere but then again he never really fully confirms what what songs about what when it comes down to it it's all hot hits home to you and this song fucking hits home
I've always admired Danny Carry's detail work on the hi hat and ride smh it's a beautiful thing
My favorite tool song. Kinda. With tool it's so hard to pick just one. The grudge, Pushit, sober, lateralus, schism, jambi, hush, the patient, parabol/parabola, ticks and leeches, aenima. The list goes on. But you get the point.
Girth Brooks304 opiate and eulogy are my fav
I’ve been listening since Undertow and this is definitely an overlooked one for me. I was always a Eulogy/Pushit kinda guy. Appreciating H more as well.
Like picking favorite kids
My favourite TOOL song is the song that I’m listening to at that moment, I love Jimmy and it’s probably my favourite but then I listen to Pneuma or Lateralus or Wings for Marie (1 and/or 2) and I say they’re my favourite, so I don’t know
This song connects me to my broken, abused inner child.
Hold your light,
Eleven, Lead me through each gentle step,
By step,
By inch by loaded memory,
I'll move,
To heal,
As soon as pain allows so we can,
Reunite,
And both move on together.
Literally read this comment as it came up in the song.
@oh zo what is this bro?
Me too BattleToad. Helps me to dig this shit out.
Hold your light eleven lead me through each gentle step by step by inch by loaded memory til one and one are one eleven so glow child glow im headed back home
I haven't listened to this song in years as I kinda overlooked it when I was younger. Now that I'm listening to it I have no idea why I overlooked it or why no one ever talks about it. This song and The Patient are fantastic and never get talked about.
You weren’t “ready “ for it at the time- me either ,dude: but now it all makes perfect sense 💓🙏🤯🔥👈
40 years “young”
Was 15 when this album dropped 🤯
Me too actually, I've recently been listening to this album on my ride to work and i always used to skip this song but now I'm listening and I can't believe I slept on this song for so long
Yea same here..I fucking love this song!! I play it alot ..sometimes again and again .. annoys my boyfriend but toooooo bad
3:57 - 4:43 best part, love it
I agree, that's my favorite part.
2:57 - 4:43
Bro yes
Sounds like something from Undertow
Yes
I'm kind of new to Tool so it's great to now be able to listen to every single song in hq
I'm excited for you sir
Jeremy Foot if you listen to their music long enough, you will start to relate to stinkfist.
The lead singer maynard has 2 other bands a perfect circle and puscifer a perfect circle is a lot more beautiful and melodic and less angry and intense then tool puscifer is just weird as fuck
Jeremy Foot welcome to magic
Welcome bro
I live for this album. Epic. 20 yrs listening and it never gets old.
literally never!

This has got to be the best song by them. You gotta face the past in order to heal from it.
Yes absolutely. I just posted a video of me talking about why I love this song. Since you share the same love for it I think you'd dig it
Very Jungian, right?
@@raffyshortbottom1537 right
I agree with this
I listened to the Aenima album genuinely too many times to count when I was a teenager, and I just today discovered this song. Apparently the digital version of the album that my brother gave me was missing this song
@Michael Nosredna what?
@Michael Nosredna lol ok… ummm…
Do you know anything in life to be 100% true?
@Michael Nosredna ahh pretty good answer. But I’m not sure if time could freeze while we are on earth at some point. Or if we could find a way to not age. 🤷🏻♀️
I don’t fully know what I’m saying.
I don’t have an answer to the question.
Have a question for me?
I am 108 years old. I used to work in a hospital restaurant plastic fabrication shop. Everyone gets this where he album from me.
Today this is my favorite Tool song.
I just keep listening over and over.
So soothing.
Since listening to the new album, THIS song keeps going through my head. Oh, sweet nostalgia...
:,)
At the age of 13 my grandfather died from Alzheimer's and Dementia. I didn't have my biological father and he took the place with a great passion. When he died I entered a downward spiral destroying everything in my wake . I've since reconciled and have come to an understanding of death. This song always brings back that pain. To use it a transmute it to bring forth the light
Same situation with me and my grandpa. My dad is a piece of shit so my mom’s dad, Jimmy, was always a father to me. He was 40 when I was born and I’m lucky to have had 31 years with him. He died 2 months ago after covid filled his lungs and his heart exploded. I hope one day I can find a little peace and I hope you do too.
My little brother passed right before Thanksgiving in 2020. I posted this song with some of the lyrics after I found out because he loved this song and it reminds me of him. I hope to find him again. I hope you find peace.
"Hold your light...I'll move to heal, as soon as pain allows, so we can reunite and both move on together."
@@joryorth2631 *hugs* may you find peace.
@@maryk8509 that's my favorite part of the song also . I often sing it with tear filled eyes and imagine my ancestors around me shining brightly. A time will come soon where we shall meet our loved ones and be reunited for eternity 🙏❤️
@@DMTmates absolutely, friend. I believe that. Love your name, btw! Amazing.
We need another album like this, and Undertow.
Yeap. I think it will be like 10000 Days - Lateralus duo. Lateralus was spiritual and 10000 was more heavier and real. Now Fear Inoculum is spiritual and next album will be more catchy. At least i'm waiting like that :D.
Exactly but it will never happen. This is a million times darker than anything they've put out since.
They were younger then as well, with lots of raw emotion. These guys are pushing 60 soon, so the fact that they put out a new album at all is surprising.
They'll never give us a album like those again. Progressive Music means to keep moving forward in your creativity.
@@asadadon Dumbass the last 3 albums sound similar. Be a Tool fan, not a tool.
That series of riffs at 4:23 when the low note gets lower is just ear candy to me
If there was an anthem to a spiritual awakening, this would be the song. Love it.
Such a work of art, that built up scream gives me goosebumps every time
1 and 1 are 1

Funny I read your comment as this was playing 🤘🏻
It’s about him, Maynard, (jimmy) reunited with his mother who died when he was young. Jimmy+mother = one
@@brentchristopherson3411 Jimmy probably is about his mother but quick reminder that Maynard's mother died in the early 2000's when he was already in his 30s and this song was released in 1996.
Quick mafs
@@hazelpepper163 yeah, and she was left paralyzed after that until she finally died in the early 2000's.
No one will ever come even close to being on Tool’s level. This song is a damn drug.
Supposedly this song is about his mother who became paralyzed due to illness at his age of 11. She was strongly religious and he questioned why a god she followed and believed in would do this to her. There are other songs linked to this song. I think there are three tool songs and a perfect circle song that explain the story... I might be wrong
Yea it’s called Judith by A Perfect Circle
Judith
Jambi
Wings for Marie and
10,000 days are all about her.
@@adammorvant I think jambi is about Maynards son
@@verstarkt2192 I always assumed the last line in Jambi was what points to linking the 3 songs together. Silence legion save your poison silence legion stay out of my way. Basically saying I dont wanna here shit about what Im about to sing. Lol
2:10 I can't even comprehend what drove them to add this total break in the song. It is one of the most beautiful and unique moments in the music I love.
So glow, child, glow. Always gets me; Words to live by!
The most underrated Tool song.
The intro takes over and always makes me eyes close...then that first vocal comes in and flows off at the end. Way up there in my top 5 best tool songs.
Song: "Under a dead Ohio sky"
Me an Ohioan: 10/10 relatability
It's so fuckin true. I lived in Ohio for quite a few years, and it really is just a dead, lifeless sky.
Lmao
Amazing how such genius could come out of such mediocrity.
@@DAatDA It's all a joke really. The weather is horrible but Ohio as a whole is pretty great. If you know how to make the best of things you realize Ohio has everything you need to live.
We have a track record of producing geniuses too
Neil Armstrong, John Glenn, Jim Lovell, Judith Resnick, 21 more astronauts lol, Steven Spielberg, R.L. Stine, etc, etc
@@Mega-P71 Marilyn Manson, Dave Grohl, Drew Carey, Clancy Brown, Doris Day, Dean Martin, Paul Newman, Ray Wise... lots of talented people come from Ohio, but they rarely stay! Then again, some people aren't from Ohio, but they settle here. Dave Chappelle's the obvious one. He lives down the road from me.
3:57 onward is just something else man
I actually listened to this entire song today. I have to say, this part has to be one of my favorite parts in a song.
My sister Tiffany loved Tool .This was actually her favorite song .She had a fiance named Josh and he died on 4/11 from a mishap in jail .We were devastated .She was so sweet and she would never hurt a soul she was just so nice to perfect strangers she was the light in my fucking life...Her boyfriend after Josh was a guy named Harry .They were together for years and we hated the way he treated her .Manipulative and abusive but he always covered up his ways the best he could . This 4/11 Harry tells us she was gone when he woke up .She used to walk the streets alot to get away from him but she always came back and we waited 6 weeks for her to come home just to find out in the end that he buried her body that same day
"Sleeping, lost, and numb
So glad that I have found you
I am wide awake and heading home"
........He played his act on everyone until the guy that helped him confessed .11 and she was gone 😔 You are the voice that's been calling me back home.........I will forever wait for you Tiffany I love you so fucking much you deserve peace and I'm so sorry for all of the men in your life that has hurt you my sorrowful angel please show me that you are healed in some way or form. Thought I would tell you guys her story .I feel like this song was made for her .
This Harry, had killed her and buried her?
@@jonathanmoffett8350 Well they didn't charge him for murder only concealing her death ,his story is she overdosed and he woke up and found her
@@fall3nang3l.x76 Alright, either way, my condolences. I've heard that Maynard writes his lyrics the way they are so that the receiver can interpret them on their on in their own contexts and scenarios, looking into themselves. I'm glad you found your connection with the song.
Blame yourself. Nevermind you allready have.
Why didnt you prevent her from dating that guy when you had realized how as you say abusive and manipuoative he was?
I don't know why the part that transmits to me the most pain is 0:42, the way Maynard James Keenan says "leaving you with the death and hopeless" just gets to me.
One of my favorite Tool songs, along with every other Tool song!!!!
This song is such a hidden little jem-I could listen to that riff for days! Tool is what keeps me going through this maddening pandemic-Stay safe world!

Jimmy won't you please come home
The grass is green and the buffaloes roam
Come see Jimmy, your uncle Jim
And your auntie Jimand your cousin Jim
Come home Jimmy because you need a bath
And your grandpa Jimmy is still gone daft
Now there's buffalo Jim and buffalo Jim
There's Jim buffalo now didn't you know
Jim Jimmy Jimmy it's your last cigarette
And there's buffalo piss and it's all kind of wet
Jambo Jimmy you'd better hold your nose
Roads lead to roam with the buffaloes
And the Buffaloes used to say "Be proud of your name"
The Buffaloes used to say "Be what you are"
The Buffaloes used to say "Roam where you roam"
The Buffaloes used to say "Do what you do"
Hey, you've gotta have a wash but you can't clean your name
You're now called Jimmy, you'll be Jimmy just the same
The keys are in the bag, in a chest by the door
And one of Jimmy's friends has taken the floor
Jimmy won't you please come home
Where the grass is green and the buffaloes roam
Dear old Jimmy you've forgot you're young
But you can't ignore the buffalo song
And the Buffaloes used to say "Be proud of your name"

And yet somehow TOOL have done so...multiple times. Perfection perfected yet again.

What a great album man this band rocks!
ÆNIMA was the was album
Jimmy probably has what are my favorite Adam Jones riffs in it at the moment - they're just absolutely aggressive, haunting, and so disgustingly beautiful all at once. and Justin's bass? oml...

Tool is a way of life.
Favorite song on this album.
Danny's clever use of cymbals in this song just really adds to the creepiness of the song.
Rather than guitar or bass, Tool uses the drums to move the song forward.
The insane build up gets me everytime....and it's been decades
God I love this song. Pain ,Trauma , regret , guilt, though not good feelings or memory's can create through those Tortuous times the most beautiful art and songs and profound lyric's that are held in awe by the viewer or listener and yet the pain that created these masterpieces finds a way to slowly destroy the creator and what we're left with is a moment that they were free from that pain, and what we feel , like when we listen to this song is a true thing of beauty.
I regret not becoming a fan of these guys earlier its unbelievable how much talent the 4 of them have some of the best ive heard
