I am 46, fighting brain cancer, woke up sick today after completing round 4 of chemotherapy. This is the song I went to. It's blaring in my ears right now. What a perfect song.

No joke, diagnosed in Oct '21. Had it removed, doing a year of meds. I graduated high school in '95 and Tool has never left me. Every album a gem. When music causes your endorphins to flow, your adrenaline to rush, and goosebumps all over your body, it's a natural pain reliever and mood booster. Next time you're sick or feel like shit all over, listen to the song that lifts you from your chair all by itself...LOUD 👍

I'll put some prayers in for you. I'm a stage IV cancer survivor myself....6 months of chemo and 6 surgeries...that was over 12 years ago and I'm still here at the age of 57. If it helps, I chose not to put forth anger against the cancer but projected love onto it through constant creative visualization and meditation. While doing so, I told it that it did not belong in my body and instructed it to politely leave. I have found that when one fights against something, it tends to resist and fights back. By projecting love onto the cancer, it listened and went away.

@@SirRorschachJack The whole Arizona Bay thing is a Bill Hicks routine; it is also the name of one of his albums. They are borrowing the concept from him. Maynard was a huge fan of his. In fact, there is a clip of Bill Hicks on the album and his image appears in the CD booklet.
The older I get the more I appreciate this band.
It takes a rare soul to appreciate it in the childhood, but he did some incredible things that the music evolves with you. The only other media I've seen do that is the bible. I'm not saying Maynard is Jesus, but you can certainly get to some holy places sitting back and listening. He's certainly both the solution and problem to the band, I love it all.
Same here! I didn’t really like them at all when they were big in the 90’s-00’s, but now I can appreciate them a lot more. I’ve found that I’m liking a lot of different stuff now than when it was new, I was a lot younger, and certainly more musically narrow/close minded to boot.
Weird how that works, right? End up appreciating a lot more artsy stuff over time, that kinda thing.

I told her about the song and we listened to it together.
She told me that when she was young, people would share commentary through essays published. And people would read them and then write an essay of response.

I don’t think I’ve heard a more perfect song written in my life. There’s so many layers to this song and the structure is amazing. It’s a proper song in every sense.
