Beyond light is still the mean topic but light fall with it poster and that fact that it's the last dlc raising more questions then beyond light. The Witch queen is the middle ground we know more about it then beyond light and light fall
JUST MY THEORY Something tells me that light fall may be the final dlc for D2. I think that the game will be left on somewhat of a cliffhanger and that’s how D3 will begin
I never thought Lightfall would be the end. I think Lightfall is the "Shadowkeep" of the upcoming trilogy. However, to put it into some better context, the "Revenge of the Sith" of the upcoming trilogy. Where the heroes lose, but not all hope is lost. I am expecting the end of the Traveler. It is wounded still, even though healing over the past few years. However, it'd also make things more interesting. A chance for us to grow beyond. We've looked at that orb for years and expected it to save us every time. It's time we get the chance to shine. To prove that if we can't save the Traveler, we can push back. Don't know what'll happen to the Light, but I'm expecting to keep it regardless. I'm not expecting the Darkness to be defeated in Lightfall, to even scratch it more than a strike would do it a disservice. However, if we do leave the system (which I do think will happen), it'll only be for brief incursions. The Cabal homeworld, perhaps Fundament even. However, we can still have a social space here, maybe in the Kuiper or Asteroid Belts. Assuming the Darkness doesn't break the Awoken or Efrideet, we can still have a place to hide, regroup, and return. Besides, we need allies. We literally can't defeat the Pyramid Armada ourselves. Cabal have manpower, Fallen and Awoken have tech skills. Ultimately Guardians are the most vital aspect, but even we need help. But seriously, what happens if the Traveler dies?
I’d love to see something like WoW where there’s a faction system, in this case light vs dark guardians and it is based on in game which side will win and as a result continue destiny’s story.
I was thinking very similarly. The Traveller will keep losing and losing until it hits rock bottom and then we'll probably get a redemption Arc in which the Traveller will start actually do something to fight back to its original glory or even further beyond that.
If the Traveler dies, I'm thinking we'll see Sol, or at least Earth as lost, and be forced to abandon the system at least temporarily. Like you said, maybe we'd be able to return(likely, given the nature of the content vault) and perhaps retake Earth, or at least stage a foothold in Sol. Perhaps our main social space would be within the hull of a human battlecruiser, with refugees and members of some of the other races.(cabal and fallen most likely) We'd be able to carry out scouting missions and strikes into the lost worlds in Sol.
I think the Exo Stranger's future is the one with the remains of humanity fleeing from the darkness on those ships, but in the next DLC's she's going to help us make sure that future doesn't happen.
James Scheuermann you should write a Vex simulation of that xD Just go full narrative, but without the gamified elements xD Also, space out the text a bit; every few sentences or so, have a line of space between one sentence and the next; it makes it easier on the reader’s eyes xD
The Traveler will die. That's the point of having the seed of silver wings, and the tree in the cradle of io. It's not supposed to be a "Dark Traveler" it's supposed to be a new Traveler, a much stronger one. We will gain the power of the darkness and we will overstep the lights boundaries, but this new Traveler will be that line we will cross, it will be that boundary. Hence the sphere of the Traveler gone, and the obsidian monolith at least twice its size dominating the sky. Monolith also comes from the two Greek words "monos" meaning single and lithos, meaning "stone". Look back again at the current "Lightfall" DLC cover art. Then next time you enter the cradle, look at the tree of silver wings and how the circle in the cover art and the tree have a similar style in terms of how they look, only one has a tetrahedron[Pyramid Ship] in front of it.. The seed is only giving us the power, like a ghost does reviving it's guardian for the first time, only we are already living, hence why we have our stasis abilities in BL. There IS more to come. And as guardians, we WILL approach it.
Also perhaps that is why the traveler left the fallen. There was no good place in their solar system to plant a tree of light which is why it “abandoned” the fallen.
I agree that the tree is meant to be used to plant a new Traveler somehow. As for a rumored “new age”? By The Final Shape, we may have to balance light and dark to defy the final shape and bring about an era of balance in which Guardians wield darkness and light to protect humanity and the universe. An era where we aren’t slaves taken by the Darkness, or protectors blinded and ignorant by the Light, but rather new Guardians that walk the line between.
@@rainsnakergaming1696 it experienced the godwave, probably wiping out most life on the liquid surface, but the planet itself would still exist. The Leviathan seemed confident life would live on though.
But then they hater will came and cry „eeeeh bungie took my content but i gave money for“. I am totally on you side... it would be insanely awesome... but you know the pussy haters
I always took “Lightfall” to be a play on words for ‘Nightfall.’ So I pictured Lightfall to mean that after a period of darkness, which I assume happens after Witchqueen, the light falls on the darkness.
I like that take. Not only does it make sense thematically, but it holds to the hope of light overcoming the darkness, which it always eventually does.
This season has shown that the line is not so sharp and defined as we've believed up until now. We believed the Hive were inherently sided with the darkness, and that they were creatures of darkness, but the interference missions show that the goals of the Darkness and the Hive, or at least Savathun, differ. The intro mission on Io shows Savathun pulling us from the pull of the Darkness.
@Jacob Chapman That was never a thing. The traveler was never bad. It just never really told us about the darkness. The traveler the kept secrets, it’s not bad. The original destiny story was focused around rasputin and the hive, not quite the traveler and darkness.
I like the theory that the city will be destroyed and we will be forced too live amongst the stars on huge ships tbh Only thing that’s for certain about Lightfall......I’m terrified too see how the story unfolds 15:09 Lady Effrediet???
Child Of God first off Take it???? That would involve one of 2 things Either A: Killing Calus Or B: convincing him to help Humanity and whatnot and as far as we know he is pretty set in his ways about letting the Darkness win But either way there’s a whole year between Beyond Light and Witch Queen and then another on top of that, a lot can happen Season wise between then and now Also as far as Calus is concerned the reason for him leaving Sol is too go fight his Daughter so maybe either he will come back one season and ask for our help defeating her and then will join us or he will join us after defeating her on his own OR Just not come back at all
@@DragonKnight90001 Yeah-- it's not like exploring the Leviathan is actually deadly :P gotta be embarrassing for the Loyalists when Guardians come to casually grind for kills and XP. We could totally just use the Tribute Hall. It'd be cramped, but we could store at least a couple hundred people in there.
Lightfall has 3 scenarios it can take to me 1. We lose and retreat. Sol is lost. We either flee the system, or run to hide on the outer rim of the system. We make a base of operations somewhere in the kuiper belt and plan how to fight back. Likely the traveler will be destroyed. 2. Vanguard vs. Drifter allegiance on steroids. Light vs Dark. Pick a side, and the side you choose will permanently stay with that character, going as far as making Guardians that chose the other side enemies in the open world, and giving the two parties unique social spaces and storylines. 3. We get a situation similar to WoW's "Cataclysm" expansion, where the darkness will come and leave one hell of a mark, with various areas being permanently altered as a sign that they were there.
I’d love to be able to encounter a guardian of the light, maybe with proximity chat and have a convo kinda in character, preparing to activate my behemoth while the warlock readies their sacred blade for combat on the remains of the Last City, and the Final Disaster of Humanity
I think lightfall will be the the biggest plot twist in destiny history, we’ll find out the traveller is evil and was using the guardians to defend it while it gains enough strength to leave us. We will have no choice but to side with the pyramids as the traveler is reading to leave us. We’ll side with the fallen and most likely cabal.
You forgot one thing. The exo stranger... The trailer for beyond light said she came from a world where the darkness won. It was said she travelled back in time and helped stop many realities where the creatures of the dark won. With her implied ability to time travel, she may be our BIGGEST and most important chance we have to stand against the darkness.
I'd love the last scene of Destiny 2's arc to be you holding the line with the Vanguard, defending an evacuation as the last city and the solar system falls. You see yourself and fireteam fighting back waves of Nightmares made real, every major enemy you've downed before returned twisted in nightmare form. The final moments as the last ship takes off into black as the stars go out, you ignite your light and charge. You fire off super after super, doing everything possible to secure that escape route. Finally something titanic raises it's claws and crushes you. The credits roll. Cut to 100 years in the future, a rag tag fleet makes it's way across space, we find that Humanity has been fleeing, trying to find some kind of hope, there are no more guardians, no more hope and very little light. Earth itself becoming a myth. Down in the holds of one of the ships we see a figure, downtrodden, outcast and alone. Sat muttering about how they felt something, pulling them somewhere. The scene pans out slightly to see that they sit in a cell and as footsteps come closer a tiny spark plays across their hands. It isn't energy. It's light
Yo, fuck that. You take my Guardian away and I'm done with the series. I've been playing as the same Hunter (never deleted) since launch day of D1. Idc if our gear transfers, but my character damn well better. This series is about building your legend. Taking that away would be a massive dick-move.
What I personally think is our '' funeral'' that happened in the corridors of time is simply us getting teleported away similar to what happened to superman in that justice league animation. We then fight through another system or dimension to get back home and when we return we begin to rebuild and prepare for the final fight against darkness
"Where I come from, The Darkness won. I have witnessed this first hand, I refuse to let it happen again." - Exo stranger 2020 No, I dont think it will be the end of Destiny, she'll probably do something at the end to stop it or save the Traveler Or maybe the Traveler travels again to somewhere else but then comese back to save us cuz we are the choosen ones???
You know what I'll be doing when the Darkness starts playing football with the traveler. _Hiding in a crashed Fallen ship after drinking 15 liters of Vex Milk before cosplaying as a Cabal_
We haven’t even seen how Beyond Light will play out. Or even the highly foreboding Witch-Queen dlc will trick us. But there is 1 character that guides me to Lightfall. Mara Sov. She has a master plan. Lore book- *Awoken of the Reef:* _The plan exists in her mind alone, although beloved Eris has by necessity learned most of it. The Techeuns do not know the whole plan, although they will position the Harbingers upon the threshold. Even sweet capable Petra does not know the whole plan._ _She has been thinking of a logic of her own, of secrets and hidden designs. When a pawn reaches the far side of the chessboard, it may be promoted to a queen. And what hatches when you promote a queen? What new board does she claim her place on?_ _Mara knows._
Congratulations Datto! "The Traveler is good, the Traveler is sentient, the Traveler will save us, and the Traveler will leave us." Perhaps we will become as the fallen are, our battle-scarred ships forever chasing after the Traveler, hoping to once again bask in its light. 3 houses, hopefully united by the vanguard, although I personally have my doubts that Zavala is going to stay with us for much longer.
Doubt it, that orb seemingly didn't leave when it could. There is a reason why it decided to stay and (apparently) for the first time create 'Guardians' (or lightbearers). Not to mention Guardians aren't as obssesed with the Traveler as the fallen, sure, it has grant us badass powers and brought us back to life, but just look at how many people are hopping into the darkness powers wagon, and, most of all, why we are named 'Guardians', we are not the protectors of the Traveler, we are the protectors of Humanity, with or without a big white ball in the sky.
All I know is that we are learning about the entity very, very soon. I mean think about it! New raid inside a pyramid? Lightfall coming up? We will most likely be hearing quite a lot of whispers from the darkness after season 16. Or we dont idk
Small theory: The shard of the traveller we saved in Destiny 1 could come into play. The Exodus evacuation could succeed and that same shard could he brough along. It could still contain Light. Humanity, Awoken, Exo, Fallen and Vex band together to escape. They reach a new solar system. The Vex are crippled and dwindling, their time-tears are sealed and the remaining Vex minds have been forced to become allies with the City. The Fallen have finally made peace that the Traveller didn't choose them, and the last Kells, Archons and Barons gather their houses and rally to the City banner as one army. The Exos and Vex have some things in common, aiding in the new kinship. To escape Sol, each and every person and construct must hold off the Darkness until the last shuttle can get away...
The only house that will help us is The House of Light. The rest are just doing their own things with The Devils being the most annoying one. I would fucking scream in happiness if Mithrax died and get to become a guardian. Dude deserves it
The vex are somewhat perplexing to me (kinda why they’re my favorite race with Hive just in 2nd place). But I’m not sure they feel anything. And they could end up being some of the most powerful beings if bungie lets them, because they can use time unlike any other living thing besides maybe Elizabeth Bray. In the end they’re just an interconnected liquid that can travel through space and time that could probably do anything they wanted. I mean if things get hairy, they could just construct another home on any planet like mercury and completely terraform in some wild mechanical way
Not really related but I think beyond light is gonna be a bit of a starting story, I expect it to be something like discovering what's going on rather than it being something big and climax orientated. Idk if you know what I mean, it's gonna be the events leading up to lightfall, I just had to clear this up for myself because I just realised not to expect much of an ending from this upcoming dlc
I really hope the darkness isnt actually evil. I hope we’ll be given more of a gray area to decide whether we want to side with the dark or the light. After all, the Traveler is “awake” again yet sits there and does nothing. The Darkness at least talks to us
If you’ve read the lore you’d know neither the darkness nor the light are good or evil. The concept of good and evil are human terms, the light and the darkness are fundamental forces of existence that exist beyond any universe.
According to unveiling the Darkness has good intentions and evil actions/methods and the Traveler only cares about winning its competition with the darkness but it has actions/methods that come off as benevolent.
thedarklordx Well considering that unveiling is from the point of view of the darkness of course it’s going to spin it that way. That’s something important to keep in mind, because it’s from the darkness itself it’s incredibly biased toward itself.
@@115zombies935 If the Darkness was being biased towards itself it would just say that everything it does is good, but the Unveiling explains that neither of them are completely good and that the Traveler is selfish in trying to win the Game and the Darkness has a lot of pride.
In regards to what Osiris saw in the infinite forest. You'll remember in the Curse of Osiris where he saw something very similar ( the fall of Sol and the death of the sun due to Panoptys.) A future he thought was essentially absolute because he says "our best efforts merely slow it" but yet we emerged victorious.
I'm thinking here that we might have 3 more dlcs. The first one would be called, the resistance in which basically the Guardians form a resistance against the darkness. Then we will have, regrouping in which we get help from other forces, Guardians thought to be lost, lady efrideet(if she is alive) and lord salladin. The last one is, revenge of the light. In which well I dont have to tell you do I?
I think that the Vault of Glass connection is interesting, especially considering the fact that they are bringing it out of the content vault in beyond light... Perhaps they are giving us that hint as to where the story is going? Keep up the good work Byf, love your stuff!
Falling isn't bad, Lightfall can mean that the light (traveller) falls from the sky after a battle with the darkness maybe revealing something new? A celestial entity? We saw how ghaul was able to manifest himself as a giant being of light so who's to say that the traveler can't do the same. Lightfall could be the turning point in destiny where we start a new journey to find the darkness at its heart and hunt it instead, leaving our system with a new form of the traveler, maybe taking control of the darkness ships.
If Darkness can help our cause, then Light can harm it. If Savathun can interfere with the pyramids, if the hive on the moon can use rituals to suppress the light of the traveler, and if Gaul can almost capture the Traveler, then the Traveler might yet be, at least in part, turned against us. As in the Red War, the Light may fall, but perhaps this time we can bring it back.
I've basically become emotionally connected to Destiny. The title of Lightfall definitely gets my Destiny senses going haywire. It's going to be a rough couple years, waiting to see how the story is Destiny unfolds.
You cant have light without dark and you cant have dark without light. They are both intertwined with one another. Remember the darkness dosent want to hurt us, it wants to “save” us. In the lore book I read that Eris morn ends up siding with the darkness. The lore books point of view is based off of the strangers view because she is from a different timeline. She ends up saying that the traveler shines quickly while the darkness os closing in and then she wakes up in the tower and sees cayde. Meaning that she went back in time. But the stranger also says that she has seen every outcome of failure but none intrigued her as much as watching OUR timeline (your guardian). I think the traveler will definitely be hindered in some way but I believe we will end up doing something to drive the darkness away
Using new info from Witch Queen I think we either: 1) We journey find another Traveler outside the Sol System (Savathûn insinuates there are other Travelers, as well as that our destiny may lie outside of Sol) - but until then it's a redo of The Red War until then - the rules are different if light is dependent on the Traveler alone ->this fits with the fleet lore at the end of the video, though with the loss of the factions and their fleets things might shift. 2) Our Light becomes internalized like the Darkness did at the end of Beyond Light, but it will be a journey. Essentially we learn that the Light and Dark are just forces and people can embody either or without the aid of their "Highest Gods" (The Pyramids or The Traveler). -> This is more of an alternate take to the above theory. It would make sense - we know there are species with non ghost dependent paracausal forces - The Ahamkara, Worms, or the Techeuns to name a few. -> This brings up the question of Exo and Awoken as well - as all Exo have darkness within and Awoken have been said to have both. 3) Our new alliance comes together and builds us up without the Traveler: The Light from the Hive, the Exodus from the Fallen (The fleet lore near the end really evokes the Fallen - traveler gone, a fleet of ships wandering in search of a home), and tech and war power from the Cabal. -> This seems to be the direction of D2 now - and it also fits with the VoG lore - especially with the mention of unknown symbols as part of the fleet. If this were all to fit into one DLC I expect it to be a long campaign with a full on preseason sunset to free up space for new locations - Or at that point Lightfall may just be a sort of "Bridge" to destiny 3 - which will have all new locations.
I agree with many of these points. I feel the Bombardment from Elsie’s timeline will come to pass, however this time, we’ll be ready. We’ll have a contingency plan in place to evacuate Sol and find a temporary new home to obtain greater power to destroy the Witness and its fleet of Pyramids. Foresight from Mara and Elizabeth will give us a chance to prepare for the oncoming onslaught of the City, in which we won’t lose as badly as all the other times, the Vanguard and our Allie’s may survive and regroup to join our fleet of allies to find a new home. We may lose a battle worse than the Red War, but sometimes you must lose a battle to win the war.
All I can imagine is the traveller leading the remnants of sol to a new system and while conversing to a new race saying something like we weren’t strong enough the only one of us that was stayed behind to fight back and then shows a glimmer of our guardian battling alone while the system flees. Only for our guardian to then reappear at the bleakest moment. It sounds awesome thinking about it
All I know is that lightfall means that there is something within Destiny’s universe that’s more powerful than any singular member of the osmium dynasty. I foresee the hidden swarm attempting to resurrect oryx and xivu joining her sister during witch queen. The power of the sword logic has already served to directly benefit our guardian before, it allowed us to kill oryx by first slaying crota. Killing the members of the osmium dynasty would give us enough strength to face whatever cataclysmic threat presents itself in lightfall. Regardless of however powerful our guardian becomes, lightfall will prove to be decisive in the fate of the people of earth.
I hope the Darkness becomes a permanent presence in the game, like the traveller, it's just there. I then hope that they release destiny 3 witch will be the final iteration of the franchise, and an ongoing service, like many other MMO's. This would move them away from Activisions money-grab DLC scheme. Then, this ongoing service version of the game would have you choose Light or Dark at the start of the game, just like The MMO, Star Wars The Old Republic. You either play as a light or dark guardian, with 2 different social hubs on 2 different planets. Similar story lines on the same, or similar planets. And different voice lines from different faction specific characters. Specific abilities and weapons locked to each faction/side which would encourage players to play both sides, increasing playability and longevity. And when this all comes to fruition, remember the Prophet who told you this. Watch This Space
Quick question, if they don’t do dlc, what would give them money they need to make new content for the game? I don’t like ever verse at all, but I also don’t know what else they would use for funding to make new content. Not trying to sound like a dick, just curious as to what you would have them use for monkey making? Is it a subscription to play? Is it like the old wow were you had to pay for a sub but that was it? I would be fine with that model, but knowing how every other mmo has a cash shop even if you have to pay a sub I don’t think that will ever happen.
Based on Beyond Light and the lore in it, I do say Lightfall falls square in the timeline where "The Bombardment" of the Last City would take place in the previous loops of the timeline. There the Last City was encroached and destroyed by a Joint force of Eramis' Fallen, The Reformed Red Legion (Under Calus' Daughter), and Savathun's Hive all aided by the Darkness Ships. The Traveler Leaves, with humanity ending up worshipping a Pyramid Ship in the place of the Traveler. However, we have diverted this future a bit as we have killed Eramis and her Closest allies, thus allowing House Light to gain larger numbers in our Timeline. And considering next Expansion is going to deal with Savathun, we may only have The New Red Legion and the Darkness Ships to deal with when that day comes (Unless if Eramis does indeed return to life and Savathun escapes death by our hands.) So Lightfall may be the "Last Stand" for a better future. Beyond Light was a warning, and a first attempt at diverting the track towards that Future Elsie has lived so many times. Lightfall is our last chance to stop that future from coming to fruition
Really minor point but Mystery: The Vault of Glass 3 was not found within the VoG raid, it was instead found in the heroic version of the VoG mission that had you fight Taken that was part of TTK
the first thing that came into my mind when u were reading the lore card about the drifting ghost, is that a possible first mission for LF, were rushed into the game, darkness coming with no mercy, we need to prepare our ships, *(warp drives and what not) ourselves, and whatever, its a timed mission, and if you dont do anything intime, the darkness destroys you and you have to redo the mission over and over, until you get it. Once you do it, you warp to the new system, having visions and a bunch of other things, but where you warped to was right into the darkness trap, your warp drive is dead and needs to recharge, you have to fight off the darkness until it recharges in a space fight group mission like the first one in shadowkeep. until your drive finally recharges and you warp to safety, ship battered and somehow still working. thank you for coming to my ted talk
I read a post on reddit by a guy/girl who had a theory that the traveller using the last bits of its power sends us back before the collapse because at the hight of our civilisations power scientists discovered a means in how to destroy the darkness by turning it into light and merging it with the traveller (The final shape) and our job is to bring that device back from the golden age to the present day.
I swear bungie struggles here and there but one thing they excel at, and I mean probably the one of the best, is keeping its audience at the end of their seat with all of the dramatic lore. I stopped playing d2 bc I no longer have the friends nor time to play it but I will stick around for the lore since it’s so captivating. Almost how it’s so easily to be tricked by the darkness to join it
When I saw the Roadmap from now till 2022, Lightfall was the first thing that caught my eye. Even just thinking about the fall of Light makes my stomach do backflips. More than anything, it makes me worry about the people of the Last City. It makes me worry about the Guardians and other unique individuals I've come to call my comrades. To be honest I'm still blown away by what Destiny 2 has done story wise and I can't wait for more in November. Only a little more than a month now, so say it with me. Eyes up, Guardians.
Imagine if we actually were forced to leave the system. The lore states that we once colonized other systems beyond Sol so it’s not impossible that we could be faced with a journey out into a system long forgotten. Places truly unknown, terraformed by the Traveler but having been without the light for centuries. Additionally, we know that the traveler is capable of space flight so perhaps (if the Traveler does leave the system) the new social destination will not be the tower but rather a giant ship or fleet of ships that follows it.
@Ronin Esquivel Activision worked for halo thats why its perfect and than d1 is way better than d2 ,d1 is an aweaome Game ,d2 wound be Perfect in an movie yes but as a game eeehhhh
I really doubt there will be a destiny 3, at least for a while. Bungie have been funded for a new IP so I'd imagine they'd give that a go. Hope we do see a D3 in the future though.
If any of you watched Bungies stream just before Beyond Light where they explained a lot of stuff to do with the game, you’d know that they have no intention on making a third game, as they don’t want to throw away all of the work they did on D2. They didn’t even want to make a second destiny game, but Activision pretty much forced their hand.
@@vaudeville-villain No game dev studio has ever thrown away anything for use in a sequel or Third Game in the same franchise unless they are using a completely new engine. Even then you could prob port a ton of stuff over into the new one. That’s the dumbest explanation I’ve ever heard lmao
Damn everytime my enthusiasm for these games start to fade you always manage to bring it back. These videos remind me of just how deep and complex the universe of destiny really is. Thanks for all your time and effort making these, and for bringing me back into the fold.
If killing the Undying Mind forced the Vex to recalculate all possible future projections, wouldn't that mean that the "Mystery: Vault of Glass 3" lore would be an outdated future simulation?
I just want to remind everyone that our light isn't directly tied to the traveller. It is tied to the corrupted remains of the light in the EDZ. Thus, how we were able to use it in red war while everyone else couldn't. If the traveller is game ended, I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we lost the light or not. I just think it would be interesting to see bungie remember about a detail most have us have forgotten about or overlooked in 3 years.
Oh shit I totally forgot about that. So u think our guardian will be the only one with light? That’d be pretty interesting, even if it’d kinda be repetitive
So im thinking this: Lightfall = Traveler dying, along with the City falling. full stop, it's gone. BUT we will still have our Light. Why? because we don't get our light from the Traveler anymore. This entire time we've been using the Shard in the EDZ for Light. Maybe the Farm could even become the main social space? Just thoughts.
I can only imagine whats going on with the development for Lightfall. 2 years out, probably writing the script, getting some assets and weapon concepts in a group of like 10 people. Must be exciting!
If they were to follow the 10 year plan there would be one more expansion after light fall. I think we are also past the point of seeing the traveller as good and the darkness as evil. They are forces of nature that we only have a small understanding of so it is hard to say what will happen in lightfall
If the future of Destiny would be a fleet of ships searching for welders of the light, that would be cool. And Calus knows all about the races with his shadows. To go to the Elikani homeworld to make peace and build an army and then go to the next. Damn, would love that for D3.
Probably will see a cutscene of guardian using bastion against the darkness since in season of dawn we found out we died defending the last city with bastion
Ghaul already proved that without the traveler, there is no light for the ghosts, which means no Guardians. If Sol is lost, so are we. We'd be utterly powerless to fight back. And if we all embraced the darkness and used that power, would we be "Guardians"?
Imagine a human or gardian battle cruiser that's as well armed as the cabal battle carrier's....god I have a soft spot for starship design..and I really want to see that
Plot twist: Lightfall isn’t about the end of the light, but a rebirth, a transformation. Like Rainfall washing away the old world and saturating the land, prompting new growth.
I think Lightfall will very much be the Infinity War or Revenge of the Sith of the Destiny universe. A moment where we'll ultimately hit our lowest, but still have some hope. In short, the darkness will win, but it will not be the end.
I believe I heard that the traveler had come from the deep(as in space), which means that there may be more travelers out there. The darkness is said to be one of the things we don't know much about, but with all these ships flying around I believe we know more of the dark than the light.
Bungie recently said that light fall will end the first saga in Destiny "the light and darkness saga" So that makes it seem like there will be something after that, whatever that could be though i have no idea.
Well, considering the vex predicted no outcome but Darkness winning after the Undting mind, well... *DIED* I'm guessing they either run away, or try to form an alliance with every race to Either make a stand and win, Or die trying. But hey., I am a pro vex guy, Love the vex.
I think the part that worries me most is that Bungee is at some point going to FORCE me to side with the Darkness... They kind of cheated it with Forsaken with the whole "OHHH! DID YOU KILL HIM!? OR WAS IT PETRA?? IT'S LEFT UP TO YOUR IMAGINATION!" but at the same time, it seems like we're getting closer and closer to having your hand forced to side with the darkness or whatever the majority choice is. There are few things that feel worse than watching your character in a game forced to make a decision you would never make while you're yelling at the screen to please stop it already. (Save for in the one shadowkeep mission where you're inside the pyramid and if you WANT to leave, the darkness itself will force you back in. That was a cool way to do it narratively) While I doubt this would ever happen, because the whole game would need a rebalancing if it were to happen, a part of me has enjoyed speculating with how when we lose the EDZ we will probably lose the Farm as well meaning Bungee will theoretically have one extra social hub slot it can fill, and what if this whole breakdown of the vanguard and divide of light vs darkness leads to two factions in Destiny... those who side with Eris, the Drifter, and the Darkness and those who stand with the Vanguard and the traveller. Those who follow the traveller would mostly be based at the tower, while those who chose they preferred the darkness would go to a new hub where the darkness was set up. I'm not saying to set it up like a full PVP Alliance vs Horde divide. Both sides would be able to visit both hubs as they wished... but more like where you choose to side with the drifter or the vanguard where you start to see two sides of the same story. Anyways, as I said, that is just me theorycoding, and it's VERY unlikely Bungee would go down that route at all, but as long as at the end of the day I'm not forced to turn my back on the traveller I'm happy! I never really trusted the speaker too much in Destiny 1, but I literally jumped out of my seat when the traveller activated in destiny 2!
Here's my spinfoil hat theory: The darkness wins, we try to flee but like the Light, the Darkness is literally everywhere. We realize that there's no way to escape the Darkness in this universe so we open portals to other universes. Here's the spinfoil part: Each universe contains its own traveler. Same with the darkness. This way our powers still work. Guardians are scattered to thousands of universes, including those of other franchises. With this, the essence of Destiny is immortalized and Guardians start to pop up in other games.
I was reading and so I was about to write a thorough response to this, with my genuine hypothesis of what will, can, and may happen according to the lore and shit, but then I got to the spinfoil part and I'm just so 100fucking% on board with that.
11:31 I think the answer actually lies in the Stranger. The vex can’t predict the actions of a time traveler who knows events that haven’t happened, she is our ace in the whole for being the one version of events where the darkness doesn’t win, she is essentially Doctor Strange
Is the ghost fragment from VoG still even valid? After all, Osiris said that every simulation changed when we killed the Undying Mind, so are *ANY* of the previously made vex predictions still valid?
While I'm interested in what "Lightfall" will entail, I'm more interested in what will happen with the Vanguard. Zavala has forbidden Guardians from using the Darkness. But I don't know about you guys, but I don't plan on stopping using Stasis, or any other Darkness Sub-classes we get. Now that I think about it, what if Lightfall isn't necessarily the end of the Traveler or the Guardians as a whole, but what if it's the collapse of the Vanguard?
I feel like it would be really cool if we had something like a space equivalent of an aircraft carrier and that acted as the social hub instead of it being a tower of some kind
Honestly, while I really like the Refugee Fleet idea another concept I've always thought would be a really cool idea would be using the Vex as and their time travelling shenanigans as a plot point that allows us to visit key historical moments or even places that were destroyed long before the original Destiny... Imagine being able to tread upon Fundament and its' many moons before (or even on the lead up to) the Syzygy. Or helping to fight a shadow war against Savathûn's infiltration of Ana-Harmony and the other nine Harmonious Worlds during the Hive-Harmony War. We could tread upon the Torobatl during the Midnight Coup. Or fight against the Hive on alongside the Taishibethi Sun-Ravens to prevent the Golden Amputation. Perhaps we could stand upon Riis during the Whirlwind and witness the exodus of the Fallen? Or will we finally, get to see the famed Distributary in person? Truly the possibilities are endless... With the Vex spanning all of time and space and our demonstrated ability to shatter the bonds of Time and Destiny due to our paracausal nature, we could very well end up battling the Darkness across all of time and space in a desperate attempt to subtly shift the tides of history in our favour and rewrite whatever great disaster awaits us in Lightfall...
I personally think the exodus ending will happen with the fallen house of light where both races make peace and become space faring after suffering a similar fate

@@thebrokenone9478 Yeah fair
@@thebrokenone9478 The last DLC...SO FAR. They may announce more closer to or during that year.
2 years ahead
JUST MY THEORY
Something tells me that light fall may be the final dlc for D2.
But seriously, what happens if the Traveler dies?
i'd think that we start converting over to the darkness' powers
I’d love to see something like WoW where there’s a faction system, in this case light vs dark guardians and it is based on in game which side will win and as a result continue destiny’s story.
I was thinking very similarly. The Traveller will keep losing and losing until it hits rock bottom and then we'll probably get a redemption Arc in which the Traveller will start actually do something to fight back to its original glory or even further beyond that.
The Traveler is like a dog, we get a new one
If the Traveler dies, I'm thinking we'll see Sol, or at least Earth as lost, and be forced to abandon the system at least temporarily. Like you said, maybe we'd be able to return(likely, given the nature of the content vault) and perhaps retake Earth, or at least stage a foothold in Sol. Perhaps our main social space would be within the hull of a human battlecruiser, with refugees and members of some of the other races.(cabal and fallen most likely) We'd be able to carry out scouting missions and strikes into the lost worlds in Sol.

This is a very really possibility. I just wish I could keep my stasis though, I love freezing and then shatter diving onto enemies.
Also perhaps that is why the traveler left the fallen. There was no good place in their solar system to plant a tree of light which is why it “abandoned” the fallen.
still think this now
bc traveler still alive
I agree that the tree is meant to be used to plant a new Traveler somehow. As for a rumored “new age”? By The Final Shape, we may have to balance light and dark to defy the final shape and bring about an era of balance in which Guardians wield darkness and light to protect humanity and the universe. An era where we aren’t slaves taken by the Darkness, or protectors blinded and ignorant by the Light, but rather new Guardians that walk the line between.
The light will trip down some stairs during LightFall.

lightfall is such a badass name, i hope they don’t change it
I always took “Lightfall” to be a play on words for ‘Nightfall.’ So I pictured Lightfall to mean that after a period of darkness, which I assume happens after Witchqueen, the light falls on the darkness.
I like that take. Not only does it make sense thematically, but it holds to the hope of light overcoming the darkness, which it always eventually does.
I’d like a game where we lose for once but not an 8 year commitment
I wish they would make it so we lose after eight years of struggling.
Yea kinda like Halo Reach where are guardian fighting to the very end like Nobal 6
My assumption for lightfall remains that that is when guardians will have to decide to either side with the pyramids or the traveler
Still wish they kept the concept that the Traveler is a bad thing
This season has shown that the line is not so sharp and defined as we've believed up until now. We believed the Hive were inherently sided with the darkness, and that they were creatures of darkness, but the interference missions show that the goals of the Darkness and the Hive, or at least Savathun, differ. The intro mission on Io shows Savathun pulling us from the pull of the Darkness.
@@Wizard_Pikachu I still wish they never make it clear.
@Jacob Chapman That was never a thing. The traveler was never bad. It just never really told us about the darkness. The traveler the kept secrets, it’s not bad. The original destiny story was focused around rasputin and the hive, not quite the traveler and darkness.
Aka PvPvE patrol zones?
I like the theory that the city will be destroyed and we will be forced too live amongst the stars on huge ships tbh
Only thing that’s for certain about Lightfall......I’m terrified too see how the story unfolds

Child Of God ..... true just leave calus on a boat cause he’s ready for his time
Child Of God first off Take it???? That would involve one of 2 things
Either A: Killing Calus
Or B: convincing him to help Humanity and whatnot and as far as we know he is pretty set in his ways about letting the Darkness win
But either way there’s a whole year between Beyond Light and Witch Queen and then another on top of that, a lot can happen Season wise between then and now
Also as far as Calus is concerned the reason for him leaving Sol is too go fight his Daughter so maybe either he will come back one season and ask for our help defeating her and then will join us or he will join us after defeating her on his own OR Just not come back at all
Sorry for the tirade XD really love lore :P

Yeah-- it's not like exploring the Leviathan is actually deadly :P gotta be embarrassing for the Loyalists when Guardians come to casually grind for kills and XP.
We could totally just use the Tribute Hall. It'd be cramped, but we could store at least a couple hundred people in there.
Lightfall has 3 scenarios it can take to me
I like the sound of 2 and 3 put together
Yeah for sure 2 and 3 sounds great
I’d love to be able to encounter a guardian of the light, maybe with proximity chat and have a convo kinda in character, preparing to activate my behemoth while the warlock readies their sacred blade for combat on the remains of the Last City, and the Final Disaster of Humanity
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who's thought of scenario 2, right down to the open world enemy change.
or all of them to make an absolutely ballin dlc that i’ll never forget
I think lightfall will be the the biggest plot twist in destiny history, we’ll find out the traveller is evil and was using the guardians to defend it while it gains enough strength to leave us. We will have no choice but to side with the pyramids as the traveler is reading to leave us. We’ll side with the fallen and most likely cabal.

It's light

3 houses? Like Titan, Warlock, and Hunter? :p
I doubt it. We're claiming darkness based powers so we don't have to rely on the light anymore.
Dude deserves it
Vex are incredibly supportive of the darkness, I doubt they would try to escape anything relating to it.
@@Life_and_Gaming iirc there's only one sect of the vex that worships the darkness. The rest are just doing "how to conquer this world 101"
The vex are somewhat perplexing to me (kinda why they’re my favorite race with Hive just in 2nd place).

She ends up saying that the traveler shines quickly while the darkness os closing in and then she wakes up in the tower and sees cayde. Meaning that she went back in time. But the stranger also says that she has seen every outcome of failure but none intrigued her as much as watching OUR timeline (your guardian). Using new info from Witch Queen I think we either:
1) We journey find another Traveler outside the Sol System (Savathûn insinuates there are other Travelers, as well as that our destiny may lie outside of Sol) - but until then it's a redo of The Red War until then - the rules are different if light is dependent on the Traveler alone
->this fits with the fleet lore at the end of the video, though with the loss of the factions and their fleets things might shift.
We will die in Light fall and discover that we have a Throne World now that we wield darkness
We killed Oryx using bomb logic. Part of the reason why Toland was pissed at us during The Taken King.
Watch This Space
ok, i want this to happen
@@tacticalfluke247 is your name a titan reference?
And considering next Expansion is going to deal with Savathun, we may only have The New Red Legion and the Darkness Ships to deal with when that day comes (Unless if Eramis does indeed return to life and Savathun escapes death by our hands.)
So Lightfall may be the "Last Stand" for a better future.
Beyond Light was a warning, and a first attempt at diverting the track towards that Future Elsie has lived so many times.
Lightfall is our last chance to stop that future from coming to fruition
Really minor point but Mystery: The Vault of Glass 3 was not found within the VoG raid, it was instead found in the heroic version of the VoG mission that had you fight Taken that was part of TTK
as eris said the night isnt the end we'll have to survive the night, so we can see what comes next. dawn.
Now that crow has become sort of a speaker, I think he will show us where to go
the first thing that came into my mind when u were reading the lore card about the drifting ghost, is that a possible first mission for LF, were rushed into the game, darkness coming with no mercy, we need to prepare our ships, *(warp drives and what not) ourselves, and whatever, its a timed mission, and if you dont do anything intime, the darkness destroys you and you have to redo the mission over and over, until you get it.
It’s going to be when our timeline collides with the dark guardian timeline - but this time we will win
“What will happen in Lightfall?”
A set up for a third game
Destiny 3 : we have dlc for the next 20 years with time travel where we will try to not fuck up
@Ronin Esquivel Activision worked for halo thats why its perfect and than d1 is way better than d2 ,d1 is an aweaome Game ,d2 wound be Perfect in an movie yes but as a game eeehhhh
No matter how dark the future maybe we have the calming voice of Byf to lead us through it.
I wonder if our grave where we got bastion will come into play in lightfall.
The funny thing is one of the concept art of destiny one was a few fleets which housed humanity.
They were shown when downloading the game
The fact you can flip from serious to memes without breaking "character" is astounding
I never read this title as light having fallen, but similar to nightfall it is the cast of light on everything
That’s cool, Bungie has a concept art of the Traveler opening up and transforming into a big ship, with a lot of large human fleet flying around it.
Going back to this after the season of the seraph finale
Can't believe they killed Sagira offscreen, at least give us a damm cutscene or something.
For real
I can only imagine whats going on with the development for Lightfall. 2 years out, probably writing the script, getting some assets and weapon concepts in a group of like 10 people. Must be exciting!
Doesn’t the “Obsidian Tower” sound like either a new campaign or a raid?
I hope it's like the traveler leaves sol and humanity becomes like fallen 2.0 or something that'd be awesome
No wonder we died
Got the feel the start of lightfall will have us venture somewhere outside of our system to find new potential allies to help us fight the darkness
Although ‘Lightfall’ is an ominous and foreshadowing title, it’s only a working title for the time being.
Exactly. That is why I am taking everything I read with a grain of salt, but I do enjoy reading everyone's thoughts and speculations.
I sure hope it sticks, but name aside, they clearly have a plan for it, and I doubt using the Pyramid as the icon for it was done flippantly.
Ghaul already proved that without the traveler, there is no light for the ghosts, which means no Guardians. If Sol is lost, so are we. We'd be utterly powerless to fight back. And if we all embraced the darkness and used that power, would we be "Guardians"?
I feel like the traveller is preparing to leave us. Probably to flee the darkness again.
This. We wouldn't be the first race the Traveler has noped out on, and [⚠ SPOILER WARNING ⚠] In the Dark Future lore books it abandons us
Imagine a human or gardian battle cruiser that's as well armed as the cabal battle carrier's....god I have a soft spot for starship design..and I really want to see that
Plot twist: Lightfall isn’t about the end of the light, but a rebirth, a transformation. Like Rainfall washing away the old world and saturating the land, prompting new growth.
That’s what the developers said its more like the beginning of a new era
I think Lightfall will very much be the Infinity War or Revenge of the Sith of the Destiny universe. A moment where we'll ultimately hit our lowest, but still have some hope. In short, the darkness will win, but it will not be the end.
What if instead of "Lightfall" meaning the falling of the light, its "Light Fall" as in the light is falling upon something say, the darkness?
@@mistilteinn4981 But, behind the ship is the traveler?
Or it could mean our characters death, we’ve seen our graves, at the moment (to me that is) every possibility is on the table
*DIED*
I'm guessing they either run away, or try to form an alliance with every race to Either make a stand and win, Or die trying.
But hey.,
I am a pro vex guy, Love the vex.
coming back to this makes me realize what Crows possible part to play in destiny is
plot twist: someone forgot to pay the electric bill
Lmao
That was a cool way to do it narratively)
While I doubt this would ever happen, because the whole game would need a rebalancing if it were to happen, a part of me has enjoyed speculating with how when we lose the EDZ we will probably lose the Farm as well meaning Bungee will theoretically have one extra social hub slot it can fill, and what if this whole breakdown of the vanguard and divide of light vs darkness leads to two factions in Destiny... those who side with Eris, the Drifter, and the Darkness and those who stand with the Vanguard and the traveller.
Here's my spinfoil hat theory:
The darkness wins, we try to flee but like the Light, the Darkness is literally everywhere. We realize that there's no way to escape the Darkness in this universe so we open portals to other universes.
Here's the spinfoil part: Each universe contains its own traveler. Same with the darkness. This way our powers still work. Guardians are scattered to thousands of universes, including those of other franchises. With this, the essence of Destiny is immortalized and Guardians start to pop up in other games.
this could work
infinite destiny
@@luxaeterna9711 the infinite destiny theory
I was reading and so I was about to write a thorough response to this, with my genuine hypothesis of what will, can, and may happen according to the lore and shit, but then I got to the spinfoil part and I'm just so 100fucking% on board with that.
So your saying that our guardians would start poping up in:
-Halo
-Boarderlands 1-3
Add to the list, i dont know
11:31 I think the answer actually lies in the Stranger.

"The lore entry reads as follows-"
Ad: HEEEEEYYYYAAAA HEYA!!! OH OH!
I am happy that there is a confirmed 1 more expansion after Lightfall, and plans for more stuff afterwards
