I am beginning to feel that the Traveler is pampering Crow for something. I think that the Traveler may be jealous, for lack of a better word, or we may be mislead in our confidence with stasis. I’m just saying something fishy is going on.
The darkness is the force of death. So as long as we keep killing it has no problems with us that's the reason why let's us have it's power. The same reason the Hive has a pact with the darkness to keep killing

Destiny 1’s campaign seems to make sense now, as we are finally approaching the climax of the story that was hinted at by Bungie back in 2014.
Zavala yeeting himself into the Scarlet Keep was my favorite moment while reading this.

It's actually wild how much this lore book ties together Destiny's story threads since the beginning. Shows where the game is headed in how our timeline differs to the dark one. Most excited I've been for Destiny's story ever.

Hate to say this Byf, but you got a major detail wrong: Elsie specifically tells us that in her Dark Future, "you were no exception" to the pull of the Darkness' Corruption. Therefore, we were indeed in the other timelines, and our presence there changed nothing. Just thought you should be aware.

Exactly. I believe most events in Elsie's timeline may actually play out. But, the future we saw of our final death in the Corridors of Time will be the stopping point.

Honestly I hope we get to see this timeline with our own eyes, sort of like the infinite forest showed the future, though not in the forest.
I really want to explore this type of place, that and fighting dark guardians sounds like it could be fun.

When I realized that Zavala was dead, an immense sadness welled up inside me and I realized just how much all these people mean to me. Thank you so much for sharing this lore with us Byf, it really brings depth and meaning to this game that we all love. Edit: This is 5 minutes later and I heard that Zavala was alive! I now fill with an immense feeling of hope and joy! Also I love how you played Journey in the background, perfect choice.

It's so incredibly bittersweet hearing this. I'm filled with hope as a movie plays in my head. Theres a chance, they have a _chance_ .. but.. this isn't our timeline, this has all already happened.. and we know it fails. I'm not ready to have this play as I'm forced to picture Savala take his final, last stand and Elsie forced to put her sister down like a zombie that's just turned

We weren't the only factor that changed this current timeline, it was the exo stranger coming to us and guiding us that made the cloak and dagger missions successful in the black garden. Elsie going back is likely the main reason that this timeline is different, not us.

I have a theory:
The Darkness KNOWS Elsie Bray is watching it through timelines. After all... It IS paracausal. If the Vex can see through time, so can the Darkness.
I think it's toying with Elsie and showing her a brighter possibility that we can win since she's more actively involved in our timeline than any other.
Just when we think we've become the apex predators of space and time, Lightfall drops... The Darkness wins. Guardians are shown that as strong as we are, the Darkness still had control.
A grim fate for sure, but where's the tension if we never lose?
The only problem with this theory is one that, much like the light and dark, is outside of the game's universe: bungie wants more money. How are they gonna get people to buy more silver if their guardians are all dead?
But guardians are paracasual so even if darkness can read "time" its not ultimately written.
@@griqs that is true but it can manipulate time just as good, if not better, than we can. It has many millennia of practice and even taught the Vex how to do it. Who's to say it's incapable of pulling a fast one on us?

I think that you are right, but we will not truly lose, similar to what happened during the red war, but with far more dire circumstances. As a matter of fact, maybe we will lose the traveler, but discover that we have light in each of us and learn to use that and become self reliant as a species, not forced to rely on other beings. And then we will maybe learn a lesson and abandon stasis.

Well you people know how the world is today and I felt it. It really hit close to home cause I miss that too. We all do.

Savathun casually ripping Zavala's leg off shows just how powerful Hive gods are. After all, guardians are by no means, weak. Hell we're strong enough to defeat a hive god ourselves. The fact that Savathun was able to do that to Zavala just shows that Hive gods are not to be trifled with.
Well but they aren’t truly gods. Think about it. Gods can’t truly die and stay dead. We haven’t seen oryx since king fall, nor any mention of him being back to life. Period
@@MothFable True, but we did kill him in his Throne World, which is the place where Hive gods are their most powerful and most vulnerable. The only way to completely kill a hive god, is to do in their throne world.
Exactly. The fact they can be permanently killed means they are very powerful, not gods, this is good and gives us hope because it means we can fight the hive, no matter how powerful they seem.

It's not because we weren't there in the Dark Future, our guardian was. It was just that we became corrupted just like all the others as the Exo Stranger said:
" You see now. Darkness resides within, beckoning you, as it has many others. Across lifetimes...timelines.

Definitely agree that the voice modulation was a great touch with Elsie's parts. Makes it very easy to distinguish who's talking, extremely helpful, Byf.
Please do more of that in the future. It makes me much easier to listen to these videos while playing Destiny like I usually do. I can keep full track of what's going on even in the middle of a GM nightfall, that's how good it is.

My one issue with us being the catalyst of change is that I remember when going through the story for beyond light, I remember Elsie slowly opening up about this not being her timeline and talking about the others and she told us we also fell to the darkness in the other timelines just like the other guardians.

Stasis is the opposite of entropy. It builds perfect crystal formations. Being trapped in stasis feels like being stuck in a non moving void.
I always saw it as removing all heat from whatever object it hits, make all its molecules stop moving and reach absolute zero. In real life this would be impossible since it would be absorbing heat from its surroundings, but since the darkness is paracausal it can break the rules. Since the darkness represents entropy, it seems fitting that its power mimics the heat death of the universe
This gives a whole new meaning to "become legend"

I have my doubts about Eris' state of corruption. In our timeline, she doesn't seem corrupted. But if you read the "Regarding Stasis" lorebook (I hope I'm getting that name right), she is EXTREMELY aggressive. She talks about taking revenge on all enemies of the City, burning them down to dust and stomping them beneath her feet.
I wonder if she will end up being the true villain of the Witch Queen expansion.

Man there is just so much for me to say right now. Never has a story in destiny moved me so much it's a crazy feeling for some reason. I was able to feel my jaw drop and smile and frown as I was picturing the story in my head when you were reading. This is the most interested I've ever been when it comes to destiny lore for me, some of these parts were just insane to me like finding the drifters body in the crypt and eris being the greater enemy, along with zavala being so weak and hopeless. This is in my opinion the greatest lore card in destiny 2 I'm so pumped for part 2!

Hopefully, I believe currently in this seasons Ana is at the tower trying to interface him into the Exo body she recovered from Mars but it’s not currently working. Maybe in future seasons they’ll make a section of the tower with her and ‘Red’ as a vendor section.
Whereas obviously in this timeline they used the crypt to forcibly make him a compatible body. I’m sure they’ll figure it out. Rasputin’s too cool to be left on a disk drive.

I'll admit I was on the fence about red but some of the dialog about him warming up to us and then seeing felwinters story and then seeing the almighty get blasted from the sky I was kinda 50/50 on him hopefully he will fully redeem himself
@@DragonKnight90001 I feel the less control people give Clovis the better for everyone frankly. The AI has already hinted at wanting to take over Banshee to reclaim the original body meant for him.
Last thing you want to give him is a what is effectively a super computer engram. I actually trust Rasputin more in that case.
That and I doubt Ana would ever agree to that risk either.
So at this point I’m guessing that we’re going back to VoG in order to send Elsie back through time. She has to figure out time travel somehow. I wouldn’t even be surprised if we taught her how to use Stasis at this point lol.
