    The second NVMe slot is only available on the 3050 ti configuration. This model has the 3060 GPU, which includes a vapor chamber that takes up the space where the second NVME slot would go. If you try to configure a second NVMe drive you'll see that it forces the 3050 ti GPU.

    For future laptop reviews it would be nice if you could test the mic at the same time as the webcam. There's a huge difference in mic quality between different laptops, and this laptop in particular is known to have terrible mic quality.

    You didn't mention anything about durability and realeybity. For me, these are essential features. I would like to know how will ThinkPad do over 5 year period compared to Legion or other laptops?

    This thing starts power throttling if you look it it funny... Definitely not for gaming. Runs best at lowest power level.

    I returned a Legion 7 in favor of a ThinkPad P1 Gen 4 which is more or less the same as the X1 and have not regretted it. It doesn’t have the all out performance of the Legion but its fans are MUCH quieter. The only thing I miss is the high refresh display but the 60 Hz screen isn’t terrible for gaming. Even with the higher capacity battery, unplugged run time still isn’t great. I can only get around 4-5 hours of modest tasks but this is a problem endemic to Intel 11th gen CPUs. Regarding the second SSD slot, this is only available on models with the RTX 3050 Ti or lower GPU. Those with an RTX 3060 or better only have a single M.2 slot because of the vapor chamber cooler.

    • @iamdmc
      @iamdmc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Actually the vapour chamber cooler isn't included for models below the 3070 (unless they've recently kicked it down to the 3060 too)

    • @saturnotaku
      @saturnotaku 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iamdmc Lon's review sample is the 3060, which you can see in the chart at 12:05, and in the teardown at 2:34 it is the vapor chamber. Further, if you check older reviews of this model, such as on Just Josh's channel, you'll also see that the 3060 has the same cooler.

    • @iamdmc
      @iamdmc 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@saturnotaku looks like they upgraded the 3060 to the vapor chamber. In Notebookcheck's review they said only the 3070 and up got it

    • @saturnotaku
      @saturnotaku 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@iamdmc The 3060 has always been available with the vapor chamber. The PSREF spec sheet available directly from Lenovo confirms this - the 3060 version only has a single M.2 storage slot. Therefore it uses the vapor chamber.

    why can't lenovo come up with a thinkpad with RTX 3070?

  • @keyboard_g
    @keyboard_g 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The Thinkpad keyboard is superior to the Legion. Also the display is far more color accurate than the high refresh panels.

      Just the keyboard sucks. My t420s keyboard is amazing. I can't find a laptop with better build quality and keyboard

  • @iamdmc
    @iamdmc 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    You forgot some important points: 1) the keyboard sucks at 1.5mm when they could have put the standard (and far better) 1.8mm keyboard in. 2) the 3060 and below don't have the vapour chamber cooler which seriously gimps performance on both the GPU and CPU. 3) why wouldn't you just put in a second stick of RAM for your review? It's how most people will run it, and it's a poor excuse that Lenovo only sent it over with 1. It makes all of your benchmarks pointless.
    Overall you're too positive in your review. I would have appreciated a more critical review

    • @LonSeidman
      @LonSeidman  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      1. "The keyboard sucks" is your opinion, not mine. The keyboard is quite good and I noted the key depth vs. other thinkpad models.
      2. Noted thank you.
      3. I review these based on how the manufacturer chooses to ship to reviewers as this will likely mirror how the customer will experience them at retail. If there is a large enough performance disparity I will pop in an extra stick to demonstrate but here there's not much the average consumer will see different beyond the benchmarks.
      4. I stand by the review. I review products based on the market segment they're targeting : in this instance they're not targeting gamers but rather creative professionals. Based on those workloads it will perform well and is very lightweight and well built for travel.

      The 3060 version does have the vapor chamber cooling system, only the model with 3050ti and integrated graphics do not have that.

      @xybp942 wrote absolutely right comment. I think almost all youtube reviewers are silent about real problems of laptops. And I also think there are two options why it is so 1. reviewers get money from Lenovo for such reviews 2. they are not competent enough to do reviews. in both cases I suggest them to find another job.
