- "The Star-Spangled Banner" - Anthem of The United States of America [FULL VERSION]
ENGLISH:
I
O say can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming,
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there;
O say does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
II
On the shore dimly seen through the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected now shines on the stream:
'Tis the star-spangled banner, O long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
III
When our land is illumined with Liberty's smile,
If a foe from within strikes a blow at her glory,
Down, down with the traitor that dares to defile
The flag of her stars and the page of her story!
By the millions unchained, who our birthright have gained,
We will keep her bright blazon forever unstained!
And the Star-Spangled Banner in triumph shall wave
While the land of the free is the home of the brave.
IIII
O thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand
Between their loved homes and the war's desolation.
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the Heav'n rescued land
Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just,
And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust.'
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave! - เกม
Did I make any mistakes in the video? If I did, please let me know!
Also, please suggest what anthem I should do next!
Minor nitpick: "And the rocket's red glare" should be "And the rockets' red glare" (ie the glare of multiple rockets) as in Key's original lyrics. He wrote them after witnessing a British naval bombardment with Congreve rockets during the War of 1812.
Thanks for pointing that out! Whoever put the lyrics together on Wikipedia made a mistake lol.

As an Englishman residing in the United States, I hold a nuanced view of the War of 1812. Though I regard it as an insignificant and unnecessary conflict for both nations, it undeniably gave birth to something profoundly significant: the national anthem of the United States. Francis Scott Key’s stirring verses, immortalized by the tune composed by Stafford Smith at Gloucester Church, transcend the events of their time to speak to the enduring spirit of a nation.
During those tumultuous nights of bombardment at Fort McHenry in Maryland, as rockets glared and bombs burst in the air, Key’s hopeful gaze upon the steadfast flag captured a moment of indomitable resolve. The sight of the Star-Spangled Banner still waving at dawn was a powerful testament to the resilience and unity of the American people.
In reflecting upon this historical episode, I am reminded of the common threads that bind us across the Atlantic. We may have stood as adversaries in that era, but today, our shared heritage and values draw us closer as cousins rather than dividers. The anthem stands as a symbol of the perseverance and courage that define the American spirit.
On this Fourth of July, as I celebrate Independence Day side-by-side with you, my fellow cousins, I am heartened to see the Union Jack and the Star-Spangled Banner waving together, not in indifference but in solidarity and mutual respect. It is a testament to the enduring friendship and shared ideals that unite our nations.
Happy Independence Day, America! May your flag continue to wave proudly over the land of the free and the home of the brave!
Thank you all for being our fathers and bring England to America. Thanks for rule the waves. Rule Britannia 🇬🇧 🇺🇸

"And this be our motto: 'In God is our trust' is by far the best lyric in the anthen in my opinion
Except America isn't a theocracy, and most of our Founding Fathers wanted a clear division of church and state. It's kinda odd in that regard.
@theturtwig50 all of our presidents have been Christian, but they don't announce it, but they do sometimes use biblical references like, for example, Lincoln.
Agnostics can appreciate christian expansionism more than any other.
@@theturtwig50reddit comment
@@theturtwig50 The Separation of Church and state isn't in the constitution, it was just an idea that Thomas Jefferson came up with, and he himself was a Baptist Christian. Everyone who founded this nation believed that it was ordained by God and they set it up with Christian values. They did though, keeping with Christian values, want no one to be forced to believe in Christianity nor prohibited from worshipping their own beliefs. They did this out of their Christian morals since no one is a Christian unless they truly believe in Christ. That does not mean we need a separation of Church and state as the modern left depicts it, which means no religion in school or politics(meaning it can never be discussed nor play any part which is not what our founder father intended) and they also take separation of Church and state to mean that we should separate all Christian morals from state and restructure our government(which they already slowly did) to be atheist(which is really a religion of it's own with their God being science). Our founding fathers and people of the country up until the 21st century had made it clear that Christianity was integral to the nation and that our nation only existed because God ordained it and he blessed our nation, which we can tell he did if you take a look at the success we have we are the most powerful nation in the world due to our Christian values and we are also the most free and just country due to our country being built upon Christian Morals.
In conclusion: Separation of Church and State is not American doctrine it was just the Ideas of one man who helped make our nation, Thomas Jefferson and even he was a Christian. America is built on Christian Morals which align with what Thomas Jefferson meant by Separation of Church and State, that there would be no state religion(since everyone would be free to worship whoever they wanted) and that makes sense with a biblical worldview since we don't want to force people to believe in our religion, we only want to give them the message and let them choose to believe or not. That does not mean that religion should not be allowed to be discussed in Politics or in Academia nor does it mean the American Government should be Atheist since it is built on Christian Morals (doesn't mean that people can't be atheist by all means let them) but it doesn't mean that religion should be suppressed by the Atheist far Left democrats.
How I like to think of the song:
First part:
The United States of America succeeds in securing its respect and independence twice against the British Empire despite the harsh and severe consequences.
Second part:
The United States of America fights their darkest sins possessed in the Confederate States and wins the day.
Third part:
The United States of America bands together with the free world to destroy the vicious axis powers, unchaining millions of people from around the world.
Last part:
From 1945 to today, the United States of America continues to lead a post war world, leading to one of the most peaceful, happy, and prosperous eras in human history.
Peaceful and happy? Far from it.

I’m sad at how dumbfounded America has become, and the crimes
I was the lead singer in my high school band. And I blew a chance to sing the national anthem at graduation out of spite because my music teacher decided my senior band did not have the skill to play Meat Loaf: "Bat out of Hell" or Billy Joel: "Only the Good Die Young". Instead, some loser played it on harmonica, without vocals, and blew it, to the boos of the audience. I would do anything to go back and reconsider. I could have been the star of the graduation ceremony. Lesson: make decisions based on the future, not by right now.
Salute for the men who gave their lives for where we are right now. I don’t think veterans honestly get enough support for what they have did.
Women took part in it too, numb nuts.

What's so ironic is that the Third Stanza was only added during the Civil War, hence the "Traitor that dares to defile part", I find it funny (in a good way) that the Third Stanza represents WW2 in this video

The complete version is really beautiful
The complete version is incredible, but you have not heard it, the Woke liberals who want to rewrite history to satisfy a few, have replaced the 3rd verse because it makes reference to hireling and slave, these people were paid by the British to wage war againt America, but some prefer to think it is a reference to condoning slavery and hating slaves, which is simply not true, the song tells story, and the revision is just an attempt to rewrite American history by Wokes and other subversives

It is missing a verse
"And where is that band who so vauntingly swore,
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a Country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footstep's pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave,
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave"
That's Key's original third verse.
No, it isn't. That verse you have mentioned was replaced by the "When our land is illumined by Liberty's smile" one. That original verse by Key had an edited rendition after the Civil War that is present due to the verse mentioning slavery.
Replaced to satisfy a bunch of woke imbeciles, Keys 3rd verse is a much better explanation ofAmerican history, the tyranny of Britian subdued and the cast off who sided with the British who promised them freedom which all true American s distain
You are correct that the verse you quote is Key's 3rd verse, which is often left out of vocal recordings, as it references the British in a very unflattering manner. The basis of the original poem was the English attack on Fort McHenry, which was witnessed by F.S. Key while negotiating on a British warship in the Patapsco River. My reference is an published book I purchased at the library of the U.S. State Department in the 1980s. This recording replaced the original 3rd verse with one supposedly written after the Civil War. Does anyone have a recording made by a very special arrangement for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir and orchestra of verses 1, 2, and 4. Even the offices of that Choir do not have a copy of that arrangement. Final comment: The Smithsonian Institution has a long play album of various recordings of the Anthem, including a recording of "The Anacreontic Song", also known by its incipit alternate name, "To Anacreon in Heaven" byellin44@san.rr.com
What an anthem - I pray America is able to return to the ideals offered and sung about in this great anthem. God bless the USA.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave

"Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just," That line goes hard!

Funny how many people are commenting their political views in here. I'm not American but if you listen to your national anthem and then the first thing that comes to your mind is to start an argument online you're not very patriotic.
I've seen this same version on several videos. Where does the alternative third verse come from? The original written by F.S.K. reads: "And where is that band who so vauntingly swore that the havoc of war and the battle's confusion a home and a country should leave us no more their blood has washed out their foul footsteps pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave from the terror of flight and the gloom of the grave. And the star spangled banner in triumph doth wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave." Who changed the words of our national anthem?
It's a verse added during the US Civil War that predicted the end of slavery.
This is the stuff I listen to at 3AM

I’m comparing this to the very original poem by the way
First Part: after fighting 8 years, Americans got independence, maybe they were the first one to get independence from the brits!
Second Part: The Slave owners revolted and made the confederate states, but losing literally.
3rd Part: WW1, Great Depression, WW2, Vietnam War, Cold War. This part describes all the stuff that has happened to the US in the past 100 years in the 20th century
Final Part: through out 247 years, the US has been through alot, wars, economy crashing 2 times, presidents dying, but after all, im proud of my country
