    If you had a slight calorie surplus (300 to 500 calories) you might not get strong as fast or be doing "The Program" but you also wouldn't get fat so quick.

    • @senselessnothing
      @senselessnothing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      You can get your squat to 350 in four months if you're slightly genetically gifted.

    • @BigUriel
      @BigUriel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +21

      A complete beginner might. This shit isn't linear, 14lbs of muscle in four months on your 5th year of training will take some serious amount of gear, 14lbs of muscle in your first four months ever lifting weights, assuming you weren't doing any kind of resistance training prior, is achievable if you have half decent genetics, train hard and eat.

    • @senselessnothing
      @senselessnothing 4 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      @@BigUriel most people's 5th year of training is their 5th year fooling around, so for many it's very possible.

    • @BigUriel
      @BigUriel 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@senselessnothing True, my example assumed someone training consistently for 5 years, at which point you've probably made just about all the gains you ever will naturally, and your goals for the year are more along the lines of adding 15lbs to your total, visible muscle gains at that point are a unicorn.

    • @ZboczonyHektor
      @ZboczonyHektor 4 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      He did not say 14lbs of lean muscle. He said 14 lbs of lean body weight so its water + glikogen + muscle + many more. Lean body weight = body weight- fat weight. When you take creatine u gain like 4 pounds but its not lean muscle mass. Its just water.

    Lol Im 5'2. I use to weigh 101 when I was in 2019. I started lifting in 4 months ago, but before lifting this year, I was at 107. As of now, I am at 116.8lbs. on a surplus. I eat a lot of foods with fat because it is very difficult to even do anything on low low body fat. Have no energy levels.

    Sorry Rip, that doesn’t make sense, I think you made an arithmetic mistake. Theres no way a 38 year old can put on 14 lbs of lean muscle in only 4 months training. If you are a rank beginner you can maybe get a bit over 2lbs a month from beginner gains, three if you are 18 and like the most genetically gifted individual ever. More than that is PED territory.

    • @indominusolympus8802
      @indominusolympus8802 4 ปีที่แล้ว +24

      There's a difference between lean body mass and muscle mass. LBM is everything else that is not fat. Bone density, muscle mass, water, and glycogen among other things all make up lean body mass. Put those together and the numbers will make sense.

      After I detrained and my squat was as low as 300 it only took me a year to put on 25lbs of muscle and get my squat to 500 at 185 bw. You can grow much faster than you think.

    • @LTPottenger
      @LTPottenger 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's not true. Muscle does not build one fiber at a time over years. It can go up and down very quickly and will based on what you eat and your strength. If you are weak and underweight then you can gain huge amounts of muscle seemingly overnight. If you are already developed you won't be going anywhere until you make more adaptations which is very hard and slow at a certain point.
