      Your body height doesn't matter. Your testes height however will make an impact. Take oestrogen until your testicles ascend and enter for the female divisions and you'll be able to compete in powerlifting meets.

  • @AbuMaxime
    @AbuMaxime 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    There is a concept called "fat free mass index", more useful than BMI, because it is much less variable from person to person. The formula is the same as BMI but uses fat free mass as input, rather than total mass. The number you get is now training dependant. The average untrained person would have an FFMI of 18 to 19. The best natural bodybuilders achieve 24 or 25. Above 25 is thought impossible without drugs. You could use a scale such as "beginner = 18.5", "intermediate = 22", elite strength trainee = 24.5 then work the formula back and get an idea of your current body fat %. If you know your approx body fat you can use the formula and see where you stand. I personally found it very helpful.

    The bigger the gut/belly, or fatter you are, the better your leverages get for squat, bench, and press. Deadlift doesn't depend on bigger or fatter belly. In general, pulling exercises are unaffected. Look around at world class performances and in most cases it is true.

  • @koleary1798
    @koleary1798 5 ปีที่แล้ว +18

    I've been much happier, stronger and look better since I stopped bulking and cutting. I'll bulk for 6 months, gain like 6-8lbs, maintain for 7 months (making sure my lifts keeping increasing albeit a bit more slowly) and rinse and repeat. I ball park how much protein and calories I eat, I weigh myself every week and make sure that the monthly average is on track. That's it. I never feel overly bloated and sluggish, nor do I feel drained and weak.
    I admit, if you're purely going for strength then a more aggressive bulk is probably the option, but for my goals (and most gym goers I'd hazard a guess) my approach (or something similar) is probably the best.

    4-5lb per inch of height. That means at 6'2" I should be 296. That sounds about right compared to what I've heard from people in that world.
    That also means I'm 90 lbs underweight. For reference, Dwayne Johnson is 6'5" at 260 which means he's technically 40 lbs under(he's very lean though).
