The “they” refers to his emotions. He’s constantly in a state of torment and battle with his thoughts. It’s interesting how he worded this song, though. He’s asking his emotions to let go of him because he knows he won’t let go of them. So he feels enslaved to their whims.

It’s not only this song, too. Yes, he’s asking his emotions to let him go. his song Leave Me Alone, though, also talks to his emotions. and in Remember This, he talks about what happened with his happier emotions and why sadness and anger replaced them.
honestly, Nate is such a deep guy, I love it. maybe he thinks he’s not, but he’s a relatable guy, with these types of songs.

From a person with Depression. No one speaks to me as NF. This is by far my favorite song ever. When I am down this is my go to song. Seven letters is a double. The letters from "Revelations" and "Let Me Go". How awesome is that.

Im rewatching this in 2023 after he dropped HOPE and yeah, it all fits in perfectly now. He asked if he could be introduced to hope, and finally met Hope. WE have a whole album! thanks Knox for all the work you put into your videos man!💯💯💯

And yes he is an Artist. He let's you feel the song, even before he starts... And then he will let you breath..through out the song and as the song ends. I love the 52 sec of the 1st of a song that just gets in the mindset that he is going for. There is no other like NF.

This was my favourite song of the album, my top listen to on Spotify this year, it’s a masterpiece, also just added your tune Knox hill to my playlist

I am so glad you noticed the echo shout of "let me go" at the end. I also noticed he just let's out this pain filled scream after that and was like "WHY IS NO ONE TALKING ABOUT THIS PART ENOUGH?!"
I think when he said "shatter my perception", it was a reference to his album “Perception”. This man is capable to take his music to another level because of all the different meaning that can be found

This is one of the few songs that I listened to and cried upon first hearing it. The ending of him yelling under the piano gave me intense chills and sent me over the edge and cried more.
Depression and anxiety speaks volumes from NF to his fans and that is one reason why fans take a liking towards sadder or aggressive music as a way to feel connected, seen, and heard. NF is able to put these emotions into words that many of us feel and can immediately validate as we listen.
Oh man I just like the type of people who just appreciate a good song and the detail in the music. Because it's so much detail in nf's songs that even tho you listen 100 times sometimes don't get it but this dude gets the details first listen. Love it

You have to give credit where its due. NF is legit. People hate and say he's trying to be em. The man can rap and his music has substance. Very under rated
The way he self reflects in this songs is done beautifully and honestly impressive, for a bit I thought he was talking about someone imposing their high expectations on him but then I realized it wasn’t that. “Aim at their direction, shoot at my reflection” was mind blowing to me
It amazes me how you break these songs apart. Especially this one. You felt it. I feel this one a lot too. All of his songs are beautifully written, and so deep….but this one is him trying to pull himself out. You got it. I love it!!

I also think the way he flips the use of the repeated "no's" is super clever. At least to me it seems like the first set of "no, no, no's" is more from the point of view of "they" telling him no but the second set of no's is audibly more angry and its him yelling no and he's going to do what he wants and needs

"Shoot at my reflection shatter my perception!" - NF. Perception was the name of the album he released before The Search. He also said in Nate - "Yeah, Perception's coming next, we 'bout to reach the masses
It sounds awesome, at the same time, it doesn't matter" he got depressed when Let You Down blew up like he said in the Interlude on The Search. He loves what he does and how the fans respond to his music but he's at a mental crossroad because he knows what drives us to him is the way he expresses his thoughts and struggles and he's trying to let go of those struggles.
