I love my centre seat. Highly recommended. The clamp-on yoke isn't even necessary unless you're planning some really long portages, otherwise I would just leave it off -- totally agree with you, Bear.

We have two pack boats, selected for long day cruises with portages, and have been considering a tandem canoe. I see it being used solo when we want to carry more stuff to go camping, and if we invite another couple to go for a day cruise. Also for day cruises on the bigger lakes in windy conditions when the packs get blown around a lot. The third seat versatility seems like a good value.

I have tried the middle seat in my Polaris. I think it would be great for soloing with heavy load, but unloaded the boat sits too high in the water. It's difficult to control it when it winds. I find it easier to solo from the kneeling thwart position. I have a big empty bucket in front of me, roughly in the middle of the canoe. If wind disturbs my paddling I scoop a big enough amount of water in to the bucket for additional weight. In some cases I take up to 30 litres and it really stabilizes the canoe! It's easier than sitting in the center and trying to add weight to both ends of the canoe.

Always interesting stuff! Is that an IXP Phoenix in the background? I am pretty pumped to get one this spring! Finally replacing my old Royalex Rendezvous and thinking the Phoenix will be much more fun to paddle on rocky rivers!

Yes, pretty sure it's a Phoenix (the cameraman is kind of jerky). PX is way fun to sneak down rapids with!

Off topic but same realm. Educate us on paddles. Lengths, grips, blade shapes, straight shaft vs bent shaft. I’m sure you’ve tried them all, my bank account won’t let me, 😂

My B16 has a 3rd seat but it doesn't have any other thwarts other than the short ones in the very front and back of the canoe? Was it suppose to have any additional thwarts?

Can you do an E6 kneeling thwart on a Polaris?

We don't currently have an E6 Kneeling Thwart. If you order a KT in a boat with E6 parts it will be our standard walnut KT.
