This is one of the better recent “murica action” movies for awhile. Stallone and Arnie destroying everything like they’re direct descendants of Chuck Norris & Chuck Norris’s beard.
Arnold is a legit 200+ IQ man. And Stallone is a Jedi master, creating some form of language that sounds like English, but is truly “Merican” reaching audiences of all. And the good old “let’s put glasses on X, and have them pretend to touch a keyboard while looking at a screen saver.” 50’s true life goal has been met, to be in a movie with these other two great men

That opening escape is something Lupin III would have definitely done. In fact, to further the comparison to this movie, I can imagine "Lupin's" mask coming off to reveal it's actually Inspector Zenigata and that this whole "escape" was an exercise to show that no ordinary max security prison can hold the world famous thief.
Wow, this looks almost as good as Zuko and Sokka's escape from the Boiling Rock

Speaking 0f real life. First escape: that number pad would be in reach of prisoner, to be manipulated or destroyed at prisoners whim. And guard haven't felt nothing different with that plastic over that number pad he touches every day. Man o man.

The only problem with his first plan being realistic is that if that fire happened outside a real prison, they would immediately lock down the facility and do an inmate headcount. This happened anytime something took place in and or around any of the prisons I was placed at, being 4 prisons 6 different yards and 3 different jails. So that's my critique

1. You mean to tell me that none of the inmates could feel they were on a ship? That must have been the most steady boat in the world.
2. Why go through all the trouble keeping these men in a secret prison that would cost an absurd amount of money to operate, when they could just dump them in the middle of the ocean and be done with it.
3. Amazing recap as always
Some of them are getting interrogated for information. Some of them can be used as a bargaining chip of sorts, and it probably makes it easier to send them there than imprison them in their own private compound.
I feel like a prison on an island or in a very remote location would be easier. Shit, they got cult-like prisons in South America that are still in operation where you are always watched 24/7 by multiple true believers, they are escapable but very difficult and if you're obviously not a local youll stick out like a sore thumb

The movie actually explains it, but with a boat that massive and heavy, the amount of sway you feel is near minimal; to the point to where maybe you think you made an ever so slight misstep

This reminds me of Yoshie Shiratori , a Japanese person who had escaped multiple prisons in Japan.

I was on a tanker ship one time. We had in hull inspection of the ballast tanks. Went in there for like 20 mins and on that day it was really hot. At the end of it when we came out of the tank it was windy and the sun was shining in my face ( plus we were underway). It immediately reminded me of this movie (where one of the character escaped and came out of to realise he was on a sea). Good times

Fun fact: the boat at the end is the MSC Oscar. The world largest container ship. Vox did a great video on it. You could put the empire state building in it and you would still be 12 stories under water.

When Emil came up, I was like. DAM they even caught the terminator? This has to be the top tier prison.
I saw this movie. Ray's hobby, but his regular job to escape these prisons. The was so he could go to the architects and other designers to tell them what parts to upgrade the security on. This was likely inspired by the job of whitehat computer hacking, where an electronic security company asks the hackers to probe weak spots in their systems to see how bad the problem is and how to fix it.

Actually this is a real security job. People get paid to break into places and report on how easy it was. You can watch lectures on physical security from hacker conventions.

I saw most of this on TV years ago. I remember thinking it's weird to see Jim caviezel as a bad guy. And also randomly having Sam Neil in there in just some nothing part. I mean, that's Dr grant!! All in all this feels like a bigger budget version of the movie "lock up" that Stallone made in the '80s with Donald Sutherland being the sadistic warden.
