    So to start off Minelab does have a video about ground balancing. Granted that should be in the manual. I have experienced all the same issues as you have. I would have went with another pin pointer. My problem is I bought it as a bundle deal with the 540 pro pack. I do know weak batteries will make it go wonky. For the most part it has been useful. I thought I had a problem with the Ferris nonferris mode but I think it takes the pointer a sec to lock on and create the distinction. The light is not very bright but I am not using it at night. Another thing is if you wash it off the speaker hole will get water in it and the volume will reduce a bit. I just blew the water out and it was totally fine overall it’s my first pin pointer and detector. I am on my learning curve. I have mainly used the pin pointer in my yard because I am exploring an area full of stuff next to the house. Tons of keys have washed up through the years including a skeleton key. My house was built in 1901. Found 4 more keys today just in the 1 ft area zone was playing in and the pointer worked great

      I have persisted with the 35 and the one I have now hasn't faulted. Glad to hear yours is doing the job. Some good suggestions there. I agree on the battery thing, I had the same issue. Happy hunting

    Today is my first day detecting and my Profind-20 was giving me fits. Another video showed how snugging up the battery inside helps. So I McGiver'd a thick rubber band from my vegetables and wrapped the battery with a few twists. Its inside the housing Snuggly now. Some people have said that the pointer lacks a place to tether a line. That's not true. Two tiny holes in the battery lid fit a single wire key-hole ring. I attached a spare one and now I can attach a springy stringer from one of those CASINO cards you receive when loosing all the money you found metal detecting. Ultimately you find the coins in the ground, the slot machines take in the profits and the casino gets your hard earnings. That how it works, recycling.

      I have used a tool lanyard for mine. I had to go back too look for it once when detecting on a beach at night that's when I decided to use a lanyard.

    Hello Sir, I have the Pro-Find 35 and 40, If you only want the vibration and not the beeping, you must hold down the (-) minus button while powering up the unit. It will only vibrate. It will stay set like that every time you power it up. and will not beep again until you press the (+) plus button while powering up the unit. Also, if you have the quirky constant beeping, just depress the power button quickly and it will stop the beeping. I know this works on the 40, not sure if it will have the same results on the 35 as I have not had that problem as of yet. I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!!

      Thanks for the update. I don't have a 40 yet but intend to get one. They sound much better than the 35 which many people had problems with.

    I also just received my second warranty replacement for my Pro-35. Each replacement sent by the repair center was worse than the last. Same issues you demonstrated on the first and second. The third one would constantly power off when It alerted to a target, started clicking rapidly and would not power off when I tried. Just crazy stuff. When they send the third replacement I'm going to see if I can trade it in or sell it. It seems the Garrett is the next most popular.

    Thanks for your effort Bakerzinc.
    My first 35 failed under water at 1 metre depth or less.
    My supplier sent me a replacement & it also failed under water at same or less depth.
    Both times failed first time in salt water.
    Does not work anymore.
    Pretty disappointed for $250 AUD

    Good video. I have a Pro-finder 25 that falses almost constantly at higher sensitivity when pointing it up and down, just like your video. I just found out that if I hold it straight up or straight down while powering on, it doesn't do that. I think maybe holding it like that on power up must be canceling out whatever is causing the falsing. It's probably best to turn it on while pointing in the down position since that's the way it will be used.

    Mate, everything you're saying are problems I encountered too, like everything. There's no instructions or tips anywhere i could find. Thanks for your video, hopefully the calibration methods work, trying to find targets in the water or in deeper soil with the pinpointer beeping out of control is the worst. 👍

    Virtually anyone using a Minelab pinpointer eventually goes batty with false readings -- which, by the way, isn't remedied by smashing the crap out of it on a nearby tree. When not screaming on its own, it is still the best pinpointer.

    I have to issues with my 35 1 is when you invert it bring it back to normal it keeps beeping order issue when it finds a target and I take the pin pointer away from the targets it doesn't stop beeping until I put it back touching the target

    Just got a 25 spent most of the day kneeling my targets hole getting soggy knees and using some very colorful language...
    Evan after many restarts I started to work but jeez the distance from a target to the pinpoiner im early not impressed I had a xpointer miles better

    I had all those issues on my 35 to but its final death after one and a half years was the rubber over the on/off switch split letting in dirt and moisture. Far better next choice was the nokta pulse dive that comes in a quality case, spare o rings, tip cover, mini coil for scuba diving, and its pulse induction so no salt water probs, all for about the same price and no issues at all !
    Minelab dropped a bollock on this one

    I kind of felt wished I’d seen this before purchase just very recently! First thing I noticed was you can’t read the instructions they’re too small. And it seems a complicated bitta gear. Lights useless, to me just a power user. Oh well I suppose I’ll see how it goes because I’m stuck with it now!
    Same deal I purchased due to brand quality and Australian … and later I notice made in Malaysia 🤷🏻

    Ever since mine was new it wont stay on! I have to use my knock off carrot. The minelab one is junk! Also if i get it to come on and stay on if i invert it, it would shut off bc the battery was moving around. It doesn't fit tight in there. I put a Sacagawea dollar in it to hold it down

    It’s pinpointer mate........your skills using your detector and listening to the sounds........and yes the sounds will give you the best information on what your about to dig............if you go buy the VDI..only............your not getting half the picture. Dig the good sounds..........VDI’ s don’t matter........if it sounds good dig it. My early days were if it beeps dig it.............fantastic learning ground.............your detector knows what’s in the ground before your pinpointer..............if YOU really know what the detector is saying to you........pinpointer is not so important............just saying........after 40 years.............you do what you do.............to help yourself..........

      The pinpointer is for recovery! Not identification. With a good pinpointer you can drastically cut down your recovery time. I dont hunt without one.

    You’re kidding me. I thought that it was me! Same issues. There is nothing in the instruction about ground balancing (I just checked and the instructions are the same). I could hold it in the middle of the air and it would go off constantly. I could be 3km away from a road, let alone overhead powerlines. I would have to set it on the minimum to stop the beeps. What is the point of that? I would get a signal with the GPX and then use the pin pointer. I have chased signals with the 35, then nothing. Have I missed good gold or did I waste my time searching for something that wasn’t there? We all know that we pay for the Minelab name but we accept that (the technology has been around for years and I could build one for under $20) and that they are way overprices for what you get. That’s the norm these days and I accept that but I at least, I expected it to work as stated. I don’t know what you have in your state but in NSW Its Fair trading. I’m going to complain to them and you should too. That’s just plan false and misleading which is illegal and they need to be held accountable.

    • @bakerzinc7320
      @bakerzinc7320  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wel you are within your rights to pursue that under consumer law but Minelab will replace it under warranty as they are obliged to do so you may find you hit a brick wall there. Hopefully minelab eventually scrap this model and build a pin pointer that does the job and lives up to the minelab name.

    I have the pro 35 and when I move it around on high settings it beeps with just typing it up down sideways every direction but if I lower it down 3 notches its fine but I only get to the second power setting so useless I emailed minelab as well good vid srry for rambling lol

    • @bakerzinc7320
      @bakerzinc7320  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeh I feel your pain. The only answer is to return it (if its still under warranty) and try again. You could try get a refund. I haven't tried other pinpointers but I hear the garret carrot and the M14 are worth trying.

    • @robbiedennis
      @robbiedennis 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’ve got the exact same problems. It started of working really good. Now after 2 months it’s going completely erratic on the high setting even when I’m outside away from everything. It must have a design fault if there are a heap other people getting the exact same problems. I’ve been reading quite a few reviews. It’s disappointing as it started off working really good and I couldn’t fault it. Now it’s really annoying me. I’m thinking about sending it back under warranty. Hopefully I get a good one back that doesn’t have the same faults.

    • @jimyaekel7385
      @jimyaekel7385 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I started right off with that happening, then eventually it started powering itself off for no reason. I sent it in and they found the battery housing was cracked which would allow water intrusion. I just got the brand new replacement unit today and guess what? In level 3-5 it goes crazy when tilted. I'll try the ground balance Bakerzinc mentioned, but not confident.

    Thanks for that video very informative. I never knew about the ground balance before turning on as you said it's nowhere in the instruction manual. Anyway I used to have the 25 and sold my old detector with the 25. Fast forward 3 years later, decided to buy another detector and it came with a free pro find 15. The 15 is such a downgrade on the old grey 25. Was going to buy today the 35 but after watching your video I'm not sure now. Hearing some really good reviews about the XP rechargeable type. But seeing I've always had minelabs i like to stick with minelab. So overall would you still recommend the 35. Cheers

      I wouldnt personally buy one again unless minelab come through with thier promised fixes. Honestly based on the trouble experience with these pinpointers i think they should be recalled. I would look to the XP or Garret Carrot but cant comment on either of these as i have yet to try them.

    Just bought a eqanox 800 today its still in the b oox. Cant afford a pinpointer yet but i do have my garrett one for now. You wwould think if you van buy a electrick toothbrush for $60 and it has a charging system where you just sit it in the stand that they could do it for the pinpointer considering the price there wanting. I still have my eqanox in the box but started reading the paperwork. It sounds like i need to buy a 2 amp usb charger is this correct. I sent a message ogg tonight to minelab asking this before i take it out the box. Enjoy you info.look forward to learning more if i end up keeping it cheers Andy

    See all they had to do was admit the problem and fix the problem that they knew existed but NO they blame everyone and everything rather than admit the problem is theirs-if your goods are faulty Federal law says- repair -replace- refund-they will spend 5000$ to save a legally required refund of 250$ this is not the only issue Minelab have with there detecting gear and they know it.

      Hi Travis, under the Australian Consumer Law, every product sold has to be 'reasonably durable'. This is independent of what the manufacturer's warranty does or doesn't cover. Go back to them and say you are relying on the ACL and a product like this, designed for use in the bush, should be able to take a few knocks. Everything you discussed is exactly my experience also. Minelab profind35 is junk. Love my equinox but Minelab should really be ashamed of this product. I have a $20 chinese pinpointer that is more reliable than the profind. If I were Minelab, I would be embarrassed and try to resolve the problem as quick as I could.
    Also my unit has a really high pitch squeal that is constant. Anyone elso notice this?
    Minelab, get it together. I would have payed $200 if it was actually what you promised. Im deeply disappointed.
