    Just a note to add, when mounting tubeless tyres, do not exceed the rim Manufacturer's maximum pressure, that can differ from the tyres max pressure!

      You can also watch this video from Schwalbe about tire pressure: m.th-cam.com/video/3hvhTXd7gHA/w-d-xo.html&pp=ygUWU2Nod2FsYmUgdGlyZSBwcmVzc3VyZQ%3D%3D

    Great video Chris! It's worth noting that Schwalbe sealant (and Giant) is Stans regular sealant. I highly recommend Stans Race sealant on setup, then standard Stans to topup as required. Good to see you using the excellent Reserve valves now too!

    Very happy to see this video. Spent 20 minutes talking with Grant on Grinduro Friday. He’s tremendously knowledgeable, insightful and really friendly. I’m just a punter but he showed genuine interest in me and my bikes. I admit to using Schwalbe on most of my bikes and it was great to meet such an enthusiast. Too often brands want to extract your cash but he was very informative with tips, wishing us well, etc.

    Like the tip about using a patch for the valve, I've used a little square of gaffer tape in the past. Maybe some extra tips about what to do when the tyre wont seat, using a booster (I see one strapped to the track pump) and extreme cases using a strap all the way around the circumference of the tyre to hold it close to the rim (only had to do this with one brand of tyre).

    • @ChrisHallRides
      @ChrisHallRides  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep using a booster is a great shout if you’re still having issues. They also have a compressor in that van if they needed it

    • @billhulley
      @billhulley ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ChrisHallRides Compressors scare the sh*t out of me though. I worry that I'll blow the tyre off the rim and they can become a breeding ground for some very nasty bacteria 😬

    Just bought a set of Schwalbe One (28c) for my road bike. This video comes in right moment! This will be my first tubeless experience.
    Quick questions:
    1. Schwalbe Easy Mount isn't available in my country (Indonesia), since he said soapy water may become corrosive, is there any alternative liquid to use?
    2. Is 1 lap of rim tape enough for road bike?
    Thanks!

    • @ChrisHallRides
      @ChrisHallRides  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I’ve just asked Grant for you. Here’s the response I got:
      ‘Easy fit alternatives.... diluted! bike wash is what I have used in the past, but anything that leaves a residue MAY, cause the tyre bead to slip.
      A bowl with a sponge 🧽 is a good way to apply and get a quick application to the wheel.
      Tubeless tape wise, depending on what you are using, I.e how thick it is, I'd still recommend fitting two laps of tape.’

    Excellent explanation! Does 60-65ml seem like a good amount of sealant for a 700X42 tire?

    • @ChrisHallRides
      @ChrisHallRides  ปีที่แล้ว

    Also any tips for diagnosing tubeless slow flats/leaks?

    They’re concerned about the environment from CO2 canisters but not the thousands and thousands of tires each year that end up in dumps.

    • @ChrisHallRides
      @ChrisHallRides  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Schwalbe are fully aware that producing tires is not the most sustainable business but they're definitely doing more than any other tire brand in terms of trying to be more sustainable. They actually take back and recycle any brand tires and inner tubes. www.schwalbe.com/recycling-system/
