    *I had a W246 B Class 2014 and the HOLD function it worked a treat, however now replaced car with the current Model B200CDi AMG W247 and it works but needs 'more of a knack' Also the Cruise Control (on Stalk) on W246 Models I preferred to the rather small buttons on Steering Wheel on the latest series. **3:00** The Keyless Entry - my car has a tracking device (Standard) to identify where the car is and with the Mercedes ME App will alert you if car moved and show its precise location. However no one wants their car stolen so a good tip to turn this off if parking in a Public Space. Regarding 'Favorites' the MBUX will store and recall your last destinations, home, work address but also if you have in your Contacts the address of a person you can simply say "Navigate to Joe Bloggs' and it will do so with an option of routes.*

    The “HOLD” feature has become one of my favorites. I can truly relax at a stop light, and take my foot off the brake. I still tend to keep my foot ready for the brake, but I have never had a problem with it. Just a light pressure on the gas pedal releases the break and you go. It is also good fun for a quick start with heavier pressure on the gas. BTW, I also have a Sprint Booster that increases the throttle response that makes quick starts even easier and more fun.

      Nope not at all! By pressing down harder (when stationary) you’re basically letting the car know you want the brake to stay on. The car’s computer will show HOLD on the screen and it will not move whatsoever. As soon as you wish to go just lightly press the accelerator 👍🏼

    Nick, there is an even faster way to change a music track while you are on navigation menu or any menu. on the same area of the touchpad were you click to change track with a pop up menu. You do not have to click. simply SWIPE your finger from left to right on top of touchpad (Same area were you click to change tracks) but no click. just simply SWIPE from left to right to go to NEXT track or from RIGHT to left to go to Previous. It is less distracting than the pop up menu!

Do I have to press the brake pedal harder right in the moment of stopping the car (when the 0mph lightson the accelerometer) or this does not matter? • @npoleary
      @npoleary  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey thanks for the suggestion! Blind Spot Assist is enabled by default on cars that have it as far as I’m aware.
      Sadly I only started my TH-cam channel in 2020 so have limited coverage of models prior to that. I’m not sure my local dealer has any models in from 2018. I haven’t been there for a little while so don’t know what years of car they have in stock.
      Pretty sure on that year of car though, both of those things are controlled on the steering wheel. Using left/right buttons on the steering wheel keep pressing right until you get to settings. Then look in there for Blind Spot Assist and then also under I think Convenience, this is where you find mirror folding, again if it has it.
      Hope that helps!

      Hi Daniel,
      The HOLD feature is purely there to rest your feet when you're stuck in traffic. It's easier than leaning forward and pushing the button for the parking brake. You'll also find the car will move away smoother when using the HOLD feature than the parking brake especially if you're on a hill.

    What does the 'C' underlined with km/h mean on the top left of the computer display and can it be removed. - wouldn't mind if it was mph - still wouldn't understand it though! 🙂. Great channel I've just discovered it and subscribed. Thank you. Brian.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brian Warbrick,
      The ‘C’ stands for comfort on your Dynamic Select switch. Depending on your model of Mercedes-Benz, you should have Eco, Comfort and Sport (some also have Sport +). These will affect how the car feels when you drive.
      Eco - Less power from engine, but you will save fuel
      Comfort - The standard setting, smoothes out gear changes and mid power from engine
      Sport & Sport + - Increased performance, useful if you like a responsive car or need to accelerate quickly
      Regarding your Kph, Mercedes-Benz chose not to cram mph and kph in on the dials so have opted for a digital display instead. You of course can have mph on the main screen but you have to have kph somewhere on your dashboard too!
      Hope that answers your questions!

      I've only had it couple of weeks and still finding things. You've saved me two weeks of poking around. So presumably if I move my Agility switch to one of the sports modes the C would become an S ? So are the accompanying numbers of the km/h what speed I'm doing? But in kilometres ? Thanks for being so patient and very knowledgeable. B.

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Brian,
      Not a problem! Happy to help!
      Yes in the C-Class SE it’s called Agility (same switch for adjusting the car’s driving mode). You should have all of them in your C-Class and yes if you change it, it’ll change to E, C, S or S+.
      And with the kph it’ll show you your speed as you start driving 🤓
      Mph can be shown on the screen in big underneath which most people prefer to be honest.

      Hey Millikan, thank you and glad you like the videos! 👊🏼
      No it should work every time however I do know the sensitivity has been reduced for newer cars so there does have to be a very distinct touch on the door handle for it to work.

    Great video - thanks, and the steering wheel on the right side! :) Now if only someone can work out how UK owners can get rid of the useless km/h on the central display and replace with outside temperature like every other country. Isn't km/h an old EU requirement?

    • @npoleary
      @npoleary  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ozodyssey,
      Thanks for the kind comments! Well actually most car manufacturers print km/h on the analog dials. As Mercedes-Benz don’t (and the car is made in Europe) it is a legal requirement to have km/h somewhere on your dashboard. That is the reason it’s digital.
      Although I do agree with you on that one regarding the temperature outside, should be visible all the time! You’ll be pleased to know most of the new models coming out soon do have that 👍🏼

      2. Is the cross traffic braking system engaged or do I need to engage it?
      3. How do we create profiles? I heard this was possible and I’ve seen this in the A-Class.

      The seat belt extender is usually automatic on S-Class Cabriolet’s as far as I’ve seen.
      Cross Traffic is enabled by default but only if you have optional driving assistance package.
      And profiles unfortunately are only found on cars with MBUX. S-Class’s don’t have this yet but the new one next year will have it.

    Hi Nick. Great video! Will definitely use the hold feature😀 Any idea if you can always disable Lane Assist? This has become a daily first thing to disable when I enter my CLA 2020..

      Hi Brent,
      Yes that HOLD feature is great, I use it everyday!
      With the new CLA, it comes with Active Lane Keeping Assist as standard and yes as you’ve noticed, it does come on automatically every time you turn it on. As it’s a safety feature it can’t be turned of permanently.
      It’s designed to stop you leaving the lane if you accidentally drifted to one side of the road, however if you indicate when you know you’re going to go over a line in the road, it switches it off temporarily so you won’t have that jolt when it brings you back into lane.
      Hope that helps!

    Hi Nick can the stop/start function be turned off permanently in my new A class?

      Hi Joaquin,
      No it can’t be turned off permanently as it’s there to help reduce emissions and fuel use.
      You can of course turn it off if you wish when you first turn it on each journey and it will stay off until the ignition starts again.

    Talk to us about mb connect? About heating/cooling options!

      Hi Dr. Dragos M,
      I've already made a video on Mercedes me Connect! That was one of the first videos I made:
      th-cam.com/video/feH79nGEAPo/w-d-xo.html
      In terms of remote heating / cooling options you can do this if you have an auxillary heater which is found in Electric Vehicles, Hybrids & in selected G-Wagons.
      Hope that answers your question!

    Hi Nick, just watched this again as very useful. I have noticed when I play music or radio from my iPhone via bluetooth the Album images do not appear, just a generic image. When I use Applecar play they do appear. Is this a fault or can I change it so my music images on my phone appear on the screen? Hope this makes sense? Thanks Mark

      Hey Mark, no this is one of the features of Apple CarPlay :)
      Apple CarPlay is your phone on the screen, and your phone is the one showing those images.
      Playing music over Bluetooth just sends the audio away from the phone so it won’t show album artwork.

      @@npoleary Thanks again Nick. Thats a shame. With a number of other manufactures you get the image when using bluetooth.

    Hi Nick...really enjoy your videos. I have a question please. I’ve purchased a 2017 SL450 and am waiting for delivery. So the car is three years old. My question is will your tips and tricks pertain to my car? Thanks, Jim

      Hi James,
      Yes a few will work! 🤓
      Recirculation Button (might do just the windows)
      Deactivating KEYLESS-GO (even if it doesn’t have KEYLESS-GO, this double press will turn the key off)
      Favourite Menu (should be a button in the middle with a Star which will take you to this menu)
      HOLD Feature (yes it will have this one)
