I remember driving to Calgary with my Dad when I was a kid, and bought her first album and LOVED IT. Now I'm 26 and still throwback to all music, it never gets old
Her newer stuff sounds more mature, and with all the good moments, changes that occur in her life such as the wedding, pregnancy, giving birth to Rocket end everything makes me feel such feeling that I cannot explain well. But it's a positive feeling. I'm happy, proud, sad, and few other things that i do not know how to call.. super excited for the whole album. And also good luck for the next chapter of your life, Lights. We got your back :)

YOURE SO RIGHT! with her early music i was like 18/19 en her music suited me well, now that im 23 en more mature , her new music is suitable with this age, its like her music grows with me. im in love now hearing this song :D

Something beautiful to fill your heart
A growing artist cannot constantly sound the same because a true artist is constantly changing. With these new experiences and changes in life, there will be different sounds, lyrics, and levels of emotion. I'm not saying I don't love the very bright melodies of The Listening and was not taken aback by the noisy sounds of Siberia, but I have grown to love this ever-changing LIGHTS because I know that life is all about stages and changes. She's a true artist who writes her own stuff and has her very own, unique genre. A lot of other artists sell-out or start trying to cater to the demands of their audience thinking they need to make something sound more techno, pop-like, hip-hop like or whatever, but not LIGHTS. She follows her own path and I will always admire her for always being true to her music because she is true to herself. I have been excited for every one of her albums and concerts and my excitement for Little Machines is no different. I'm sure I will love it as always! YOUR FANS LOVE YOU LIGHTS! YOU'RE ALWAYS KEEPIN' IT REAL.

I really don't understand the hate on this song. It's so beautiful and deep. She's a growing artist and we can't expect her to sound the same always. This song is dark and slow, not upbeat and catchy. It doesn't mean it's not good. For me, it's a personal favourite and I find it so calming, I listen to it when I'm having an episode and it puts me at peace. It's the song I want to spin around to and close my eyes and pretend I'm in another dimension. I really do love it a lot.

Don't understand the people not liking this. It's a mixture of her slower songs and her acoustic songs, it's brilliant. People would grow tired of her making the same music again and again. She's doing something cool and different. That's progression. I'm just glad she's not stagnating.

So I got the CD for Christmas and we went to church and I asked my grandmom if we could play it and she fell in love with her!! And now every time we go anywhere we listen to her and I sing and its perfect!!!! I LOVE LIGHTS!!!!!!!!

When an artist has "TRUE" talents it's much easier to stomach change/growth. I discovered Lights as a 40 year old man and thought,"WOW,why can't all pop/electronic music be this good,catchy?" This is growth. And,it's one song. How does anyone know how the rest of the album will sound? I have a feeling I'm going to be a Lights fan for a long time to come. Bring it.

I saw Lights perform in Brighton, UK. As soon as this song came on, I levelled up on a spiritual level about 54 million times.
I was vividly remembering this song and browsed through my two CD of your music only to realize that this wasn't on your 2 first albums but stumbled on it next morning on TH-cam. After a little research I realized that I missed your following 2 albums ; Little Machines which I had heard online some years ago , and Skin & Earth which I have completely missed. I love you music and am wishing you the best darling -.-
LIGHTS is one of my original favorite vocalists. She is simply amazing, and brings me back to parts of my life that I will never forget!
The ambiance in the first 5 seconds of the song (you can barely hear it) sounds JUST like the first couple seconds of Toes. Love her continuity as an artist, while she still has flexibility and change. Bravo.

Ive been following lights from the beginning and as much as she changed i get emotional thinking about how much her music has touched my life and how amazing of a singer she has become the song absolutely warms my heart

I remember the first time I watched this music video. It was the height of summer, and I was on my very first trip to Europe. When I listen to this, everything goes quiet. It feels like waking up, it feels like being new. It feels like there is so much to look forward to.

Lights has really matured since The Listening(as in her sound and music videos). I'm a huge Lights fan and have been since I discovered her in 2011. However, I'm not sure if I like this song or Running With The Boys. The only one I liked a lot was Up We Go. I'm going to buy Little Machines once it comes out though and I'll be sure to give it a try. I'm sure the album will be just as good as The Listening and Siberia.
Also, you guys gotta understand she can't just have 3 full-length studio albums that sound like ''The Listening''. That was her very first album - people change. Plus, would you guys really want all her albums to sound pretty much the same? I know I wouldn't! Plus, we've only heard 3 songs from Little Machines so far, don't be so quick to judge.
On a higher note, right when I saw a post about Portal on Tumblr, I literally thought it was a Lana Del Rey music video, it just reminds me so much of her(which is a very good thing because Lana Del Rey is another favorite of mine). Love you, Lights! :~)

I think this is simply gorgeous. Sure, it's a different vibe than the electro-pop-rock vibe from Siberia. But it's super immersive and filled with a nervous, energetic undercurrent. Rather than giving you the massive release of a monster chorus, she makes you want it so much that you have to go out on your own, after the track ends, and create that release on your own. This track is pure artistry because it is challenging.
I just want to point out that LIGHTS was involved in music as a pre-teen, it isn't fair to call The Listening her first work what with the EP and a handful of demos (that we know about) between 2006-2008. Anybody who knew her music back then knows that even The Horror or Sleeping with a Ghost is different from The Listening, and so on. She evolves.
I feel like Little Machines and Midnight Machines were her golden albums, totally amazing and different, but I love her old and new stuff too.

I've been a die hard Lights fan since her very first EP was released.. Her sound was cute and all but listen.. She's a true artist, and artists grow and change. She can't stay the same Lights forever and have the same style all over again.. Musicians are supposed to change and evolve because that's what keeps them inspired and encouraged to continue writing and being who they are. I love Lights with whatever album she's released and I understand that she won't be The Listening forever because she is grown up and a mother now. If you are so upset, move on. It's not like we can stop her from releasing music

I've loved Lights since 2008 and I've loved her music. Yes, her sound has changed, but it always has been based around that electro sound. People grow up, things happen (having Rocket, getting married). She is a mom, she's more mature now than she was when she came out with The Listening. Her writing is still flawless and her album sounds are perfect. She can't release albums and have them all sound the same. I love every album she came out with so far. Siberia had to grow on me first, and now it's one of my favourite albums. I love everything she comes up with, because she does it in such a unique way. You have to accept things change. Now, I'm going to go to HMV and buy Little Machines.

This is literally exactly what I was hoping the new album would be like.
I remember first being drawn to Lights in 2009 through the quirky vocals and incredibly warm, spacey production, it was almost irresistible. I wasn't as much a fan of Siberia as I was The Listening, though it came close - the dirty, raw production I also really liked, and it had that interestingly quirky again, syllabic songwriting. Now here, it's as if The Listening's production was combined with something new. Some of my favourite things are soundscapes and atmosphere, and this song is atmospheric and soundscapey as fuck.
I'm also thoroughly digging the new vocal style, it's more confident and artsy, as if she's been experimenting heavily and is finding something new and wonderful she can do with her voice, which I heavily admire.
following LIGHTS as she has grown and matured as an artist has been an amazing experience and i love what i'm hearing from her. Little Machines is her best record yet - musically and lyrically. it has all the elements from her first two records that i loved but she has taken them and transformed them into something bigger and better and this record is definitely a level up.

Yeah I watched this video when she announced it on Twitter. My thoughts were "YASS this is happening so fast" and was taken aback by the slow tip toe sound with mysterious lyrics! Up We Go is something every artist needs though...I mean it was way different and it was a start to a new chapter. I love her new songs she has released from the album so far, and I particularly love these types of songs ^.^

She has been through different chapters in her life thus far; like having a baby, being married and experiencing other things.
