+Emanda Losvek The cure, human league, depeche mode, eurythmics, pet shop boys. I still think chvrches and a lot of other new bands are an evolution, but they at least have some roots and inspiration from brit synth pop.
Kerrigan M The Cure weren't synth pop. Human League, Depeche Mode and Eurythmics were making synth pop in the early to mid 1980's with Depeche Mode having a different sound based around guitars, generally dreary, slow and contemplative sounds by the end of the 1980's. Pet Shop Boys were late 1980's synth but were generally posturing at a much lower tempo with the occasional pick up but never to the pace of Chvrches,
You got it right about Chrvches being an evolution. I don't agree with you that their sound could be grouped into late 1980's synth pop although their are some links in that they have a personally empowered conviction, feel good factor that feels very genuine as if they personally worked hard to get that feeling rather than the record company manufacturing it which I think was fairly common in the 1980's unlike now.

I came back here five years later and this song still feels brand new. I can never get tired of it.

This song has an inexplicable way of making me feel happy somehow. Like that cliche hands out of the car window feel, or sitting on a bed of water, blue sky, with a breeze blowing through your hair and eyes closed.

Notch Jonson She definitely seems more confident onstage nowadays. At their early shows she seemed very "rabbit-in-headlights", understandable for many artists at the start of their careers. Nowadays she seems much more comfortable with everything.
I've been listening to chvrches for 3 years now and they are a truly gifted group! Laurens vocals are amazingly captivating! Never ending circles was what led me to keep wanting to hear everything they have made! Im wishing they come around the Midwest again soon! Keep up the awesome music!

Oh for sure. Back then, we didn't have to worry about pandemics, much less Trump. It's fair to say that looking back, even with the dysfunction back in those years, they were pretty much the Halcyon days compared to now.
There is alot of 80's/90's music that is all I live for but nothing has sparked my desire for music in 2000's like this band!

Well said, Cory Phillips. I'm way past millennial age and I'm baffled as to the music tastes of your gen. All that shit without a beat and pretty boys emoting so hard it sounds like they're straining with constipation. And whatever happened to guitars, drums, bands even, and people without ghetto names? I do my best to understand. I think Chvrches are great but they sure don't enjoy the success of the absolute garbage acts of today.
Since I heard a song from this band I can't get enough. I am utterly in love with Lauren. She's one of the most beautiful women in this planet. When I heard her voice for the first time, I had no doubts she was absolutely beautiful. Wasn't wrong. In love with her.

What I love this track - and I'm writing as I listen to it for the first-time - is the clean production and the hints of Lauren's accent in her singing voice. The lyrics are great, too.

Marc Rodrigues, is this your first listen to Chvrches? I got into them when their third album, Love is Dead, dropped and they're easily one of my new favorite bands. Death Stranding, Dead Air, and Warning Call are some of my favorite tracks of theirs that aren't on any of their albums. Also they just released a new song yesterday titled He Said, She said. If you haven't checked any of those out yet I highly recommend it.

It's so crazy that I don't typically listen to this kind of music but since finding Chvrches nearly 6 years ago now I have never stopped going back every few months and I'm so excited every time they release new stuff. One of my favorite bands due to their creativity.

This is the first song i heard by them on some random spotify playlist... and loved them... Was great to see them turn up at glasto as well...
My little girl and I dance to this every weekend. We free-form dance and count the time signature at the same time. It has helped her so much with her dance expression. We love it. Ty so much for this music video and track.

Her “a” sound is so relaxing compared to where I’m from. In Ohio all the old people say their “a” sound as twangy as possible like instead of “cat” it’s “kyeeat”, whereas Lauren would say something along the lines of “caht” and “cot”
So soothing for someone who grew up around all the twang, her accent is lovely. Chvrches wouldn’t be the same without her accent

It's pleasing how Lauren looks as delicate as her voice and the musical arrangement sounds, and the soft colors look. The haze in the video makes it seem surreal, as if she were in her internal place of safety and comfort, close to completely healing her emotional wounds. She looks vulnerable in a beautiful way. Coming to peace with herself, accepting things for what they were and preparing to finally close the chapter of a broken romance. That's what I visualize due to her tranquility during the storm that seems to cease as she softly dances in the water... and that guy behind the fog, it shows how distant he is from her, since she is leaving him behind. Barely visible within her.
I dont think its appropriate for Gods people to dress provocatively . So it leaves much to question. I pray she is healed.

Though this video is more or less minimalist compared to others, I still love it so much. And Lauren looks GORGEOUS in it, as always. I absolutely love the backdrop, too; I kinda wanna live in that foggy, dreamlike expanse. It's so pretty and serene.
