I'm not 100% certain, but I'm pretty sure the point is that Lights has always had an unmistakable independence and she's had a passion for a strong female presence. This is either referencing the nostalgia of being with her friends and keeping up with the boys or "running with the boys" could just be referencing running with her friends. Doesn't mean literally running with boys. Knowing how smart Lights is, the video is an awesome declaration of those childlike memories with her friends. Either way, I really enjoy it. I don't know I that clears anything up for people who find t strange that there's no boys in here. Definitely don't find it being an accident. :)
When i first heard this song, i envisioned her and her girls running with the boys down an awesome beach and adventuring through a nearby forest. Everyone was just doing there own thing, being young and dumb, enjoying the sun. This video is still cool though - different idea of equality i guess.
to me this song has never been about literally "running with the boys" but being able to stand alongside boys, and feel equal in worth to boys again! I think it's about how when we're young we don't have a concept of sexism or inferiority and we feel confident and just as worthy as boys, and trying to regain that feeling again when you're older

Her music has always been amazing I LOVE LIGHTS she's my idol I love what she does and who she is, simply AMAZING AS FUCK!
I "discovered" Lights last year thanks to Pandora. Fascinated by her music. I was always a fan of bands like Collective Soul and Blue October, never anything electro-poppy at all. Until Chvrches, and now Lights. What I love about music is how she can use the same lyrics, and by arrangement have a totally different sound, tone and to me, meaning. This version versus the Midnight Machines track are 2 diff songs. Love the differences and how they are perfect for different moods. She needs way more airplay on radio. How can you not like her voice, her melodies, her songs?

I was lucky enough to win tickets on the radio to see Tegan and Sarah live where light's opened for them, and ( I love T&S ) but I didn't know who they were very well when I went to their concert. I wanted to go for lights. So I did! During intermission I was literally 5 ft away from lights, and was so sad that I didn't get to have my picture taken with her / meet her. ( She had the awesome silver/ really light blonde hair then. ) But lights, i'm seriously so proud of you and all your accomplishments, and little Rocket is absolutely adorable.
