    Spyderco drill bits are the best. It’s like $35 for a set of everything but the 1/2 inch. They drill stainless super easy and are just amazing. By far the best value drill bits I’ve found.

    I recommend the spider tool bit grippers. They are amazing to stick on any drill or impact to keep your belt clip on

      Those things do seem pretty cool. I’ve thought about trying something like that before. It would be nice to have a few different bits right there on the drill.

    Your vernacular resonates with me, don’t let anybody tell you different. Great little Protorq tool roll, however, they seem to be out of production, damn! Small parts/tool organization is a can of worms to be sure. The struggle is real. Used to be, I couldn’t find a decent right angle driver to save my ass until I found the Dewalt. It has handled torque that would have destroyed lesser contenders. The small bits are easier to remove if you push on the back of the tool with a Phillips bit that fits the recess made for it.

      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I’m glad the language doesn’t bother you 😂. Yea I think the protorq is discontinued. It’s too bad because it is a great set. Dang I didn’t know about the Philips head thing. Thanks!

    Thanks for the shoutout 👍
    I keep the Klein 14-1 and Makita Sockets in every bag I have. I’m going to look into the Dewalt Magnetic driver you had.
    I just recently switched to the Dewalt Bit holders (DWA3HLDFT) from a friends recommendation. I like them because they are still slim but the bit locks in place and releases when you pull back on it.
    I used to always use Milwaukee ones (Different than yours) that locked the bit too, but they had a big head on them.
    Great Video as always… Love seeing some tools!

      Thanks! They sell those dewalt magnetic but holders at Home Depot I think. They really hold the screw on there solid. I like them for hanging cabinets and stuff like that because I can hold them up with one hand and drive the screw in with the other hand and not worry about the screw coming off.

      @Morgan, if you get the chance, try out the Bosch brushless Flexiclick. I prefer that over the Milwaukee mainly for its form factor.

      @@ProxyFinal I had the brushed version and really prefer the heads on it over the Milwaukee… it just didn’t have enough ummmph to be my daily driver… it worked for most things, but not for just enough things that I had to make sure and carry an impact with me.
      I have heard the brushless is better… if I catch a deal one day I may. I still run Bosch 12v batteries for my planer and laser levels.

    FYI, that little black hole on the back of the DeWalt right angle adapter is how you release small bits from it. Stick a little pick in there with a bit in it and see what I mean.

    Man I am a little late to the party, hope this can still maybe help. As someone who has purchased a lot of drill bits for metal my recommendation is if you buy cobalt make sure you get m35 for a handheld drill, they are more forgiving than m42 if you get any side pressure they snap easy. TTP are some of the best cobalt bits around, short of some of the super hardened stainless steel they will have no problem. If you are looking for decent bits at a fair price drill hog has some pretty good ones all with a lifetime warranty! Other great brands that come to mind are Walter, century, and champion. As you probably know, run most bits at a lower speed (hss, black oxide, gold oxide) but if you have cobalt bring the speed up. They are designed for it. Super awesome videos, I love watching someone who enjoys tools like myself!

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yea I am still getting used to the cobalt drill bits. They don’t act like the drill bits I’ve always used. I’ve snapped a few. They do work well. Some day I’m going to invest in a set of really nice drill bits like the ones you mentioned. Thanks a lot man! I’m glad you are enjoying the videos.

    Cool. You might want to consider an electric ratchet with 1/4" hex adapter. I've been using my m12 3/8 drive regular and long neck ratchets with 1/4 bits mainly for cabinet installs. I originally bought them for automotive work but using the bits takes them to another level. Also, those long thin shank bits are super useful as you mentioned (I just used one to open my DVOM when no other bits would fit in the holes).

    I bent that biggest milwaukee drill bit from that same case doing holes in metal plate stock. My drill was practically breaking my wrist too. Put the bit back big ole bend in it, for some reason I didn't want to throw it away, not sure why. I guess I figured if I need to do wood I can do wood with a bent large bit in the future. Probably be in good shape to make an even wider hole.

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I get not wanting to throw it away lol. I’ve got plenty of drill bits that I keep just in case I need a sacrificial one. I’m surprised it bent instead of just breaking if you were drilling in some thick metal. I’ve broken tons of drill bits that way.

  • @ptstouring49
    @ptstouring49 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Nice collection. I dislike bits, or rather I prefer regular screwdrivers, except if I am doing deck screws or drywall or something. Can’t say I notice that much difference on impact between say bosch and Milwaukee impact bits, but for hand turning bits, the expensive ones are so vastly superior to cheap ones I am very surprised. Wera, especially the diamond ones, and PB Swiss are fantastic. I have been carrying around a PB 6464 recently rather than my channellock 6 in 1. As far as drill bits the bosch ones project farm found best I like (I still break the little ones and drop cheap HF gold color ones in their place when I do).

    • @realworldtoolreviews
      @realworldtoolreviews  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea there’s no way around breaking small drill bits I don’t think. And I definitely like regular screwdrivers over bit drivers when it is convenient. I will say that malco handle with a 4 inch screwdriver bit is really close to the feel of a real screwdriver.

    Milwaukee is the worse at bit storage. Big cases with little bit of bits. I still have my old kobalt case that I restock with good bits because it seems to be the best organized I can find. Tool makers just can't make a good bit set.

    I feel your pain on the bit holder. We use Apex ones at work, this is a production environment aka go fast for fast maximize profits, then you get in the groove and where did the bit go?
    As for twist drills, my pride and joy are my Norseman ones. USA-made since that's important to ya by the way, but seriously they're great, and just regular HSS without some funny secret herbs and spices alloys or coatings so they're easy to resharpen. On top of that, just feeds and speeds, a bit of trigger control as needed and a few drops of Rapid Tap as necessary and I'm gravy, heat is what kills drill bits more than anything and it gets worse on stainless where it can work harden. My experience with cobalts is they aren't much better than HSS anyway (which already has a HRC rating in the mid 60s for hardness) but come with a lot more brittleness.
