Been waiting to get into one of this for quite some time.
I was very excited to get an opportunity to test drive it despite indicating that I will not be buying at the time.
Golden Era (Haval/GWM) Pretoria has fine employees. Its the second time I am treated with so much warmth there.
Otherwise, this vehicle is likely going to disrupt the market, that's if GWM can manage to convince the buyers as I am convinced right now. Sometimes you can have a good product but you still have a long way to convince those who don't trust your brand.
I hope this will be a turnaround story for GWM as they worked hard with the Haval Brand, I belive they can do that with the GWM Brand in South Africa.

That is very true. Its a long shot for GWM to tap into such a highly competitive market in SA and this country is so brand loyal. Otherwise, I believe over time the narrative would change, especially looking at how much you have to fork out to pay for similarly specced variants from the usual.

They will be convincing alot of people to move from the other brands, it convinced me as soon as I drove it and also a few people I know, gearbox makes light work of the engine, a bigger engine and I think the other makes will be petrified, and even if not they have to pay attention to this car as it will be taking some market share

Just some help. I have the LS and i cant seem to find android auto even after plugging in my device. There is only apple car play. Im not really sure why because i recall all models having apple carplay and android auto.
Hi, my understanding is that P-Series came prior to the systems being configures for Android Auto. Which means you only get Apple Car Play. I stand to be corrected though🤔
Thats really sad. Because even the car dealer was under the impression that these models came with android auto

Not bad, Ranging between 8.5-11L depending on your drive
Varies depending on speed, below 120 it s around 6litres/ 100km ,over 120 km it drinks like diesel is going out of fashion .I drove it for over 7000 km in Namibia ,it was such bliss❤❤❤

I did not check on test drive as I did not have much time to check accuracy, but of the reported 9.4litres per 100km I would think around 11litres if you put your foot down and less than reported if you drive it between 100-120km/h
Hi guys. The bakkie looks nice and you get a lot of extras, but I'm a bit worried about that small 2l turbo engine?
@@gpj6321 I have to say, it does not feel like a typical 2litr in the Amarok but it has enough grant to do just about anything with ease, except if you are looking for some sort of "performance" bakkie. This days the size of the engine has really proved not to be the biggest factor in taking out the power actually. Think about the old 3.2ltr Ford Ranger and the new 2litr one, still doing a great job and as enviromentalists would say: its good for the environment.🙂
some people in Australia have got around 900km's per tank but i reckon on the freeway you could get 1000

Well, only time will tell. As far as I can tell, GWM has a long way to convince the masses, however, this product feels very solid to the hand, even the quality of materials. Mechanical durability can only be proven with time.
I think that purpose is reserved for the Steed, I honestly don't think top of their priority was bundu bashing and farmlife labour...not with an interior like that.
@@qoako9695 I think as much as they marketing it as tough they knew what the market wants. People are buying double cabs for the practicality, one can even choose between SUV and Double Cab and not have both because its becoming a lifestyle vehicle than commercial. Which explains why GWM has commercial and passenger variants. If you look at commercial you will see its not like this inside. Its made simple as its commercially focused.
Not all customers stays on the farm or want to test its durability on the farm
