- BIG Bertha in the house...Lol. Shout out to Fast Track Hobbies in Rocklin, CA for getting me sorted with this newest 8s in the fleet. While no stranger to the X-Maxx, this is my first. She's a bit clumsy compared to my ARRMA's, but that's fine. Definitely a FUN basher!!! Wanted a different handling rig with a durable reputation to mix up the fleet. Looking forward to swapping ESC's and getting her tuned and dialed.

Well...I knew I'd find her a bit clumsy in the handling department, but that's also part of the fun factor to be honest 😂. Definitely had Mad FUN tossing this Green Bertha around 😍. Clearly extremely durable with loads of potential. Looking forward to installing a better ESC, stronger servo, and getting the dampening sorted. Thanks to Kevin T and several others for the suggestions and advice. 🍻🚀🚀
This is probably a dumb question but I always hear people say to get a Max 5 or Max 6 ESC as the first thing on these Traxxas trucks even with stock motor but I don’t understand why? I haven’t had any problems with any of my VXL esc’s. Just looking for an explanation. Defiantly excited about your series of upgrades on this as this is my favorite trucks since I only have 6S arrma’s at the moment.
@@andrewnielsen4890 Vxl's are just unreliable mate. I've had one crap out on me but before they do they do all sorts of weird stuff. My mate had one for like 2 years and it was fine so not all of them are bad but I'd say most. Plus you can't program them. Soon as I put a max6 in mine it just drive so much better and smoother, less cogging and because they're programmable you can set the brakes so they don't front flip all the time. I only went from a max6 to a max5 because I still had thermal shut off issues but since the max5 it's never done that or let me down in any other way. Sorry for rambling dude! Hope you got all that 🤭
@@andrewnielsen4890 maybe there's quality control issues with the stock ESC's 🤔. I've heard both good and bad. My VXL Slash ESC overheated super easily. Temps were fine with this one, but there was definite lag on occasion with intermittent glitching 😝. Hobbywings are super smooth and highly adjustable with nice built in protections. Great power delivery too.

Very stoked that you got one! I’ll be watching the mod path you take, and I’m sure I’ll duplicate some of it with mine. A lot of TH-camrs have these, but not the driver mod that you have, so this will be an exciting series to watch!

That's some fantastic plastic! I totally respect that (a) this is a different kind of monster truck than what Arrma offers and (b) that you (and maybe you alone) can actually make this jump and land on its feet! If this weren't so expensive, I'd totally get one, because it seems like a fun cross between a basher (e.g. an Arrma or MT410) and a scale monster truck (e.g., the LMT) in terms of handling and looks.
Wow Man, that front roly-poly side double flip was pretty nerve racking, nice fun looking session there! It's funny watching the xmaxx I didn't realise how narrow the stance is. Looking forward to seeing where this leads, enjoy Bro!
I'm so happy to see you got one of these! I don't own one or an Arrma but I prefer it because it truly looks and handles like a monster truck. Anxious to see what M2C upgrades come from this!

Awesome Rich 👍. I’ve had mine a little over a year now with some modding along the way. Absolutely love it. The driving experience is definitely more on the monster truck feel but that’s what makes her so much fun to drive. Look forward to what all you do with her.

So so happy you have now got an xmaxx on the channel, will be great to see what way you go with it in upgrades. I’m super happy also that M2c are finely going to make upgrades as well. I’ve already done the must have mods on my xmaxx, but can’t wait to see what mich brings to the table 👍🏻

You’ll love the HD arms. I also put in the HD shock rods and rear oversized RPM hubs for higher bearings. Other then that have fun!! Can’t wait to see what m2c is gonna bring out for the xmaxx!! Thanks for a fun video!!

Got to be some of the best throttle control I have seen with this truck with the stock electronics💪🔥 If I did not know the size of this truck I would have thought it was a 10th scale with how great the control was at the skate park. Great bash brother👊👊🤘🤘💪

Sweet run Rich - sounded like that centre driveshaft has bent already lol Im more an Arrma guy but so enjoy my xmaxx. Im hoping Mitch @ M2C racing will be developing shock shafts - ive bent a fair few and as you said, they are butter soft. Oversize hubs/inner bearings are one of the best upgrades for this rig as i used to blow the stock inners out all the time. Good to see u diversify bro

LOL That's so cool you are diversifying , I have a bunch of Arrma rigs but have had my Xmaxx for 4 years now , and as I don't bash as hard as you , it still has it's orig servo / drivetrain / and even the tires !!!! Early this year my ESC starting glitching harder , so wanting to up grade my K8S to bigger / better electronics removed and installed into the Xmaxx . With the 23t pinion / stock 54t spur it hits 50mph . Awesome balance of power and I didn't have to drop any $$$ , just for the motor mount . I will be watching what you are doing with this truck !!!

You gotta love the XMAXX, it's just such a massive monster truck. But, you said it right, it is clumsy compared to those LOW and WIDE Arrmas. I own both arrma's and traxxas, no one truck could replace another, as they all do well in different areas. Looking forward to seeing what all you can do with it. Great bash Man!!!

Nice to see you getting into traxxas. When you Stick hobby wing combo make sure you strap the tyres or they will die ! Rpm rear hubs are a must too and hinge pins

Not gonna lie, got excited when I read the title. Been waiting to see if you'd review an xMaxx. A an owner is a great rig stock. I changed my esc to MMX8S. Once you change to your fav esc it's reaction/power improves. Great video Rich 👍🏾 Can't wait to see where you go with this rig.

The KING of the Skatepark ripped it up with Big Bertha!! She was Bumblin, stumblin all over the place Lol 😆😆😆 You were still nailing most of your transitions and those flail launches out of the Bowl were Nuts!! Landed on her feet like a cat. Clearing the GAP on the pipe was just so smooth!! I didn't think Maxx would pull it but Hey it's You at the wheel!! Can't wait for you to put in that M2C motor mount/brace and New Electrics. The absolute butter smooth strut of the big girl herself on a maiden run in the sickest park going big and whipping that thing along the coping silk like transitions(with maybe 2 exceptions) just insanely technical but butter smooth as well,,you just never cease to amaze me brother. Very tempting to get one but still need an outcast exb 1/5 in my life so unfortunately the good old xmaxx will have to wait. There was a time a almost pulled the trigger on an xmaxx. Had it on the counter n everything. Ultimately went with my 1st arrma a v3 kraton. I have always thought they looked fun n took quite alot of abuse. It's cool mitch is expanding more n more. Maybe he should get Kevin T on board as a tester on the xmaxx end. Definitely cool to see one in a skate park your lines are so fluent i find myself spellbound by it. I look forward to seeing what you do to it and how much it can take. Awesome bash rich, Xmaxx is so easy to work on and parts are so cheap, just keep it light weight and it will be very reliable. When you start adding aluminum and big motors and heavy tires you decrease the reliability of the truck

What's up bro love the video as usual. Every time I drive this truck it puts a smile on my face. Not saying I don't love my Arrma trucks, but the xmaxx is just different. It can take some extreme torture but stock esc sucks. I replaced mine with a max 5 and what a difference. Theax 6 also worked well. I can't wait until m2c releases their parts for the xmaxx. May cancel the order, but got left in limbo unfortunately. Might fab a mount temporarily and try out a Leopard BL5 200A (rebranded Max5) I picked up for 169$ from RCJuice. 😎💪👊👊
@@richduperbash2966 yeah bro definitely try that leo. My stock esc kept cutting out every time I would accelerate fast, let of and hit it again. Once I changed it out it became one of my favorite trucks.
Hi, I'm new to the channel and I've sub'd, I must say you have some great control skills while in the air. The flow was so smooth. I just obtained my first Xmaxx and I am loving it. I've done so many upgrades and now it's time to let her rip. That M2C engine mount and brace is on point! I have it with my HW 800kv and Max 5 mounted on top, looks pretty slick. I've also got the 2 piece driveshaft with the center support bearing and M2C's center chassis brace underneath. The maxx wide kit looks pretty trick and does help with the stance. My issue is I'm trying to basically have a mini hobby store in my shop so when something breaks, I'm ready. Just like you were with your shock. Great video, will be checking out more of what you have to offer. 🍻

Great Vid Rich; love my Xmaxx with RPM arms(you need to modify the fronts, but it's easy). Also have the Max 6 with stock motor but looking forward to the M2C motor mount for further motor options.
Thanks so much Howard 🤗. Gonna go with the Traxxas HD arms for now, but bought the RPM axel carriers and pins. My Max6 got lost in transit with Amazon 😱😂. I'm gonna try the Firma 160A I have on hand for now. Atleast she fits nicely. RPM rear hub carriers and 50Wt shock oil and it's a solid basher for the mediocre amongst us. Really surprised that a stock arm broke like that... Might need a soak in WD-40 as they are quite flexxy.
The RPM arms are too flexable and need their threaded hinge pins to hold them together on the harder landings. other than that they are a great bash rig.
Hope M2C does some epic upgrades for this iconic truck!

Never seen a X-maxx piston brake like that hope its a one off🙆🏽♂️, recently we have been experiencing tha driveshafts having poor metal just flaking apart like a spritzel, hope it's just temporary...
50wt front and 40wt rear with Traxxas next hardest #7857 or hardest springs #7858 paired with a quality 35kg++ brushless servo with the hard servosaver spring and it will be a completly differen animal! SO STOKED😂🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽😍.
For the center drive shaft bending, go watch thunder rc's video: how to make your Xmaxx industruckable. He calls it the wobble shaft. I think it's better than other drive shaft upgrades. I literally just did mine yesterday cuz I just got an Xmaxx recently.

Thr Green Bertha looked good brother Rich🥰🥰. Shock shafts, only need the traxxas trinitrate or whats they called..i broke 4 stock befote i put thwm ln, never broke a single since. Pistonwise, when people aim to much pack they can brake, did 1nce🥰.
When ya setup are dialed in, it will be a favorite car..its impossible not to love the xmaxx, nothing like it today.❤

The truck definitely needs the driveshaft mod, it’s basically free but helps a lot with big landings Can’t wait to see what you do with it… my kraton is definitely more fun now that I’ve “duperbashed” it. Looking forward to doing it with tbe xmaxx.

Since you like more power go with the Max 5 I think you said you already ordered that stuff in your vid. So yeah it's going to be a whole new truck when you get stuff in there. Check out thunder RC. My upgraded Xmaxx trucks are right there next to my Outcast 8s and EXB K8S that have lots of M2C stuff in them. My X-Maxx has RPM hinge pins, DuraTrax lockup x tires, 24mm lug nuts, front hubs with bigger inner bearings from Traxxas, upgraded Traxxas servo, HD arms all around, aluminum differential cases in the front and rear diffs (the one used in the center differential), aluminum diff covers, a shim in front of the output drives (in both the front and rear diffs), WFO drive cup sleeves, WFO ESC plate and receiver box, WFO motor mount, WFO DBORE mod 1.5 gears (25/35 gearing, speed is 56mph on dirt/grass), Max 5 with QS8 connectors, 1100KV 5687 motor. So yeah it's a BEAST. Double and triple backflips like nothing 🤣👍. Good run, but stock is just not enough for me.Oh yeah I have one of those split center driveshaft. No more bending. Funny because I bothered M2C a couple of months ago ago about upgrades for the Xmaxx. The stock driveshafts bend easily with time. I also just installed a roll cage to protect the body and to prevent it from flying away during crashes. I also run a Russian body.

😃 How about a M2C chassis, front & rear bulkheads for the X-maxx?
With everything else upgraded (made stonger but heavier like the esc, motor, mod 1.5 gears, proline badlands or belted wheels, body & alloy hub upgrades) they become the only weak link.
Stronger diff gears would be also be a great idea because they aren't available. I know so many people are destroying crown/ring gears & pinion/input gears just by putting proline or belted tyres (throttle control would help them but stronger gears would be a better solution).

Thanks Brother 🤗. I've only done 2 consecutive loops with my Granite 3s. It's extremely difficult to get the right pace and throttle correction. Don't want to jump too far or too short. Breakages are just part of the hobby. Gotta carry spares or make that drive to the LHS 😂🚀🚀
