The fight was awesome! I hooked into him about 30 yards out and and it swam all the way up to where i was at and then i turned his head straight into the net. It was awesome! Looking forward to going out again this evening. I will send pics. Bobber down!
Agreed! I've tied it like that a few times too, and every time I do it, I'm like "why don't I just always tie it like this" 😂 I've just become so accustomed to tying my main line to a swivel. Thank you for the advice, I love learning from you guys 🎣 Fish onn!!

Your comment about swivels is so true. My first choice is Sampo and second is Spro. Check at Spro’s #8 swivel rated at 50lbs. Micro in size. Pretty good rotation. If I am truly avoiding line twist then hands down it is Sampo. They are not cheap but they are the best. Nice vid. Thank you

Thanks man! Glad that the video is helping folks out. The quick hookset really helped me out. Others have said to let them munch on it for longer, but I’ve experimented with just not setting the hook to see what happens. 90% of the time the bobber comes back up after less than a second and never goes down again. So really, you’ve got that one shot to make it count. Good luck man 👍 I’m gonna try and get out today. Haven’t bobber & egg fished in too long!

Hell yeah bro idk if you did it already but I’ll try to find it. I bought a marathon sentinel for 25$ and a 20 dollar eagle claw tackle kit. Idk what swivels are how to use them and when to use them. I would like to get taught how to set up rigs and when to use them and why’s it a good rig. Bobbers I don’t know how to tie them or set them up or weights

B G I just want more info on the basics hooks, swivels, line type and all that I live in Fresno county California. I didn’t say I would target salmon on my first attempt I just want to get the basics down casting, reeling , setups. NW fishing secrets has valuable information on salmon but i won’t try to get that anytime soon. I’m a newbie. Maybe later in life I could get a prized salmon but for now I just want to get confident and knowledgeable with all fishing related.

Hey I don’t know if you’ll see this right now, but I personally have had awesome days on the green river with hot pink boraxo fire for coho. The boarx in the cure helps ur eggs from getting dried out when you leave them out for a amount of time

A friend of mine that has fished with that set up for years got me into it using a center pin rod and reel set up for trout and salmon fishing a few years ago and ever since I tried it I liked it that's how I got started out using the center pin rod and reel set up for trout and salmon

They are ive been fishing all week. Caught 1 but had quite a few hooked. They’re hard to keep on sometimes. I had one slip back into the water on me after it spit the hook on the bank. I tackled it lmao but it slipped out.

Hi man, Me and my friend Chris ( who helped u with the camera) were at the log when u got that king out. Couple days after the video was posted, that spot was FULL with people fishing on eggs. We have been fishing there for awhile and never see so many people drifting there. Great videos man, keep it up!

I was glad I got there at 5:30am, so I got the far rock, but it definitely was a good reminder not to share spots or river names! Luckily everyone was friendly and we had a great time! @@NWFishingSecrets I started out on this River with a Dicknight on one rod & floating a jig on the other, I didn't get any action on the jig, but the fish chased that Dicknight to the bank almost every cast. I'm hoping the Bluefox will trigger a strike. Maybe tomorrow morning, if I get up on time.

It's worth it for sure. I wish Washington emphasized sport fishing more and cut back on commercial fishing. We already have some of the best fishing in the lower 48, but it could be so much better! So me and my fishing buddy have recently taking river fishing back up neither of us have done much river fishing since we were kids we’ve been fishing primarily on the Skykomish and the Snohomish rivers would you please make some videos for beginners? Like where is good place to fish on the river what’s the best gear I really got a lot out of your drift fishing video please more information like that I would really like to become an expert LOL but I will need help from people like you I love your Videos please keep them up and once again the basics or what I need as far as gear technique especially how to set up my rig for the different types of fishing will you do very good at explaining even a little more would be nice thank you so much cheers! You are so welcome! I truly enjoy making and sharing the videos... While I started a "no river names" policy, I can tell you this - the technique in this video will work on all rivers that have salmon in them. What I would do in your case, is grab one of the sportfishing pamphlets, sit down with google maps open, and just start cross referencing nearby rivers to see if they have salmon seasons open. Find one that does, look for good spots on Google maps, and off you go! That's what I do, and it is the most rewarding fishing ever. Let me know how it goes, and stay tuned for more Washington fishing! 🎣

Just a tip... You don't need another swivel above you're inline weight... Just attatch your mainline to the inline and use it as your swivel👌

Hey I don’t know if you’ll see this right now, but I personally have had awesome days on the green river with hot pink boraxo fire for coho. The boarx in the cure helps ur eggs from getting dried out when you leave them out for a amount of time

A friend of mine that has fished with that set up for years got me into it using a center pin rod and reel set up for trout and salmon fishing a few years ago and ever since I tried it I liked it that's how I got started out using the center pin rod and reel set up for trout and salmon

Love these videos! I fish out in the Midwest so most of our catches are Walleye, Perch, and Bluegill. These salmon look like a blast to catch!
They are ive been fishing all week. Caught 1 but had quite a few hooked. They’re hard to keep on sometimes. I had one slip back into the water on me after it spit the hook on the bank. I tackled it lmao but it slipped out.

I bought a bait caster reel a few months ago, haven’t figured out how to set it up without bird nesting the whole thing every cast...can u do a video on how to set those things up??
I think you just need to tighten the brake on it
@Next Door Darts just use your thumb. I don't use breaks and barely use spool tension and I don't bird nest. Its all about the thumb.

Me and my friend Chris ( who helped u with the camera) were at the log when u got that king out. Couple days after the video was posted, that spot was FULL with people fishing on eggs. We have been fishing there for awhile and never see so many people drifting there. Great videos man, keep it up!
Chris!!! Dude, thank you so much for helping that day. I was there the following morning and 9 people showed up. I was glad I got there at 5:30am, so I got the far rock, but it definitely was a good reminder not to share spots or river names! Luckily everyone was friendly and we had a great time! @@NWFishingSecrets I started out on this River with a Dicknight on one rod & floating a jig on the other, I didn't get any action on the jig, but the fish chased that Dicknight to the bank almost every cast. I'm hoping the Bluefox will trigger a strike. Maybe tomorrow morning, if I get up on time.

It's worth it for sure. I wish Washington emphasized sport fishing more and cut back on commercial fishing. We already have some of the best fishing in the lower 48, but it could be so much better! Have you ever thought about throwing floral carbon as your leader vs mono? Due to the low vis and has a faster sink rate?
Good point! Not worried at all about visibility, as salmon are not very line shy. Steelhead might be a different story... However the faster sink rate might be worth it... Will give it a shot! I love learning from you guys! Thank you!

So me and my fishing buddy have recently taking river fishing back up neither of us have done much river fishing since we were kids we’ve been fishing primarily on the Skykomish and the Snohomish rivers would you please make some videos for beginners? Like where is good place to fish on the river what’s the best gear I really got a lot out of your drift fishing video please more information like that I would really like to become an expert LOL but I will need help from people like you I love your Videos please keep them up and once again the basics or what I need as far as gear technique especially how to set up my rig for the different types of fishing will you do very good at explaining even a little more would be nice thank you so much cheers! You are so welcome! I truly enjoy making and sharing the videos... While I started a "no river names" policy, I can tell you this - the technique in this video will work on all rivers that have salmon in them. What I would do in your case, is grab one of the sportfishing pamphlets, sit down with google maps open, and just start cross referencing nearby rivers to see if they have salmon seasons open. Find one that does, look for good spots on Google maps, and off you go! That's what I do, and it is the most rewarding fishing ever. Let me know how it goes, and stay tuned for more Washington fishing! 🎣
