    Thanks for the review... I'm still on the fence on what to do, because I feel like a pinch to zoom feature is a must, but overall is a good monitor and I love the Enhanced improvements. I can't believe other cheaper monitors have pinch to zoom but this one doesn't.

    How is the latency in comparison to the original m1? Does it still have that 2 frame delay? Amazing content by the way! Just subbed.

      @Isaac_Insoll  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I didn’t do scientific testing on the M1 enhanced but it absolutely felt the same as the original M1, which means it’s noticeable compared to a SmallHD but after using it for 1 min you get used to it and don’t notice it.

    That locking DC barrel is enough of a reason to get the Enhanced over the Standard model. If you're rigging it out on your camera and powering it with a V-lock, you want that assurance that you're not going to snap the connector or accidentally disconnect it whilst on the job.

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      100% agreed. And it’s even more of an improvement because of how bad the old connection was. Like I have other non-locking barrel connectors that felt better than it

    Great job! How do you feel about the LCD of the Enhanced monitor? I recently had a chance to compare the original M1 and M1 enhanced and I thought the new LCD’s contrast was terrible.

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know for sure that they are technically identical, but I absolutely didn't notice any different in contrast ratio between new M1 Enhanced and old M1.
      That feels like something I would definitely notice as I care much more about "image quality" than I do the monitoring tools or anything like that.

    Hi Isaac, thanks for the great review.
    Watching the reviews of the first gen, There was an issue with input latency which was between 40 and 60 ms. Has this been fixed in the enhanced version?
    I was also looking at the Portkeys LH5P II, which one would you recommend?

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I haven’t used the portkeys so I can’t actually honestly compare them. The M1 enhanced still has the latency, which to me “disappears” after a minute of using it each time as your eyes “adjust”. I’d prefer it not have latency but don’t care that much.

    • @kunterbuntfilm
      @kunterbuntfilm 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      @@Isaac_Insoll Well, for manually focusing this latency is pretty bad and I find it disappointing that this most criticised point about the original version still being an issue has not been mentioned in your video. Feels very biased because everything apart from the flip button and the locking connectors is only software and would be unfair if it was not added to the original one.

    Hi, I just bought the MARS M1 enhanced monitor but don't want to mount it to my CAMERA. So, I'd like to pair it to one of my old Hollyland mars 300 pro TRANSMITTER (which I'd mount on top of the camera). Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    how would you compare this monitor to the new atomos ninja os11 for strictly monitoring.

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I don’t have an atomos ninja but I presume it’s similar image quality to the shinobi. Compared to the shinobi I like this slightly more but they aren’t that different, so I’d consider this a ‘shinobi plus wireless features’ rather than a ‘much better image than a shinobi’ if that makes sense

    How is the fan noise?

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I personally haven't noticed at all.
      I think if I was a "professional reviewer in a perfect studio" then I might comment on sound because it's in an otherwise silent room, but whereever I shoot (gym, park, corporate offices) the "background noise" is louder than the monitor noise so I never notice it.
      I'm sure if I hold the monitor close to a mic and compare it to a SmallHD with no fans you would realise that, yes, indeed it does make noise.... but as somebody actually shooting stuff... I've literally never even noticed the noise, let alone found it to be a problem

  • @kevinmpham

    Can you do anamorphic desqueeze + crop and scan? So that you can monitor a 2.40:1 image?

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  11 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I presume you’re wanting to shoot with a 1.6 X and amorphic lens on a 16:9 sensor.
      You can use the anamorphic tools as well as the frame guides to chop off the extra wide edges, but I couldn’t find a way to zoom the image to fill the monitor. This is definitely one of the advantages of the SmallHD monitors.

    How is the Focus Peaking and False Color? I really need perfect tools in that regard, to work as an DP and AC

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      i don't ever use focus peaking as I find it distracts me from the composition and everything else. So it definitely has focus peaking but I can't really tell you if it's "good" or not. If you have a specific question about something I can check for you.

      @bmefilms6879 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

  • @iamkubrick
    @iamkubrick 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

    I purchased the original - it’s terrible. The SDI lag when used as a monitor connected via cable is half a second - that’s completely unusable for professional shoots. I fell for a lot of TH-cam reviews that failed to somehow mention this?

    • @Isaac_Insoll
      @Isaac_Insoll  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      There is absolutely some lag. I mentioned it in the original review. It feels like it’s a frame or two behind, nowhere near half a second. If it’s actually half a second when directly connected to SDI then I’d suggest yours may be faulty.
      Have you plugged the SDI from you camera into another monitor just to confirm there is no lag on the output from the camera?

    • @iamkubrick
      @iamkubrick 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@Isaac_Insoll did everything- I actually had two - both had the same unusable SDI delay - HDMI is fine - I sold one , keeping the other as a reminder not to buy cheap stuff like.l Hollyland and too only buy once, buy right. I actually contacted them about it - they said a firmware update was coming - never did. Then they released this one and customer support said the Enhanced version didn’t change the SDI lag, then in a video it showed that it had. So I sent them the video and they said “ oh actually it has fixed it “ the y released an unfinished product - Don’t like them, don’t trust them.
