Changeling was a better prof than Chuck. And the X-men were definitely more bad ass when chuck was off in space. I’m not sure the X-men would have sacrificed themselves during Fall of the Mutants if Chuck was holding them back, which would have led to the end of the world. Of course Chuck being in space in the 80s probably led to Mr. Sinister and Apocalypse making bold moves after decades of being behind the scenes. Sooo...
