    What an excellent trip. Just slid over here from KWW , and this was great. A-rod trying to stone a squid; gimme a break. Subscribed ; glad to be here. Can almost taste the masa. You can thank YT for sending me this - it was quite a surprise. Excellent. Must find part II.

    Haha I love stuffing me some squid tubes. Last time we were way offshore in the gulf we had some big ones in the lights under the boat. I rigged up a little homemade squid jig and we caught a dozen that were 2 to 3' with the tentacles. We took one in to the salon cleaned and fried it up and it was like Crack. I stuffed some the next night with itainansausage and bread crumbs baked them in some home made marinara sauce with a little parm and it was through the roof. The rest were used as sword baits. Owner loved them so much he ordered a bunch of squid jigs and makes it a point on all the overnight trips now to try to jig up some squid. They have caught some monsters.

A little laugh for you, I thought the can of oil was Yuengling beer and boy was it thick! 😂😂😂 It took a few more seconds for me to focus on the can to see Avocado oil, doh! Yes, that was with my glasses, lol. Of course that led to a question...Will, what does Avocado oil taste like, and can you use it like olive or canola oil? Is it lightly flavored? You've opened a can of questions here, didn't know there was such a thing! Very much enjoyed this especially how much the gentlemen enjoyed the dish! Have a great week Clams!

    As usual with most everything you cook, it looks good af!
    I was was wondering what was up with those “cuttlefish” when I first saw them over on Aaron’s video. I had never seen a cuttlefish in person when alive, but what ya’ll had didn’t look exactly like a cuttlefish, but didn’t look like the squid we caught up north either (like you had mentioned). Pretty cool to fond that they’re a different species of squid, which has the name of what the restaurants and fancy people call squid. Lol
    P.S.- just a tip that’s I came across a few years back ….. whenever working with squid/calamari/cuttlefish or whatever we want to call them, and you plan on stuffing them….. turn the tubes inside out (a chop stick or skewer or whatever works good for this), and they won’t contract and squeeze the filling out. No need to close the ends up or anything. Weird, but works. 👍

    Over the weekend, I bought some calamari steaks and was looking up on YT how I'm going to prepare them (I froze them for next weekend). So on Monday, an older video of yours from NY where you were catching squid on a rod and reel pops up in my feed. I almost dropped a comment to ask for advice on calamari steaks, but didn't. Then later that same day, Aaron's video drops with you guys spearing squid. I thought to myself what a funny coincidence. I think you won over the crowd and almost the cat with your meal prep skills. Looking forward to seeing more of Belize. As for the calamari steaks, I'm planning on scoring them with cross hatches to prevent curling, lightly seasoning with S&P, and just searing them in a hot cast iron or wok for maybe 1 minute per side. Hope I can avoid turning them into rubber!

    • @CookingWithClams
      @CookingWithClams  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They may still curl even with the scoring! Squid shrinks so much. Try putting a weight on top like a brick wrapped in tin foil

    Great video. I’ve been watching your channel for a couple years now and everything looks so good. It’s really cool that you use a lot of the, let’s call them “fish scraps”. But all of us fishermen out here just love some good old fish, shrimp, crab etc. Almost all your recipes are long and not necessarily difficult but contain lots of ingredients and work. Why don’t you bust out some good old fast traditional easy videos, that aren’t your 5 star plates? Maybe your best fried fish recipe, maybe an easy seafood chowder, some shrimp recipe. Just a suggestion that the average person could whip up with the regular stuff in a kitchen. I know it’s not your forte but you might get a ton of views and a lot of us trying out one of your easier recipes that would make our regular seafood dishes taste better and become our new way of making a meal better. Just a suggestion. Keep your videos coming.
