Yeah my left side is only attracted to women and my right side likes men. I have to be really careful to only kiss guys with the right side of my lips.
The internship one had me at first... I’ve already attended one and am currently at another internship learning how to work with dolphins, these internships are incredibly competitive and hard to get into and although most of those requirements are pretty standard, and most of them are indeed unpaid I’ve never heard of one actually making you pay to attend... and their pay scheme is ridiculous on top of that 😂
Yeah I was thinking that going to go spend a few days watching dolphins sounds like a really fun vacation, and a lot of people would probably happily pay what they're asking if they'd just worded it differently. Of course if it was a vacation then they'd have to provide meals and health services in case of accident, and apparently that's a dealbreaker.
Daniel Gehring for sure! I could definitely see something like this as a “biologist for a day” program or something like that but not a professional internship... the two internships that I’ve been to have been great despite being unpaid, both places took having interns very seriously... however when it comes to this story I do also get the feeling that we aren’t getting the full picture either
Just listening to the story at around 0:57, and I was like "Okay, so what's the problem with-" 1:27 and it's like "Oh, there we go. There it is, folks." People like that infuriate me. Anyway, keep up the good work, rSlash! Listening to your videos is entertaining and humorous, but some of the stories definitely make me angry. Love the voices you give to the people in the stories, too!
Had a guy in my HS who actually in the middle of class said he demands a new assignment sheet because he's straight and didn't want to get the gay from the pink paper
Love these videos. I never expected so many people to act like that. I had one experience while selling some football memorabilia online. I had a scarf listed at 5 quid with delivery charge 2,90. A guy hits me with an offer I can't resist - "I will give you the 5 quid but can't afford 7,90 in total. Can you maybe do 1,20 postage so it's 6,20 in total?" "Hey, this is the standard delivery charge, I don't offer discount on postage as this is what the post office charges me for sending the scarf". "Yeah, but it's really much, can't you just bring the scarf yourself, I see you are registered like 30 miles away from where I am? That way I won't have to pay the post office!". So this guy was basically asking me to drive a total of 60 miles to deliver him a 5 quid scarf because he doesn't have 2,90 and having tried to lower postage to 1,20 meaning all this was for 1,70? Never replied to him again and he tried the same thing with other of my listings a few weeks later as if he doesn't even remember talking to me. :)
My mother believes homosexuality is a choice. I told her it wasn’t a choice... what happened? “How do you know? You got somethin’ you wanna tell me?!” And people wonder why I hate my mother....
(06:14) "I've never seen a V6 do over 120 without a supercharger or turbos.." The Porsche 996, which is what the 2002 Carrera is actually called, runs a 3.4 - 3.6L naturally aspirated/twin turbocharged flat 6. This guy is some "streetracer".
7:00 NGL, this stuff is pretty common. In fact, these types of things even have a _waiting list._ They get away with it cuz MariSci is a VERY popular, competitive field. I did it myself many years ago, for the orca up in Puget sound...but I didn't have to pay. The University did.
"And with tears in his eyes, he said she needed surgery." Or whatever it was they said. Nah. It's more like they walk in, go "it's broke. Needs fixing. Talk to the front desk to schedule surgery." Then walk out. Source: the 15+ surgeries I've had in my adult life. Bonus: I did have one surgeon put his hand on my shoulder one time and say "I'm sorry." Before he walked out. Edit: relistened. The Story from 7:20 and onwards is a sad truth in the Marine Biology field. My girlfriend is studying to get into that field and almost all internships around the world are paid... not that YOU get paid, you pay THEM. That's mostly not because they are greedy but because they can't afford the research otherwise Edit: Spelling
Just heard the knee replacment story. The kid shouldn't worry about gay. The problem would be if the doctor used bimetallic strips.... Having a knee that bends every which way depending on the outside temperature would be much more problematic I think ;P.
7:07 ah yes, reminds me when I did internship at my college. I had to pay for the internship classes that were supposed to start at 6 pm and end at 7 pm once a week, where a teacher would check on my week's work, propose to help, give advice and help with the documentation that I was supposed to deliver at the end of the semester. The teacher never showed up on any day. He either had other classes during this time or simply wasn't at the campus. The internship was not paid, and I had to work in exchange for "knowlegde, experience" (so, technically, I was *paying* to work). It was in the IT area, and the client was the college itself since they needed a new software. The board teacher (a different one) was supposed to represent this contact and give instructions. He almost never showed up either. During classes, we were told that a client constantly changing requirements was a bad practice - guess what happened? The teachers who would use the software couldn't make up their minds and the requirements were changed *every single week*. I had to scrap my progress and start over so often I thought I would go insane. Also, since the internship was do be completed on campus, we had to use the computers there. We did not have half the needed software necessary and they refused to install or unblock the machines so we could install them ourselves. It was a nightmare. I got out as soon as I had completed the hours needed to graduate and I have to say, it was so bad I'm considering not working the IT branch at all anymore :/
I really don’t agree with his portrayal of this research experience. This is one of the very rare instances where the chance to work in a very limited field is absolutely worth the price. It’s helpful to compare this experience to any science class/lab you would pay for at university.
@@blakeanderson9438 I'm sorry, you pay for labs at university? See above comment ^.^ (I mean obviously you pay tuition, but you shouldn't pay for specific courses. This is, once again, the rampant greed of lazy business owners at work)
Nerobyrne Yes, you pay for specific classes and labs. Take more classes, pay more tuition...that’s how education works at the moment. As a graduate student I can guarantee that almost all undergraduate research positions are unpaid volunteer positions intended to gain necessary experience for graduate school. These (often underfunded) labs cannot function without volunteers who themselves cannot get into graduate school without the experience. There are relatively few marine biologist positions in the US (unlike Neuroscience or biochemistry) and even fewer dealing specifically with cetaceans. With so few positions available and such high interest, the opportunity to work directly with whales and dolphins is absolutely worth the price for anyone planning to pursue a degree in marine biology.
Nerobyrne When I was still pre-veterinary medicine, I considered a study abroad experience in South Africa that would have cost me ~$4000, but would give me the opportunity to work with exotic animals. I see the internship described here as no different from these demanding study abroad trips. I believe the only reason you and rSlash think this internship is unreasonable is because you’re not familiar with how internships work in the sciences and how vital they are towards later acceptance into graduate school.
The dolphin internship is actually pretty standard for wildlife internships. Wildlife careers are so competitive people are expected to have a degree plus years of experience before getting into there career. Which means college grads are often doomed to do extensive volunteer internships with very little accommodations. shouldn't be this way, but it's more common than people think.
7:08 I was going to say it was reasonable until they asked a FEE FOR UNPAID WORK. I love science and zoology and the opportunity to work with animals and study them seems amazing but if I have to pay you to work you aren’t going to have a good time.
Yo Zoologist here, So the internship one you featured is actually a commonly accepted practice. There are literally hundreds of these companies who visit our colleges (typically 17-19 year olds) and universities (18+) advertising these "projects". They have different locations for different duration's at different prices. They typically give an hour long presentation highlighting all the work they do, the good they do and the fact you can do your final year project data gathering while out there with them. Most of these locations normally entail roughing it in tents or villages that they pass through during the trips. Once they've built up enough hype (Because to be fair if you can afford it, it does look an amazing opportunity / experience) they then hit you with the prices. You have to cover flights, insurance and a general fee depending on who you're with / location you're going to. While I was in university it was pretty standard to see these prices between £1500-3000 without flights and insurance. While I said it was experience / opportunity above, it is more of a work position to help their staff out their conducting research. So yes, you are paying them for them to let you work. They also have a section of how you can raise the money over summer holidays easily, which mainly includes asking family / friends to invest in your future and bag packing at supermarkets. From my experience the only people who go on these trips are people with rich backgrounds where the parents can just drop thousands without batting an eye lid. Overall, I find it a pretty scummy practice and I always try to discourage people from signing up.
3:46 to answer your question, sadly yes (even now in 2020). I had encounter like that to a husband and wife traveling in Mississippi and on a travel bus, they sat infront of me and my old ex boyfriend. It was allergy season at the time and I sneezed from time to time before and when I got on bus (the windows were mid open so pollen was flying in on long highways near the farming field) and the wife was nice, at first, asking, "Excuse me but, I think your friend might have a cold. (I worn short jeans and a plain white T-Shirt with my old ear rings at the time) Do you need anything? I have some tissues." My ex boyfriend answered, "Oh no ma'am its ok but thank you though. Its his allergies since its allergy season." Now fast forward in conversation lady was asking back and forth until the question, "How long have you been friends for?" I looked at her and said, "Oh no ma'am, he's not my friend" to her asking in lines of questions "Oh are your brothers?" (we looked nothing alike) no "cousins?" no ma'am he's my partner. It was like a switch flip to her saying to her husband "Thats disgusting! Cover up, if he keep sneezing, we might catch his "disease" if we're not careful" I ignored until our stop to her whispering "Well, there's a special place in he** for them, unholy people." I just left without saying anything.
13:30 **flashbacks to Detroit:Become Human** connor: * slaps files down on the desk * 28 STAB WOUNDS ! * flashbacks to DBH memes * me: THATS A LOTTA DAMMAGE-
My ex works for a lab, won't say the name, because it is well known. Anyway, their internships are as follows: You work just for the summer, you work full time, but are paid half the salary of the actual job classification. If you do well in the job, they will help with tuition costs, and you may possibly end up working for them. Now that is an internship.

We've finally found it. It's the final stage of capitalism, where you pay the business owners for the privilege of giving them all your labor!
See above comment ^.^
(I mean obviously you pay tuition, but you shouldn't pay for specific courses.
@@blakeanderson9438 actually no I don't pay for that, because I live in a proper nation and not a failed state.
It’s always good to see an RSlash vid in the subbox
That fortnite one was a real winner. Jesus Christ, kid had some issues. Mommy prolly dropped him on his head when he was little.

3:54 yes mr rslash. As a gay person myself I've met so many people who thought they'd turn day if they were around me or gay people too long
Yo Zoologist here,
So the internship one you featured is actually a commonly accepted practice.
