That was apparently a stupid a mistake, because one of the wedding guests breaks into her room, steals her prescription drugs, and then approaches OP to ask if she has any other drugs that he can steal. The "Bartering" lawyer story. Yes, people do barter like that, but what she's asking for isnt "I'll paint your deck you bake me a casserole" or "I'll look after your cat and you bring me spices from Mexico". I actually remember this post. I saw it happening real time. It was an AITA post where she wanted to know if she was an asshole for going to her friend’s wedding and sitting when she was deliberately told to stand. The sad thing is she really didn’t have a clue that she was acting entitled. She was just genuinely terrible at social interactions

Who just rummages around in someone's handbag without permission?! Even after decades of marriage, I don't go through my wife's purse. Having some stranger do that is, especially for drugs, is something I'd call the cops for.
For real. I guess they didn't want to ruin the wedding further by getting cops involved, but I'd have at least gone around and told everyone that the dude had stolen my shit and had probably stolen from other people, too, so they should check their personal items. Then pat him down and kick him out. I'm hoping they did something but it just didn't make it into the story.
The dude's an obvious drug addict. I can tell you from having to live through my older brothers' addictions, they don't hesitate to violate privacy to get their fix. One actually went into my bedroom to steal my boombox and VCR that I had bought with my babysitting money to sell for drug money. He never did pay me back for those either even after he finally got clean. And another stole from my wallet more than once, stole all these pretty dishes I had saved up to buy for when I had my own place, and was caught by mom stealing her things to sell so he could buy vodka. (And yet denies he stole anything even when caught red handed.) When someone's an addict they don't care about personal property. Just their next fix.

I, a woman, even find it weird to do so when my mum or sister say "hey can you get x out my bag for me?" because bags are practically sacred like that. I've got a couple of male friends who like to help me and my female friends. We've had to tell them a couple of times to leave our bags where they are and we'll pick them up because you don't mess with a woman's handbag/purse unless she gives permission.
So shit like "hey why have you only got your prescription medication for your medical condition in there and not other drugs that you don't need that I want for recreational purposes" is absolutely a horrible violation of privacy.

One of the most impactful reason I never even considered smoking was the fact that is such an expensive addiction. For instance, if you are a heavy smoker and smoke a pack a day, and that pack costs say $5, then in a year, you are spending $1825 in a year. Even if you can spread a pack out across a week, that is still $260 for a year. If you are a really heavy smoker and smoke 3+ packs a day, you are looking at almost $5500. As a 10 year old just learning about drugs, this was was waaaaayyy to much for my broke little self to comprehend. Yeah, I don't even like spending more than $15 bucks on coffee a month, let alone a smoking habit.

I used to smoke cigarettes years ago.. Before the recession of 2008, I smoked Dunhills, yes, quite expensive European cigarettes, I made enough money, I could afford that luxury... Then the recession happened. You know what I never did? Turn down an offer for a cheaper brand from a friend or family member offering to help me out by throwing a carton my way even if they were Pall Malls.

I’ve always smoked cheap brands. In Texas, the most expensive cigs are newports and camels. Tho I pick up Times, This, pall malls, carnivals, and 305s for less than $4-$5. (€3-€4)

I have to fight my artist friends to let me pay and tip them. I had a friend that sells items for 25 $ and 10$ base for shipping (it's a fragile item) I paid her 45$ for it.

I remember back at my tech support days. A lady called that her computer, for the first time, wouldn't turn on, we tried trouble shoot but nothing worked. I told her she couldn't send it to the company for repair and she got mada and, I would never forget this, shout "I WILL NEVER BUY (x company product) EVER AGAIN, AND THEY WILL GET THAT FROM YOUR PAYCHECK" and end the call.

I literally had a choosing beggar experience this morning lol I was playing and online game where you can talk and trade with other people and this person wanted something I was trading. So they start texting me and said “I have a wheelchair” and I said back “um, ok?” And the person says “you should give me the item for free” and I said this is definitely not how this works lol and then they said that they probably wouldn’t walk again and I think “ I don’t even know if you’re in a wheelchair or not” so I ended up canceling the trade and blocking them lol the person was most likely a kid but still, I don’t tolerate choosing beggars, no matter the age
Lol choosing beggars in online games are the worst. XD I encounter them often enough and they do this only because my chara looks expensive. Fun fact, it's only color and style matched. The items are something you get anyway. XD No huge amounts of ingame currency (or hard cash) needed.

That Costco story reminded me of when I worked at a well known department store that rhymes with holes. Someone came in to return an electric razor she bought over fifteen years ago. The item is no longer in the system because it’s been over fifteen years and the product is no longer available. She got angry and one of my supervisors had to go through hoops to ensure that this thing could be returned (it couldn’t). The razor still had hair in it.

I sold a Serrano Ham. It was a nuts grown one, which is mid range in price, so it was around 120$. After a couple of months, the guy came back with the bone and asked for an exchange or a reimbursement because he didn't like it.

Persnickity side note regarding adderall: for those with legitimate ADHD, Adderall actually calms them down.. so the 4 hour drive would have felt like just as long and might have proven even more exhausting because OP would have been focused and aware the whole time of what an asshole this dillweed was. On the other hand, it's a moot point in that Adderall keeps the impulsivity associated with ADHD in check, so without it, she might have agreed -- who knows. Bottom line: if Adderall makes you "hyper", you don't need Adderall -- you need therapy to deal with your abuse of/ addiction to amphetamines.

I like to have rSlash up in the background when I work and every time the "cotton" line comes up I literally cringe into myself like some sort of raisin!
If you smoke you will literally smoke any type of cigarettes if you really need one you don't care what they taste like or how much they cost you'll just smoke it
When I smoked I usually smoked "expensive" cigs (literally just marbs, but it's NY so they were 11 bucks a pack.) I had the option to go to buy cigs from the nearby Native American reservation where they don't have our insane tax laws, and get their cheapest brand for 2 bucks a pack. I'd normally agree that if you *need* a smoke, you'll smoke anything, but those 2 dollar cigarettes would make me nearly vomit on the spot. I would seriously rather go through full nicotine withdrawals than smoke those nasty things.
I eventually settled for the slightly higher quality $3.50 packs before I quit completely a few years later.

One of these reminded me how my friend and I quote our work. He's a fitter and I'm an electrician. Sometimes when we give a quote - say.... £600, we get asked "is that your best price?" we always respond with something like... Noo, my best price is £680!

I actually had a lady who tried to return a pair of shoes after 10 years. She was very surprised she couldn’t return it. I told her try the manufacturer. Seriously, ten years? People will never cease to amaze me.
I used to work for a internet reseller company that had a partnership with Costco. Costco salespeople are THE WORST. They will trick you into buying something that might not even be available at your house, something that you don't want or tell you they have something available that they can't actually sell you (like TV services). They'll even go as far as FAKING SIGNATURES. The amount of coaching tickets I had to do because of them, and the amount of people who cancelled their services because of their bullcrap is just absurd. I even told the big boss myself the problems we had with them and people looked at me like I had said ''Vol-de-Mort'' or something. Costco Salespeople are NOT to be trusted.
Actual acceptable bartering with Attorney....
Lawyer = accountant
Lawyer = free services on luxury/classic car
