    Thank you for this video and the review of the SB-1! I ordered an SB-1 earlier this week and expect it first of next week. I was wanting the Edge 320 but all they had was black and I got a great deal on the SB-1. I'm more confident that I made the right choice after watching these. I have a an old Martin Cougar Magnum but haven't shot in years so I'm getting back into it and wanted a good bow without spending a lot of money. I'll be watching more of your videos! Great job and thank you again!!

    Just bought an Edge 320 after watching all your videos on the SB-1 and I am very happy with it! They are virtually identical as you’ve said except for the quiver and arrow rest. I wasn’t able to find an SB-1 locally but the 320 was in stock

      I have that model as well and I agree. It's solid. The only knock I have against it, speaking about the bare bow and not the packaged accessories, is mild cam lean that isn't easy to correct without major surgery. Said cam lean has no effect on accuracy as far as I have noticed. If I'm shooting well on a given day it will produce excellent groupings out to 60m. Very minor secondary issue is the narrow limbs do make it fussy, but not impossible, to use with common portable bow presses. As for the pack-in accessories, I upgraded all of them within a year.

    Thank you for a very informative review:) Regarding the positioning of the quiver, I managed to mount it to maximum height by sliding the mount to the bottom of the rails when not attached to the bow. Then it rides much higher and the lower attachment point fits between the rest mount and the sight:) It will give you a few extra inches...

      I do the same on all my quivers. It definitely helps for those of us who have long draw lengths

    I am trying to decide between the SB-1 and the 320. I think the clicking of the cams on the 320 will drive me crazy and ATA is longer but the 85% let off is a consideration that you didn’t mention in your review. I’m a 61 yr old woman getting back in to archery after 40 yrs and wounder if that 5% in let off would make a difference to a smaller weaker person like myself? Also is the grip a comfortable size for a 5’3’ stature? Sheltering at home and cant try them myself at this time. :(

    • @seansoutdoors

      Grips are all personal preference so I can't answer that, but I do think either bow will serve your purpose. God bless you.

    Great comparison Sean! I would just like to note, my Edge 320 quiver was tight too when I first got it. However it has broken in and goes on and off fast now, with one gentle push or pull. Not sure if that mitigates anything for anyone and I’m not saying it’s better than the old design, just information.

  • @msh441
    @msh441 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Curious if switching the bowstring to the other position on the 320 allows you to take up some of the slack and reach some of the lower draw weights advertised under the 320’s spec sheet. 28lb minimum seems really high for a bow replacing the SB1, which is capable of much less.

    The Edge 320 comes with a different quiver and stabilizer now. The quiver mounts by sliding on from the top or bottom, locks on from the side and can be adjusted/slid all the way up the same way he says the SB-1 quiver can. The Edge 320 now comes with the same stabilizer as the one shown on the SB-1 now.

      B enables you to go to a shorter draw length

    • @voxpopuli905
      @voxpopuli905 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sean's Outdoor Adventures ok that’s why string was practically falling off at lower poundage, they’re expecting the draw length to be shorter at that low of setting. Like for a kid. Am slightly disappointed that this new model is actually losing ground to the SB1. It’s basically better if you need a 31 inch draw, other than that your losing speed over the other model. My instinct was telling me to get last years model too. Idk why I ignore that little voice so often lol
      However, it’s still a fine performer and ten feet per second is not the end of the world. If I manage to harvest a deer w this, I’ll consider spending more on a new Mathews next year

    • @seansoutdoors
      @seansoutdoors  10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes but a bow like this decreases in peak weight as the draw length goes down. Therefore the data is at peak weight with a 350 grain arrow but that peak weight does not stay at 70 as the draw length goes down.

    I bought the SB-1 a year ago as a first bow as I wanted to try bow hunting instead of just gun, so I didn't want to spend a ton. I run it at 29.5" draw, 62 lbs. I've since added a QAD LD rest and honestly love shooting it, as I'm probably in the 300 shot range now. Bow season starts Tuesday, so that will be the true test. I do recommend it to anyone starting out, and also because of how adjustable it is, I'll be giving it to my 15 yr old in the spring when I upgrade. Good review as always, Sean!

    Love your videos very informative, i am just starting out and am going to go on my first outing with my brother in law in 1.5 months (hunting season does not start by me until october 7th)
    one thing i would like to learn more about is arrow weight for hunting. if you want or think it warrants coverage.
    i just bought a scale for arrows(it has not arrived yet) to see what weight of arrow i am shooting and the arrows i am planning on hunting with (CE maxima red 250) are sitting around 370 grains by my calc. i am relatively short so my draw length SEEMS to be 27" (calc by using the finger tip to finger tip and divide by 2.5) reading several articles etc say i should trim the arrow shaft down to more match my draw length and i chose to use a shaft length of 28"(with points and nock ~29.5ish for total length).
    the maxima red 250 28" shaft is only 227 grains, with the 100grain point, insert nock and etc comes to around 370. most articles i have read say that you want at least 450 for the weight of the arrow. i know for deer the weight is of the arrow is not as important than if you were going for larger game, but want to know your thoughts on the matter.
    for the record my bow is the diamond edge sb-1 with gas xv strings (and a different sight & rest) and i like it alot as a "first bow" to start off on.
